Most Hondas use non-EX hb’s as combo enders now. Ideally, you shouldn’t see obvious headbutts/outside of combos or certain punishes.
Loss/change of invincibility has forced them to use other means of anti-airing, and now they resort to other anti-airs (e.g. s.hp, nj hp, buttslam). Still use EX headbutts as reversals of course.
I’ve played some good honda…and yea its not something to fancy but it works and even the best tend to throw one out just to see what you do to react to it…how i get most of them is that I let them get 2-3 before I start smacking them with strong and if i have super then its strong into super…but I do understand what your saying, for the most part they dont headbutt especially once you have an Ultra 1…one of Chun li more favorable matches.
If you want I’ll PM you my critique and advice, let me know though as obviously I don’t want to spend ages writing something if you don’t think I can help
Ok, just looked at the footage. Sorry for the delay:
too much jumping, focus on being grounded (especially against Akuma)
use more aa options (st. mk against flips, advancing flips)
decent use of footsies (recommend better punishes i.e. short -> ex legs/jab string to fp)
avoid random hasanshu - experienced players will bait and punish. if you feel you must use this move, ensure you have meter to FADC if attack is blocked or focused)
focus more on how your opponent moves - behavior against your jumps, pokes, etc. this will allow you to set up situations based on position on the board. avoid auto-pilot/random tactics
Overall, the key to winning with Chun is playing a confident, controlled style that balances jumping and ground offense. Again, your frequency of jumping against shotos especially should be minimal (unless you’re capable of doing safe jumps). Also focus more on utilizing all your AA options based on the situation/range from your opponent. Hope that helps.
Thanks man, i definitely appreciate the advice. I agree, a lot of those are problems ive been told, and notice myself. I definitely have a lot to refine and work on if i want to play appropriately. Ill send you a pm when i get an op to play some games. Might use some of that to critique in a future video.
Not gonna be able to watch the whole video, so I’m just gonna quickly comment on your match for the first 3 rounds of your Balrog match.
You did really well regarding spacing is concerned, the only complaint I have towards this is that you may be giving up a tiny bit too much ground. Instead of just walking back, just crouch instead. If he’s whoring a charge, you really shouldn’t have to walk back and give more room.
Other tips against Balrog is that whenever you see him whiff a Heavy attack, it means he whiffed it so he can charge a TAP. Rarely will players be smart enough to hide their charge in a light attack. If they whiff such a heavy attack for no reason, know that they are looking to TAP and either c.mp, Ultra, or throw.
Also, good job on the Ultra against the EX dash, but also be weary that if you see the yellow, throw him as a meterless punish. Sets up a good oki for even more damage potential. This way, you don’t waste your Super but still get heavy damage potential.
My one other complaint is that you did not press the issue when you could have. You get the knockdown against Balrog a couple of times (jumps into a fireball, etc.) and he doesn’t quick tech AND he has NO meter. He has almost zilch wakeup options and you really should be harassing him on knockdown in these situations. When he has meter, then you worry about EX rush and have him waste it, but other wise, you probably should not be walking back and giving up that ground. You won’t build your Super meter as fast if you just throw fireballs compared to getting him locked down in a good blockstring for both possibly more damage or a throw reset situation in addition to good meter gain.
Here’s the vs Honda vids I was lamenting about in Fellowship, a mix of AE (at home/at a friend’s on PS3) and ye olde (at the mall while picking up friends for AE  )…
It was a little easier in AE (not quite recorded… but obviously one didn’t use EX 'butts as liberally), but against the same good players it was tough all the same.

In retrospect, I didn’t zone as well as I should have, didn’t I? Let Honda gain too much of the screen space. Got too impatient and fell for the EX’s and the butt gauntlets…
Edit- yup, as in months ago, arcade timer here still ass…dammit management.
