Chun-li Video/Discussion Thread

I dig the “how not to play Chun” posts… I’m talking to you ^ guy.

If you want advice I say don’t jump at Geif ever although you did seem to make that adjustment after the first round, you missed a few punishes (cl.RH, EX Legs) from blocked EX Greenhands and you got hit confirms sometimes from jab but still went for a throw. I am not sure why you did that rather confirming into better damage and stun as hard knockdowns aren’t the useful against Geif.

Overall you played it well though (first round aside), although I’d say that Geif really made a lot of mistakes and failed to play footsies with you or try to space you for whiff punishes. Still your Chun seems decent from this vid

Since you know so much why don’t you give him some constructive comments?

Damn, hate that matchup. That’s some high level Yun too. I liked your nj.hk > cr.hp xx legs at the begining of the video. Smart stuff. Don’t know what to tell you tho. Yun is a bastard.

Thanks man, so after green hands you are saying that cr FP into m bird kick would have worked? Im still trying to figure out how best to use her

Fighting Geif is so hard for me, anytime I get anywhere close he SPD’s i dont know what to do. Anytime I try to trip him after green hands spd, throw a st RH … SPD , throw a st HP … SPD … so I play Gief farrr farr a way LOL

I realize you really want to be noticed, but can you at least pretend to have some class?

haven’t been playing much and i never learned this match after playing for a while. last time before this i played a good yun was li joe and that was in december. i was like " oh it’s hsien let me play him" after that i was like “fuck my life”.

lol´d

jae how did you get that bg stage? lol it looks awesome

that must be a customer BG for the training room on PC edition AE…looks sick

Hsien Chang’s Yun is godlike.

Jae, I want to say that you should have done more stuff - a lot of the match, you are being pretty idle and really letting him control the pace of the fight. For obvious reasons this is something you don’t want to let Yun do, especially against a high-level Yun like Hsien.

But then again, saying you should have done more is easy, but figuring out what you should have done is what’s hard. I have no doubt in my mind that you would have gotten EX Shoulder’d out of any fireballs, which is really Chun’s only option from outside poke range.

I personally would use Ultra 1 against the twins because it punishes palm on whiff and stops Yun from abusing it to build meter, but that’s my preference and I like the metagame. If you prefer the guaranteed damage from Ultra 2, go with it – just offering my suggestion.

I was actually referring to jae. It was a late post. Your chun is actually pretty clean. And I’m not trying to be noticed, I was just under the impression this thread was for videos of how to play chun correctly, not a “look at me do everything wrong” thread.

I thought you were referring to mine as well, in which case you would be right too, especially my old linked stuff. Anyway, a quote/reply function and a little touching up (so as not to repeat the embed) would be preferable next time to avoid confusion.

Pretty sure Chuns of every skill level are allowed in here. Someone’s bound to C&C any posted video anyway.

It’s not about videos of playing Chun correctly. At least, not necessarily. While that type of video is certainly welcome, the other videos are for critiquing problems in a player’s gameplay, or advice on how to respond to certain situations.

ok let me clarify a couple things.

  1. i put up youtube videos of other high level players whether i play them or don’t.
  2. its an online east coast to west coast game. there was lag but on a replay that won’t show.
  3. i have not been playing this game in a long time.

I’m not going to make excuses If I lose I lose. this is my first time playing a really good Yun player and i had no idea how to approach the match. Even if you think this is a “look at me do everything wrong” video do you honestly think that you will always be playing right?

guy…there is no reason to tear another person down though. If you see someone not playing well, or has some holes in their game it would be best to offer advice or say nothing at all. Just a suggestion. Everyone cannot be Daigo…and even Daigo loses sometimes…

4neqs … Shermie right? what up man! I am replying cuz I actually find your signature HILARIOUS LOL!!! good stuff

@omni

Yes, it’s me, photonshermie from youtube. Glad to see you on here too.
re: sig, yup that’s just how SRK is…no matter what the buffs or nerfs.

The thread is as everyone has painfully pointed out not just for perfect Chun play but for critiques as well, sometimes good Chun’s (in peoples opinion or at least experienced ones) post matches of themselves losing to get advice. It’s how you get better, you watch a match back yourself and see things but extra eyes can see other things you may miss.

This isn’t an ego driven thread, generally regardless of wins or losses people here are aware of where the Chun posting the video is at skillwise and development wise. I for one try not to judge a Chun on what they post here good or bad and instead offer generally advice, as I hate specific advice myself, stuff like at “2:21 you used “X” or got hit by “Y” which is bad” as I feel a specific one off incident in a fight isn’t to be pulled up, whereas “You failed to punish move"Z” several times when “A” can punish it" or "You failed to use safe jumps in the fight, the safe jump is “B” is generally much better advice to aid players improve their overall game.

Anyway I know you had some point to what you said you just slightly misunderstood the point of this thread so no harm done  Just lend your advice if you have some to offer

Everyone is being way too nice here. Just sayin’ buddy was being either really dumb or really out of line. Either way it’s an insult and you should just take it back. You might not look so good playing against a Evo top 32 material. Whoops sorry I found a video of you beating Hsien.
