Is back+Fierce a good wakeup meaty? I started using it against people when they stand up to stuff their buttons, but I cant tell if they’re just fucking up or if it’s that good.
It’s good if they back tech/no tech or in the corner. On quick rise expect to be jabbed out of it.
It’s alright if you can set it up. It has a lot of active frames. Problem is the slower start up so I’ve only been able to really meaty with it regularly in the corner. I generally only use it if they don’t tech, are in the corner or after a CC sweep.
i’m really trying to find ways to win against chun-li, and as soon as the skill level of both players is the same there is absolutely nothing you can do to beat every tool chun-li has.
Icrease charge times on fireball and SBK please, so we can at least zone her properly (still can avoid fireballs in a lot of ways) and she can’t combo into a knockdown from a jab to medium combo.
I dont have troubles beating chun with my secondaries.
Try a different character or use her yourself to figure out her weaknesses.
Not sure which is crazier, the fact that I just got back from vacation yesterday - downloaded Guile, went through his trials, demo and story and proceeded to body fools from Silver - Ultra Gold using basic Guile tactics.
Or not having played Chun for a week and miraculously being better with her than I was a week ago in every way.
Anyway.
I agree 100% with Dime, pick another character or use her!!!
USE HER!? what? and figure out how she is actually played to understand the mindset of Chun player??? no way.
Sorry but I can personally testify in support of this.
I have played every character in the roster a minimum of 50 matches in ranked/casual and in doing so has made my match ups much easier than someone who hasn’t.
I also recommend using training mode programming the CPU to do the very things people do in matches and see what you can do to punish it with your character. It’s fun and makes you feel like a scientist.
What are the best buttons for Chun Li to use during footsies? I’ve gotten bodied repeatedly in the footsie/neutral game by Necalli, Vega, and Karin the most (and sometimes Bison)… so I need a lot of help/practice on Chun Li’s best footsie options.
b/f+MP and st. HP are Chun’s best general-purpose attacks. st. MK seems generally worse than b/f+MP, but it has less pushback so prioritize using it when you are walking your opponent down. cr. MK and st. HK are pretty situational but yield the highest rewards. b+HP counterpokes.
HP/MP Kikokens are great against Vega and Karin as long as you don’t fall into a pattern with them.
Thanks for the info. I’ll try this out in my gameplay
Any chunners willing to help me improve my chun In some matches?
I would love to, although I’m not sure whether I’m in the general skill level that you’re looking for.
Whats a good way of doing st mp cr mk spinning bird kick. Cannot charge spinning bird kick on time consistanly enough
st.mp and instantly hold down like a plink, then you late cancel cr.mk
which version of instant air legs does everyone use? pros and cons between light and medium?
Medium is the one people generally use. I believe light has a higher height restriction and medium is more advantageous on block. Light is the best to use immediately after instant headstomp.
I also use light to go over fireballs. It’s much easier to execute and leaves you suspended in place for a shorter amount of time – you spend more time falling, and that just seems right to me. Not sure if the frame data is on my side with that…
The frame data is on your side until someone proves that it’s not.
Every now and then I revisit the 2 early SFV gameplay trailers and the first match and cry. Let’s see what fun things they removed from Chun:
- That special cancelable 3 hit medium punch
- Lighting legs knocking up opponents to follow up with a sweep or crouching jab for a reset at mid screen for no meter.
- df.lk which would’ve allowed her to get an air combo off of an anti air (and would’ve been perfect to combo into V-Skill!). Would’ve been more fun than s.lk into a 50/50.
- That air spin kick that ground bounced for an OTG f.hk.
- Her old b.mk, mk, du.mk traget combo which had been changed to allow her to combo ex. sbk afterwards without needing to be in the corner unlike in SF4.
- Her CA being jump cancelable.
I know that that Chun would’ve been OP in current SFV, but the fact that she was so powerful then implied that SFV’s gameplay was originally gonna not be so painfully limited.
Nice chun to @CharmingRogue
Looked pretty nice despite that crazy fang from xian. Liked your overall spacing and thought processes throughout the match.
All of that pre beta SFV stuff reminded me too much of SFxT. It would have been fun, but I like how she turned out. Lots of good buttons and V Trigger makes her a little more anime.
