Sounds like that Gief buffered in the 720 during the focus so even if you were open and within range for just one frame he could’ve got you.
damn thats cold, giefs ultra is annoying
Just curious about poking when you score a knock down. I notice Chun players putting out B&B during the “meaty” stages of a knock down. How safe is this? I’m pretty sure DP would blast right through it…My guess is the trick is to not always be predictable and use it all the time. My main question is about the safety of it vs most chars wakeups.
Jake
Meaty’s are always high-risk in this game, unless you have a good safe-jump, you’ve got to have a good read on your opponent to sneak one in. I think the best way to set them up is to give your opponent the idea that you have other options when you are stood close enough to them on knockdown to go for a meaty. Try and bait them into a mistake on wake-up first, like a reversal when you are just blocking and punish them with your best combo. The next time, they will be a little be more wary at throwing that reversal out there.
Dunno if this question has already been asked,
After FPx2 in the air, I find I can’t always land the 3 stomps to connect. Is it character specific, strict timing, or based on how high you catch the opponent in the air?
Depending at the height you connected the two fp may require you to dash (which I almost never do). In almost every scenario, you should be doing this approximately a half-second after the attacks land.
So basically FP, FP… land… jump up at 45 degree angle and instantly hold down to get all 3 hits.
jake: I’ve found it’s very risky to dish out BnB combos 24/7 because online, jabs/mashing are too good for characters like shotos to take Chun’s attacks out. Like Clx says, baiting is the best approach. Mix it up with two shorts/jabs… or even just one and attempt a tick throw. It’s a great way to feel out your opponent to see what they’re susceptible to.
Best way to master this would be to record the CPU jumping in on you so that you nail the execution.
B&B to ultra?
sometimes i miss and sometimes it connects. i dont understand the reason for this. but when u guys do it is the timing always teh same? or u do it depending on height of the fallen op?
but then again it could be delay from lag
I was actually looking for a replay from you the other day, but you didn’t have any uploaded
Come on looking at your GP rank there must be some cool matches you can show us!
Also I have questions: what does “meaty” mean? And what is a “tick throw”? I thought I knew, but apparently not.
I forgot what video I saw it in, but someone use Chun against Sagat and was doin’ cross-ups using the jumping d+mk. I saw him do it twice. I was wondering if that’s only done effectively against Sagat or tall characters. I’ve been trying it out in training for an hour and only managed to get it done twice.
Oh, and I just wanted to say I totally got my ass handed to me by Abel with some crazy combo I’ve never seen before. Kinda like a juggle into a grab. Tripped me out.
Sounds like he just hit you with cr. fp followed by his ex grab which catches airborne opponents.
Dashing during ultra motion…possible?
I’ve heard of people doing it but I couldnt do it with a gun to my head
I think it helps if you use an arcade stick. I use a controller and can’t dash ultra for the life of me.
I found dash forward ultra isn’t too hard on a PS3 controller… just practise it in training mode a bunch of times. The hardest part for me is going from the dash (forward, forward) to the rest of the input quickly enough (back, forward). Linking those two parts of the inputs has to be quick I found, but other than that it should come naturally.
I hear you.
I just got it down not too long ago, but even then, I can’t execute it at clutch moments where it would win me the game.
I’ve finally broken down and decided to get an SE, that I will mod myself … Didn’t think I would be enjoying SFIV as much as I am.
Hey I cannot watch replays anymore on PSN. Whenever I try to select one it says, “unable to retrieve replay data”. Has this happened to anyone else and is there a way to fix it?
Try restarting your PS3; otherwise, wait for the network to fix itself.
I had this Rufus who shut me down and kept me on defense (my defense is complete shit). So, I’m trying to work on my D, but I don’t know how to go about developing it. What can I do to get better under pressure like that?
tried this and even waited a day. guess Iwill wait
What do you do against opponents who perfectly time a level 3 FA on your wakeup when you have no armor breaking options like EX SBK, Super, or Ultra?
This Ken I played recently was destroying me with that move.
thx for replies
Reversal lk.hasan shu… I’m not sure if the FA will hit it anyway, but at least you are off the ground so he won’t get a crumple, just the FA damage (which isn’t exactly a good thing with Chun’s health).
Also backdash, works even in the corner, but you must time it correctly.
