Chun Li General Thread: Blue Jade

From the flawless tools of this character, Chun Fighter 5 is imminent at this rate. I really, really hope I’m wrong.

What about air-to-air mp, I remember that was cancellable and caused fall state when it hit, so it would lead to higher damage and you don’t get the weird positioning that air throw gives you

I saw like less than 10 chun lis played in the last beta, played like hundreds of games. Also she wasn’t very well represented on the ranking boards. Don’t believe the hype.

Yeah finding other Chuns was pretty rare. For me the rarest was Vega and the most common was (of course) the Ryu Army, though Chesty Laur-ue wasn’t far behind.

i think the reason why shes so good is because capcom nerfed every other character harder than her while she got minimal nerfs

Whilst true it isn’t 100% either, she was ridiculously fucking godlike in beta one and stronger than she is now just nobody played her. Remember her b.hk, counter hit st.hp into EX legs, air legs pressure being legit as fuck, stomps being able to mix-up super well, having an SF4 level Ken kara-throw, b.hp being able to be linked from instead of confirmed from.

She was a fucking demon in beta one, they’ve toned her WAYYYY down. She was just one of the strongest from day one.

She also had f.mp to st.mp combos and we really didnt need many buttons to use back then. I wouldnt be surprised if we get beta 1 chun li with beta 3 v trigger abilities.

Based on the latest information we have so far; I wanted to open discussion on Chun’s best situational combos:

VT Meterless combo (activation and already activated):

We could include Crush counters that utilize VT, but for fundamental sakes I wanted to keep it practical and not rely on too many resources.
The goal here is to basically compile a list of optimized go to combos for all skill levels going into SF5.

YA’LL FUCKERS MODDED THE BETA OKAY HAVE SOME CHILL.

I don’t know if these are the best combos, but they’re the ones I personally used during the beta (the exception being combos ending in short sbk, which I only found out was possible after the beta had ended). I’m not much of a combonaut so they’re pretty basic and easy to pull off.

Meterless CC: (DP PUNISH) RH, dash, Strong, Low Fwd x RH Legs / Short SBK
Meterless CC: (TRAP) Jab/Strong/F+Strong [Blocked], B+Fierce [Hit confirm] x RH Legs
1 Bar CC: Same as meterless, end with ex legs
CA CC: Same as meterless, end with super

VT Meterless: (LOW STARTER) Low Strong x VT, Strong, Low Fwd x RH Legs / Short SBK
VT Meterless: (HIGH STARTER) F+Strong x VT, Low Fwd x RH Legs
VT Meterless: (TRAP) Jab/Strong [Blocked], B+Fierce/Low Fierce x VT, Strong, Low Fwd x RH Legs / Short SBK
VT 1 Bar: Same as meterless, end with ex legs
VT CA: Same as meterless, end with super

I know for a fact that there are more/better/harder combos than those (and variations of them) but those are the ones I found myself using.

EDIT - Some of these probably won’t even work at launch and there will probably be new ones at launch that weren’t possible in the beta so I wouldn’t go too nuts committing this stuff to memory. I mean who knows, her basic bnb could be totally different come February.

Yeah this about what I expected from it. Pretty much the same combo’s we have been seeing just put into stun and done with super on the end.

Personally my favorite combo with her is blocking a DP in the corner then b. HP them on the way down into V-skill -> stomps. It is like meterless 30%+. Sexy. All hail our Chun overlords.

Going over the video left me with one question:

Were any of you consistently holding your charge, doing a st.mp and following it up with a fireball? I did a couple times by accident during phase 3, but I couldn’t exactly do it naturally.
