Chun-li Video/Discussion Thread

Hey Magneto! Thanks for watching my videos. I’m surprised! I thought I was going to get a whiplash of criticism xD

Ah, >_<
I have never been to EVO before, kinda scared. I’m just an online scrub hahhaa who wishes he was as good as tourney players… I’ll honestly think I got lucky against Lud and HAV… especially Vangster and other top players.
I use a lot of gimmicks… I dont know how they work most of the time though lol

but anyways, I do plan to go to EVO next year. this was by a default decision. and hey, maybe I’ll go for that risky deal. I like challenges!! but darn, I would probably lose… did I mention I’m a pad player?

Hmm, the hasan-shu into sweep… can you specify for me which video and @ which particular time? I’m having trouble understanding what exactly you mean, hehe. I’m kinda dumb… like blonde-wise. But if you mean like at 0:15 on Part 1 against Lud, then my explanation would be really silly. The hasan-shu comes from just a rough measurement of getting in close, because I just love footsies (haha). but the sweep? Umm here’s the silly part… the sweep is just a bad habit of mine… I sweep a lot and its a bad habit xD

But now that we think about it, the sweep could be useful in some situations, because some players block high after a HSU and I guess after the HSU they are still blocking up / or trying to do some move that gets stuffed by the sweep. this of course, doesnt work against shoto’s dp or flash kicks or anything like that. that kind of stuff gets me KILLED, those bad habits of mine…

unless Magneto, you were being totally sarcastic, I would not be surprised because I’m actually not a good player

That was a fantastic Chun to watch. Loved his mind games.

hey you’re super cool.

Yeah, MagMan seemed to have been very sarcastic :expressionless:

magman was mean :frowning:

So what did Pierre do to deserve that hate? Did he play 200 matches against LUD and only upload those where he won? Did he abuse lag? Did he use noob strategies to win against a superiorly skilled player instead of letting him beat him like he deserved? Or is magnetomaniac just too cool to exist on the same planet as someone who is still learning the game?

u can take the $300 challenge to find it out (?)

You guys act like I was trying to show off or something.

I’m just trying to get a critique to my game that’s all…
I wanted to upload one of my best matches and have you guys tell me what is WRONG with my playstyle or tell me what I need to know, fix, and work on, mainly. I ain’t lookin for shit like “OH SEE U AT EVO BRO!” or “luLZ itZ oNliNez” kind of comments.

And then I get the elitist douchebags coming in here and fucking trying to troll, or post useless shit
You guys are really fucking arrogant as fuck
Shut the fuck up you god damn stupid fat fucks
What the fuck is god damn fucking point of writing something that is useless when someone is asking for help?
this aint no fellowship of the god damn thigh if there are some dipshit who are gonna be completely fucking stupid

I barely played LUD this was only my second time playing him, ever.

Eh I just don’t take those comments seriously when MagMan says that stuff. I’m sure he doesn’t mean it that way, I don’t think he’s a bad guy or anything

Hey magman was only kidding, to test you out.

Looking at those videos, you do a lot of jumps and hasan-shus. this isn’t how i would play the match offline. I can’t beat you though playing online, and those matches are pretty horrible. Go to your local tournament and play someone and post the video and record your matches.

Yeah MagMan gives every new guy a hard time, I remember he gave me a hard time when I was concerned about my rep when they still had that lol

yeah real troll

lol hey keep it SSF4 before I bench press your scrawny ass IRL.

Offer is still up though.

I wanna see more vids with the legs loop, super usage and ch st.mp setups.

It’s the way!!

I would if i can actually do those things

Training mode = creating miracles mode

I’m gonna go to EVO to play for fun, not for the bet. But maybe, sounds like a fun bet.

btw, I’m shaking in my boots.

I think this is the right place to put this up, but I was wondering if you guys can give me some critique as well. I barely started using chun seriously (I used Gen 95% of the time) But this was the very first time I started using Chun seriously enough, just started this week.

I still miss a lot of combos and I notice I back away a lot. Every critique helps.

Also, as a quick note, I’m uploading my losses too, as I speak, but I feel like those wins are just by luck. The win pretty much relied on them messing up as opposed to me really “winning”

There is obviously quite a lot people could write, I’m too lazy (and by no means the best Chun lol) and well if you’ve only just picked her up it would be both harsh to list lots of things and may be beyond where you are with her at this point. Also only Sim matches, shame you didn’t get uploads against a few different characters…

Anyway… A few things from these matches are…

You jump too much, walk and block your way in on opponents more, I’m guess this is cos you’re not used to her playstyle yet and you find it easier to land combo’s from a jump in? Get into the habit of staying on the floor more and using her pokes and walk speed to close distances…

Get in training as well and get used to landing her BnB’s from walking up not jumping in… On that note get a few of her BnB’s down, cr.short, cr.short, EX Legs… cr.jab x2, st,jab, far.fierce… Which I noticed you went for a lot and missed, plink the fierce…

Learn a few block string variations stuff that ends on st.strong (then you can choose one of several follow ups from that, Kikoken, HSU, another st.strong, far.RH or do nothing) you didn’t have really any kind of mix to your pressure.

On your many (many) jump ins you always seemed to jump in with fierce target combo, even when you were jumping in from too far away to land it, if you’re going to jump from far away use her jumping forward it has a lot of range and active frames…

As a Gen player I’m guessing you’re able to Piano? If so use cl.RH, EX Legs to punish when close (there are lots of other legs combo’s for you to looking into, meterless ones and ones that use meter but get this down as a go to punish and hit confirm when you do land a jump in as its solid damage)

Try to get a feel for at least a few of her easier Anti Air options, mainly st.fierce at far range and st.forward at mid range (they aren’t going to always work in every situation but they are her base Anti Airs so get used to using em)

Like I said I could and other will possibly write a lot of information for you but I think you just need to get used to her basics first, also yeah don’t just walk backwards (I know its sim so it can be played that way) but Chun doesn’t always need her charge so don’t be afraid to walk forwards and block, use her pokes and get used to her spacing on moves they are very good…

Anyway I’m done for now on a plus note for ya, nice hit confirm into Super when you did eventually land the fierce
