Hey, someone uploaded a ranked match of me against Gagapa, a good bison player. I did some mistakes but I hope you enjoy

Hey… Yeah Gagapa is one of the best Bisons in Europe but I have to say I think he played the fight really poorly I’m not sure how you were able to control the space well enough to get so many jump ins when really Bison can keep Chuns jump in attacks out for pretty much free. I’m not sure how well he really knows this Match up but as always you play well…

I haven’t played you in ages, I’ll be honest I’ve avoided you cos you were doing the whole Yun thing you mind if I get a set against you again soon (I nearly always appear offline and when I check you’re in ranked a lot so I generally leave it). Also I struggle against imo the UK’s Best Bison and one of the best in Europe so tips would be helpful (he knows the Chun match up too well :frowning: ). Maybe get some games in against him and me if you’re up for it?

Yes, he is the best bison in Europe, when we finished he complained about the lag but we had green bar connection. We played 6 and I won 4, anyway I’m sure if we had played offline it would have been different.

Wh1ppet invite me when you want

Mirrors with an old mentor. I’m the pink/genie Chun…

That one lolsweepnofocus round aside, I feel better about this m/u than before. Obviously, I’m still too reckless and not very defense-minded though. Used U2 on a whim when (earlier and unrecorded) I couldn’t seem to get U1 to work in the mirrors. lol

To compare, mirrors 3 months ago vs another dude. I’m Alt 1 and he’s non-genie Alt 2

I come baring gifts. You guys asked for some love, so here’s what I found for you all.

First off, out of nowhere, RhythmBoy decided to upload today:

Then I looked for some more Chuns that seemed decent, and this is what I got:

Let me know what you guys think of these Chuns. They look good to me, but I don’t play her…

From what I’ve seen of Rhythmboy, I’ve really liked. His playstyle is very similar to how I like to play, so I’m really digging his replays.

All the others are pretty good too, though jury is still out on the one against T-Hawk. It appears that the better Japanese Chun players are on PSN. Thanks for the uploads.

Watched the vs Sagat and vs Yun ones. Pretty decent from what I can tell.

Liked some of those Chun’s, they were all good don’t get me wrong but a few did things that I am surprised they got away with… Still thanks for the vids

I actually don’t mind a bit of risk taking from time to time. I do it a lot myself and I feel a lot more creative with my game if those risks pay off. But it also goes without saying that risk taking should be done in moderation

You overall game is pretty solid and I like the way you move around the screen and utilise space but it would benefit you if you learned to incorporate option selects. Against Chun especially, you never want her to get away with a backdash on wakeup when she has no meter (like at about 0:07 in the 2nd game). the cr.lp, cr.lp + cr.hk OS won’t work against Chun because she backdashes quite a fair range away, but if you go for a frame trap either with s.hp or s.hk, you will tag the backdash. If they block, just continue offensive pressure, and if you get a CH, even better - combo from cr.lp or s.lp.

Thank you sir, going to Malva’s thread and Youtube for those. :china:

I’ve been thinking about learning OS’s and safe jump setups as of late.

Chun Mirror. A bit gimmicky in some parts of the game, and got creative with some new things. Share your thoughts, good and/or bad

Basically good Shit  Its hard to find fault even though you rushed down and jumped a lot and took some risks I really wouldn’t have when I am playing properly. As you got away with them all and spaced well. Its that thing of if you can think and act faster than your opponent can think and react then been aggressive is going to get you results.

I can’t offer advice as I try to play aggressive sometimes but am apparently mentally slow (lol in many ways). I would just say I am stealing some of your set ups and other than maybe taking a few risks that would surely see you take a lot more damage than you did against higher level players I have nothing I can really contribute… Sorry :frowning:

I might post some vids I am uploading in the next day or two here, if people can please tell me what you think of my Chun overall, not a C&C I am not just posting me getting destroyed this time. I want an actual opinion on my Chun cos (as some people may know) I am starting to lose focus as I feel I’m not improving to the point I just want to quit the game, so opinions on my Chun and my game good or bad I would like from (I was going to say Chun’s I respect but) anyone that can be bothered to give an opinion…

The CH setup and follow up combo at 4:37 was ultra sexy. Really great use of OS’es and safe jumps that I need to incorporate into my own game. At first glance, it looked like you jumped in way too much, but apart from maybe 2-3 jumpins which were 50/50, every one of those jump ins were setup from a knockdown. I need to be able to recognise these in-game more. I practise it in training mode but it’s harder for me to think about them when I’m actually playing a game against someone that actually hits back.

Also, b + mk x2 fadc? Looks cool, but practical? And 3:15 … was that reset intentional? That was some tricky shit  Thanks for sharing

The reset was intentional I’ve seen Meeks use it before and its been mentioned to me and FADC isn’t really practical but again it guarantees safety if the T.C. is blocked and give a mix up and I think its fair to say Meeks was and is experimenting with his Chun to breath new life into a character that everyone that fights against her feels they know inside out.

It’s good that people (like Meeks and others) are still trying to find ways to make Chun’s offence creative, not only from the point of view of offering other Chun’s more options but also in maybe pushing people to do the same? And hopefully show she isn’t just a walk back wall of zoning annoyance to the masses that face her and generally post comments about Chun being a boring character to watch on YouTube vids

That Hazanshu reset is sick.

^ This. I know I’m not a conventional Chun player by any stretch of the imagination, and I don’t mind being labelled a gimmicky player, but I’ve always been under the philosophy that to get the best out of your character you have to get creative at times, and create unpredictable opportunities to not just fool your opponents, but to continually give yourself multiple options so you don’t get stale in your gameplay. I remember a time when everyone knew that the cr.hp xx legs loop existed but pretty much everyone dismissed it as impractical because it was too hard to do. Even though it’s not necessary to learn to be a good player, it makes you a “better” player and gives you an edge over what another player doesn’t have.

Well I wouldn’t go as far to say that it’s impractical though I wouldn’t also say that it’s good to be using it like your go to bnb combos. B + mk is actually a very good ranged poke, and the slow startup actually makes it good for fishing for counter hits from some setups, but you have to be using it very sparingly to be effective. Like Wii said, the fadc allows for stomps on hit confirm, or continual offensive mixup pressure if they do block it.

Looking as tidy as ever Meeks ;]
