amen to that brother.
I know what you mean, every time I try to c.lk that shit after blocking I get thrown sigh
wow, has anyone seen Uryo’s chun? he’s a really good japanese viper…but man his chun is pretty defensive too

He went on the defensive due to the matchup with Gief. There’s some vids of him against a Ryu and he did a good job of balancing between offense and defense (though some of those FA baits were scary !!). And yeah his Viper is nasty.

Was tuning into Haunts’ XBL stream this weekend and there was a nice set between him and Relix. Dude played with a lot of confidence in the Sagat matchup and just kept the pressure on. Matches start at the 15min mark:
Hey guys, scrub Chun Li player here. I got a chance to play haunts on his stream this weekend. I would really appreciate any tips you could give me. I’ve been trying to get better, but it ain’t working out atm.

My match starts at about 1:14. And yeah, I already know I jumped too much.

I feel this Chun’s pain. I really don’t think Daigo is losing to any Chun except Nemo or maybe Nuki. But I think Nemo has the best hope of taking games from Daigo, if he were to still play.
Damn the Chun played that game pretty well but Daigo just did massive damage at every single opening. In fact the Chun didn’t really do too much wrong could maybe have done more mix-ups but I get the feeling that would just have got him killed quicker…
Poor Chun Still good effort
fixed. :clown:
My question is this: why at 28s into the video did the nemo string push Itsuji so far
away after landing the hsu? Normally you would be able to follow that up with a cr.lp
> st.hp or a bnb > ex.sbk* (*corner dependent), but it looks like he got pushed out
of range when he landed the hk.hsu.
i’ve always liked tsujis chun… damn daigo capitalized TOO well in this matchup though… well played by both.

I’m no pro or anything so take my opinion with a grain of salt lol. I thought you had some stretches of good space control on the with st.FP, st.HK and sweep. Seems like you got a bit nervous in neutral situations (and on his wakeup as well) and went for some random cross ups which Haunts was able to capitalize on. Trust your ground normals and avoid jumping in too much especially against a good Sagat ! I know uppercut/knee/focus are nasty wakeup options for Sagat but need to stay in there trust yourself and maintain the pressure.
I think st.FP and st.MK can knock out some of the jump-ins he used as I didn’t see any Sagat elbow drops. When you do get opportunities to jump in mixup a little more with some safe jumps into cr.lk,throws, hasan, etc. All in all I thought you did some good things and the areas for improvement are things that players such as myself need to work on all the time.
This is why I don’t kikoken from jump in range. I’d rather let Ryu do whatever with his fireballs, because no matter how many I block the chip won’t even come close to the damage from a jump in combo (especially if he has super).
The sad thing about this matchup is that Ryu can afford to jump because of Chun’s low damage anti airs, but Chun can’t.
Ryu’s empty jump is also dumb. You go to do a standing fierce to aa him and it goes through his body! This is actually the case with most of the characters in the game. Empty jump is the new safe jump.
Too bad shoryukens don’t give a fuck
New vids up on my channel - Please rip them apart if you have the chance.
Sets vs Bahn, Raventrinity, Kaco3000, and Dayasha.
Only watched the Dayasha ones, will offer more feedback when I got the time but two things I noticed…
A LOT of HSU’s and not a great deal of mix-ups, no empty jumps into cr.WK and LL, no jump away RH on wake up to hit him as he got up, you know that sort of thing…
The other thing I noticed, no df.RH (only one in like seven fights), why not man, I find this very useful against Chun’s and you have lots of mix-ups to do off the end of it… I was surprised by this as this is useful against Chun and done right can stuff EX SBK…
Anyway if I think of or see anything else I’ll write it in… No idea if this is useful to you at all but hey-ho hope it is :bgrin:
emptys have been like that for a looooong time, especially on the alpha series… but even on the streetfighter series.
case in point in a3: gens cr.fp beats EVERYTHING that gief jumps in with, however if gief empty jumps, gen flatout misses and gief gets a free spd.
lots of stuff like that going around… also gens a3 cr.fp and chuns sf4 st.fp have VERY similar angles… i think thats one of the big reasons why they wiff on empty jumps.
if you want to cut out all of that stupid empty jumping nonsense you can just use her far st.mk, thats why i rated it higher than her st.fp… it hits more stuff.
the trade off is that its harder to use… lol… o well.
since you’ve got good reactions… you may want to try to use far st.hk as an aa… its REALLY GOOD if you can get it out early enough consistently… then maybe mix it up with either cr.fp, sweep or cr.mp if you get a bit surprised…
thats what i’d do if i had better reactions.

Thanks for the advice. I’m pretty bad with cross-ups, so I’m not sure why I kept trying. I’ll be sure to keep what you said in mind.
Judge: You’re my boy and all but as I’ve said before: STOP. BUTTON. MASHING.
Those videos now serve as official evidence as to the source behind your execution woes.
More news after the break…
i have problems with that whiffing too :annoy:
yeah i noticed its the only move that consistently tags empty jumps
