Chun-li Video/Discussion Thread

Well as I said in an earlier post here are a few Vids of me, I only normally post vids in here VERY rarely and normally for actual advice. These however are as I said more of a asking people to comment on my Chun game in general and not really C&C the matches as I’m feeling really low about my game and just need to know what other Chun’s honestly think and where if anywhere I can go from here…

Note I waste a lot of meter on non hit confirmed EX Legs but there is reason in my madness of just throwing it out there which isn’t worth explaining but certain members on here may kinda understand what I am donig

Feel free to say anything at this point I’m past caring… If anyone can be bothered to watch and comment either about my Chun in general or to C&C which I am not really after but won’t say no to advice that would be great as I know often people don’t watch Vids…

Also sorry about the quality of both the Vids (for some reason the uploads corrupt a little at times which doesn’t normally happen) and at time the opponents sometimes its hard to find random good opponents and I’ve been playing the game less and less recently I’ve had less time with the players that I know are genuinely good…

Anyway…

loved that last vid

Wii … I know you’ve been a little disillusioned of late with playing Chun and where you’re at with her, but I can assure you that those videos have shown me things to suggest that you are still a very competitive Chun player. I think it’s better to have something to improve upon rather than being in a place where you can’t really do much more with a character, and I hope you realise the potential to get better is motivation enough for you to keep playing.

Very solid Chun as always, Wii. I agree with the post above mostly.

I left comments on some of your recent vids on Youtube. Same with your old vs Dhalsim and vs Cammy clips, but I think you read those already.

Adon vs. Chun (set 1)

  • nice mix of Kiko usage
  • awesome spacing (Round 1)
  • execution solid with strings (i.e. jab to fp)
  • great discipline to maintain ground offense v. jumping

Adon vs. Chun (set 2)

  • great use of cr. fp xx legs to create distance and pressure
  • lol, Adon got downloaded in round 2 – good use of legs

Chun vs. Viper

  • I stil struggle with this match at times so no comment :stuck_out_tongue:
LOVE the stomps around 1:25, lol - pwned

Rufus vs. Chun

  • When he has no meter, RUSH HIM DOWN – don’t let him build up
  • oooh shit, Wii doing links off cr. fp xx legs – godlike!
  • awesome finish at 2:25

Overall – I agree with Meeks, this footage shows you’re not only still competitive, but really ought to give yourself more credit. You shouldn’t feel disillusioned at all.

Ha thanks mate, although I would say that Sagat is way below the level of the Sagat I train with. He wasn’t bad but I should not be able to get in and stay in on him so easily and he should have made better attempts to zone me with normals as well as fireballs…

Also he let me stand and what I feel is Chun’s perfect range in this Match up way to much I think without understanding I was in control at that range…

Still glad you liked and feel free to steal my corner pressure against Sagat lol

Genuinely Thanks Bahn, I know I sounded like a whiny kid in my reply (you know what I am talking about) and it was actually in no way meant to force you to write anything here. It was just me complaining cos well I’m an unhappy camper atm.

Thanks for the feedback although my spacing was awful in the Adon match after the first round (one of many things I struggle with) and I went for FAR too many throws but that was because I actually hate the Adon match up and struggle so much in it.

You didn’t have to C&C and you could and really should have pointed out all the glaring errors of which I and probably many others that watch the videos (so no one then, way to go Chun forum) can painfully see.

Thanks for taking the time to try and reassure me.

Cheers mate, I know me and you have had a few conversations covering advice which I’ve always stressed is a two way thing and I am glad if any of our conversations have helped you. I read and replied to your YouTube comments and whilst you may think I shouldn’t be harsh on myself I have my reasons, which I’ve mentioned briefly to Meeks…

Again thanks for actually taking the time to both watch and give me replies both here and on the video’s themselves…

Basically you know better than anyone where I am and ^^^ this is almost an understatement. I think you can also understand my reasons for the way I am feeling about things (given our conversations). Thanks for the feedback and although I can see what you and the other few people here are attempting to say, I feel like I’ve reached my limit and its lower than where I want it to be.

Maybe I am wrong and its a temporary barrier but I REALLY don’t have the time to invest hours every day into it (for various reasons). So I am just finding it a struggle :frowning:

Thanks to all that watched and commented it is greatly appreciated but I am not sure if anyone gave an honest opinion of where my Chun actually stands or where they think I can get.

I know what my issues are I just don’t know how to fix em lol

Meeks you know probably better than anyone here how I feel and you know I’m respectful of your attempts to reassure me that I’m not a lost cause, however where do I go from here?

Wha?

LOL check now haha I just don’t know a better way to multi-quote

I am leaving the Fellowship for Sakura…

Ok, not really but I am messing with other characters to mix things up a bit.

I just read your replies on YT. Feel free to private message me if you feel like sharing what’s on your mind. I’m not sure if I can truly or fully help (maybe not as a Chun at least… lol I have so many dumb errors myself), but I’m here to listen.

I myself don’t know how long I can keep improving, or if I’ve hit a plateau. New job may be starting in 2 weeks, and I’m worried that my SF4 time will definitely take a cut. I’ll have to do some time management wizardry.

Haha if you hit the Reply link on another post while you’re typing in a post, it will insert that quote back into your text box. A bit of a ghetto solution to multi-quoting but it works.

Nothing special just another laugh I wanted to set up in a match and a bit of a write up on DF LK changes in the description to the uninformed non chun users who bitch and moan about stupid shit.

Uploading some more stuff soon, might edit it now during this Poonkgo vs Daigo first to 10 which is streaming now on TopangaTV.

A bunch of matches from a casual set over GFWL. excuse the ghettoness of the background and upload resolution, I’m running the game on a Macbook Air and FRAPs doesn’t work so great with the game running as well… looking for a few match up specific tips and anyone is bothered to watch! :stuck_out_tongue:

Sadly against Viper I don’t think you can do much more than just… read the guy better and play better. :frowning: You really have to be patient and just block until you feel an opening develop. Viper gets a lot of her damage because she catches people pressing buttons…

A replay with the best Hakan I’ve come across yet

And just another joke vid

Will be playing and uploading alot more leading up to Melbourne’s upcoming major fighting game Tournament called BAM or Battle Arcade Melbourne run by Couchwarriors with support from Shadowloo and the entire Aussie community.
I have to fly over to Australia to attend so it’s important I execute well from the get go lol. More vids incoming including more constructive vids with losses against certain characters, any tips\feedback will be greatly appreciated on them. I find uploading replays even just for my own viewing to be INCREDIBLY beneficial, makes me realize how lazy I get with actually inputting option selects some times and the damage\setups I miss out on because of it… something to work on.

Just my second or third time seriously fighting a Juri. How does this matchup go (even, in our favor, not our favor)? It seems that if I can get early damage and zone her well, I win. But if I get mind f’d by her fireballs and her own pokes, I lose.

vs Cammy… lots of errors here (I usually play the matchup way better than this), but also lots of lucky breaks.

I thought I would be dead via Gyro Drive in Round 2 for sure.
