I guess I’m just more accustomed to people complaining since I came up in SoCal and playing against top players and hearing them complain about characters, I can separate complaining from simple scrubbiness or choose to give people the benefit of the doubt.
If I was dealing with him in real life yeah maybe I’d get into the whole psychology of it and say “yeah I understand but blah blah”.
This is a message forum though. Not here for all the real life dramatics on a message forum. You got an issue, then state it. If your’e going to add your emotions into the frame data and matchup theory then I’m not gonna be bothered. It derails the thread into multiple posts about his behavior which goes nowhere and shows he’s not ready for the help.
Read his first post again. The only thing he says that is “complaining” is him saying that any matchup she plays is going to be really disadvantaged for the other character.
That’s a far cry from needing to be told off for complaining. I mean judge it how you will, but there’s a lot of butthurt going on, and not from old mate.
Nah, definitely not. First he’s going to correct US and then he’s going to tell US that it would just be easier if they nerfed her jabs to 4 frames. You can’t ask for advice, then point out how the matchup really goes as if you knew even though you were the one asking the question. After that you just come out with the idea that it would just be easier to nerf something of hers when her only reversal requires a charge any way. He’s not really asking a question anymore. At that point he’s trying to answer his own question with something we won’t even agree with and then just go “oh hey take a nerf too”. What the hell are we supposed to think with that type of confused messaging? It’s not longer just a question, but going in like 3 different directions for whatever reason.
That’s like if I was complaining about Karin, saying that she always finds a way in because her walk speed and jump is too good and then say they should make her c.MP only plus 2 and make her EX DP 4 frames slower. I do not expect anyone to give me a serious answer at that point.
I’ll let others give him what would be a best answer, but I won’t even touch the nerfing thing or what his ideas are or how the matchup just works where Chun has a direct answer to everything you will try everytime. That’s for people with more time on their hands.
That’s my last on it. Don’t even bother messaging me about this again cuz I won’t respond. Next issue.
Bision has to many good buttons free pressure and you have to sit there and take it frame trap after frame trap into grab mixup. Ryu zones so hard. Jumping is not a option Shoyruken!! even when i’m not even remotely close it still hits me.
I said first post. You took things from the second post, the one AFTER he was told he was complaining… At that point shit was a flame war so, yeah.
Look at the FIRST POST again.
I’m fine to leave sleeping dogs lay, dude ain’t even in here but done say shit that don’t even make sense. He was probably just a troll anyways but if mofos can’t even tell a first from a second post idk. And yeah it means something,
Once someone comes in and turns the thing into a shitstorm basically everything following that is fucked.
Like I said the only thing he said in his FIRST post that could be taken harshly was chun has no bad matchups. He got responded to in a shit way and became defensive. Like what would naturally happen if any random person with few posts were responded to in a shit way.
Moving on, the point of this is to tell people to save that shit. Respond to people in an intelligent fashion, don’t simply jump on someone cause you had a shit day and you think you can get away with using said person to make yourself feel better.
Um no, you are wrong. He asked his question, while also saying that she has no bad matchups.
He was IMMEDIATELY responded to IN THE VERY NEXT POST as “one really good gameplan is to stop complaining and acting like a victim, probably”
That is the VERY FIRST SENTENCE OF THE NEXT POST.
Now, his SECOND post is where he waxed poetic on the stupidity of the reply post was where he went full scrub and shit… AFTER he was told he need to stop complaining.
Nigga was in fight mode at that point.
Y’all niggas acting like he just walked into a room and started punching people, never acknowledging that someone basically hit him first.
The only reason I’m even arguing this is because it isn’t right and I don’t want some other noob coming in here and getting shat on in the same way.
Shits fucking unamerican and you mofos should be ashamed.
Oh and in case there really is some inability to see his first post in here, I’ll even quote it and the reply to it:
Then you need to go back and read all his post begining on page 50. He already had 3 post complaining about Chun and the matchup before the “victim” comment. In one post he says he can’t do ANYTHING against her. No footsies, no jumping, no zoning, can’t get close etc etc. Then in another post he starts saying she’s broken. Sorry, like I said, he came off as a huge whiner and didn’t at all seem like he wanted help. He just kept crying about how broken she was and how she needed nerfs. That’s why that guy said he needed to stop acing like a victim and complaining. You’ can’t be asking for help when you’re already mentally broken. Maybe if his post on page 51 was his first, he wouldn’t have gotten that response.
No one in this forum is trying to gang up on newbs or whatever. People have been helpful to the newbies in the beginners thread without incidents. But if you’re gonna come into this thread with the mentality of “I can’t win no matter what Id o or what you say” no one’s gonna care.
But what does it matter anyway. He DOESN"T want our help cause he dismisses every piece of advice we tried to give him. He’s just here to complain imo. But whatever
That does change things. I wasn’t aware of his previous posts on the last page. That’s my bad. I’m not going to go and read them, but I’ll take your word for it.
But you can understand how it looks if all someone saw was his posts on this page and the replies to said posts.
Blah Ryu players are free to my Chun-Li
and Chun-Li players are free to my Ryu
Not an entirely accurate comment, filled with arrogance and pride but I don’t see the problems with the match up.
But since he’s a scrub,
Eh- Ryu, F+Hp so safe, J. Lk broken, lands CA off anything, mindless VT setups blah! whine, cry,
There is a shirt for this guy it reads: Nerf Buff Patch
Adapt
So I finally filled the biggest hole in my game which is stopping people from mashing jab to open up chun’s throw game.
cr.lp delay cr.lk s.lp. Simple yes but the delay is the most important part. Since you can late chain cancel cr.lp and chain it into cr.lk it can become a frame trap and can be hit confirmed into s.lp legs or if you have the charge s.lp light sbk. I think this is super pivotal in opening up her throw game.
So here’s my thoughts on what chun’s game will evolve too. As people get better execution and can start hitting confirming s.mp and b.hp, it’ll become large part of her game to be on point with her meterless combo. She’ll become super scary with super because any ch f.mp or whiff punish s.hp will lead into super. People will be afraid to throw out pokes or at least be more careful with them so that’ll give chun openings to dash in.
Fishing for crush counter will be vital to her game as well. For one, crush counters give chun half of a bar of v-gauge. All it takes is 4 CCs to get v.trigger. Probably less since you’ll eventually take damage. I believe it’s very important for her to get v-trigger as soon as possible. As with super, f.mp and s.hp will lead to a combo on hit or massive + frames on block to get a mix up in. It also makes her shimmy game disgusting. F.mp and s.hp will both lead into cr.hp legs combo and does disgusting damage. I don’t know why chuns throw away v.trigger on cr.mp VTC.
So lets take a look at her crush counter buttons. S.hk is a viable button but should be used with caution. It is beat by ducking and low pokes but it stops people from advancing forward and on characters who like to poke standing can crush counter them if they get too predictable. Not too much to say about it.
b.hp. I think is a wonderful button that people aren’t abusing enough. On CC, can be easily hitconfirmed into regular legs/super. If you are bad at hitconfirming ex legs can hit late or you can just sweep. It is also +2 on block and point blank, s.lp becomes a 2 frame frametrap that can combo on CH to sweep or f.mp. It also leaves you at a distance where IALL will leave chun at point blank on block and let chun use IALL as a point blank tick throw set up. Can also set up the shimmy game by walk foward and walking back or just straight up walk into them and b.hp and reset the situation if they are just downbacking. Use it after an AA reset, meaty, or throw bait with cr.lp walk foward b.hp, or counter poking.
cr.hk. Well it’s a sweep LOL.
I think people are starting her block strings with lights too much. s.mp is +3 and with practice can be hit confirmed into a sbk combo or if you can’t hit confirm, you can put an extra s.lp which is a 1 frame frame trap and can hit confirm into hard legs/ex legs or autopilot f.mp or sweep. Like b.hp, you can also set up the shimmy game or tick throw with IALL.
It does but it’s not worth it. cr.mk doesn’t allow you to play the cross under game and most people will just end up taking the throw since the damage is comparable to if you just ended with legs anyways. I would use s.lp and play the left right game so at least you can get a bigger payout with an sbk combo.
It’s funny cuz I talked to Rayray at my local monthly and he said he feels it’s better to mainly pressure with lights since the pushback is less than on s.MP. I guess it’ll probably overall be a mix of using lights to stay in throw range while using your mediums for white chip and hit confirming. She has some of the more universal meaty set ups with her f+HK off MK SBK and EX legs also.
When I first started playing, and when nuki first started playing as well, we both were using walking jabs a lot. Now neither of us really use them that much… They just aren’t super effective from what I’ve seen. The problem is they don’t have the greatest blockstun. So it’s easy to just jab out. Of course the jab out can be frame trapped… But chun doesn’t have any great frame traps outside of BHP. Maybe if I revisit BHP in this scenario I’ll change my mind, but when I was doing it, it was just getting me lots of blocked jabs and then I get interrupted.
Alioune seem to have the best overall answer for how to play chun aggressively. He just throws out a lot of pokes at weird but specific timings and controls the pace like that.
Does anybody know about the backdash feint that Chun can do? It’s like she does a mini spin in the early frames of the backdash but stays on the spot.
I have a recording of it on my phone but I haven’t uploaded it anywhere yet. I’ve seen it a handful of times but I’m still unsure as to what causes it. It would be nice to master as its another movement option.
Seeing as that is a replay, if that’s your video, maybe you can turn the key display on and see if there’s a way to recreate it by copying the inputs in practice mode.
