Oh ok. Wouldn’t be able to say right now. I would assume no since that would probably mean Ryu could also cancel normals into parry which I’m sure he can’t.
Ryu can’t, but Calli seems to be able to. I haven’t seen any Chun Li’s do it.
Sorry to be a bit offtopic but how were lines at EVO deviljin and why isn’t there any cam footage of matches? I was hoping for a huge dose of SFV from EVO…
The lines were pretty crazy, and eventually, all stations became “winner stays.” The last time I waited in line, it took about thirty minutes before i had the chance to play my one match. I actually didn’t see a lot of people recording. Only here and there.
Momochi did record some Ken stuff, and I think the video was already posted to YouTube.
As far as we can tell there are no combos out off her rapid kicks. But seems pretty safe to pressure after. Can probably get some sick follow ups. And omg that win animation is love.

[/quote]Didn’t Momochi already show that you can link cr.mp out of it?

Really? I think I’m gonna love chun-li. I can’t wait to play her in the beta.
Its confirmed that you can lin cr.lp after legs if the combo isn’t too big and the opponent is still close… cr.mk, legs, cr.lp to SBK was already shown on match…
Also, we’ve seem that non-ex legs is fairly unsafe, lots of people were punishing it on block.
Only 2 videos I got of me playing. I got a chance to fight Poongko’s Ryu but didn’t get a chance to record it.
As said the lines were long as hell and finding someone else in line to hold your phone and record you is tedious.
You can see I was mainly trying to use c.mk and f+mp as pokes. Was trying to ling c.mk off the f+mp but seems you have to be pretty close. Her senen shuu is pretty quick and gives her an overhead option that will make her easy to keep people off low block (not sure about safety on block). In V Trigger you will most likely be able to abuse it as it will probably be safer and convert into full combos.
Are you sure you can do f.MP into c.MK? I know s.MP is definitely possible but i haven’t seen f.MP non CH.
That probably is what Combofiend was trying to tell me. S.MP has even less range than f+mp though so that would pretty much require to be really close. Either way I did like f+mp a lot as a poke that hits standing and crouching opponents well. Most likely quicker start up than c.mk. c.mk still great long ranged low
S.hp does good damage and stun, but like 3S you have to be careful not to whiff.
Normal legs is murder on block. Was able to punish 30% meterless and 50%+ with v-trigger cancel and no super with ken on block. EX legs seemed safe.
Her v-skill works a bit like anti-air. Traded a couple of times, but the damage off it if you use an ex is pretty decent.
V-trigger makes her normals pretty scary as she is + on almost everything and probably gets new combo routes.
The problem with a move like LLegs being so negative on block is she’s so poke heavy that she needs to be able to apply some pressure.
on block. This could be rectified if Kikouken was motion, you can just treat it like Cr. Mk xx Fireball
Chun will really need to precise it seems.
From watching Djs vids as well as some other chun footage:
Chun looks like she might have some decent walking jab pressure.
If her v skill is a good AA then chun has fantastic AA ability in this game with bhk for shallow jumping and cross ups and v skill for jumping against further out people and perhaps sweep for people out further than that.
Her st.mk looks like a very decent poke for certain situations.
Her st.hp poke might be godlike in v trigger
Her air legs looks kinda bad at least from the positions that dj was using them from… They seem to have a very extended hurtbox.
She still looks like she needs a decent hitconfirm, right now she doesn’t seem to have a good one and that seems limiting since chun has ALWAYS had good hitconfirms.
Dj was using the poke string:
Fmp>cr.mk and the cr.mk was whiffing. A better look would seem to be fmp>sweep or st.hp… I know he was trying for the hitconfirm, but I’m just stating observations.
Not much dashing in the video and I think dashing might be another place where chun makes up for her lack of stuff… If her dash is really good. All in all chun is looking kinda like vega light… A fast walking priority poking character that has combos, but suffers not having as much priority as vega, while having better combos. She also has a fireball whereas vega doesn’t.
Primary thing looking to keep her down right now is lack of a decent hitconfirm. Once the confirm is found then I expect her to be looking much better… If she has a good confirm that is.
cr.mk seems rather insane. I feel it’s the reason they don’t want to make kikouken a fireball motion.
Dime_x, what area exactly do you think she lacks a hit confirm?
She has s.mp, cr.mk and s.lp, cr.mk. It also seems universal that you can cancel out of chains into some special moves. (ie: ryu can do cr.lp x3 into h tatsu; ken can do the same). Maybe she can do cr.lk x3 into legs, for instance.
Can you buffer super on a cr.mk?
I’m really talking about a “good” confirm. It’s less needed when a character has safe on block stuff.
But for a “good” confirm I generally think the confirm has these attributes:
Lots of confirm time.
Good range
Even on block or better
Can’t be ducked/reversaled through easily on block.
Nothing of what chun has seems to have many of these attributes, yet she has to spend meter to have a safe on block move that doesn’t have a huge hole in it. So right now her confirms look kinda suspect to me. Which wouldn’t be a problem if she had some safer spammable special on block, but she doesnt really look to have this and her kikoken being charge means she won’t always have access to it to make her stuff safe.
She has confirms, sure, but nothing is coming up good as of yet:
A2 chun fireball wasn’t charge iirc so she could cr.mk xx fireball anywhere for a decent block string/confirm.
ST chun had st.mp link into other normals, generally safe on block and did good damage and had good range even though the st.mp was close.
Sf4 chun has cr.lkx2 xx ex legs, or cr.lk,cr.lpx2, st.fp for no meter.
Right now from what I’ve seen this chun doesn’t have any great ways to confirm. It’s correct that cr.lk x n might be good but it hasn’t been seen as of yet afaik. And everything else I’ve heard about seems to lack serious range as well as only be 2 hits…
Actually i’d like tos ee if you can do c.LK, c.LP, c.LP xx SBK. According to DevilJin/Laban(?) (i forgot sorry) there are some moves that you can and cant chain from into specials, but if she can get this it’s at least something off of her lights.
St. Mk is looking like my go to poke atm.
Can anyone give me a rundown of Chuns tools? This will be my first time playing SF5 and I’m thinking of making Chun until Birdie is released. I don’t have the time to run through the whole thread either.
