It’s been a while since I’ve visited the forums, can you explain what you mean by safejumps making EX SBK obsolete? Thanks.
You can time a meaty jump in so that it won’t get hit by EX SBK. You can even option select a punish- Ryu can jump in with option select fierce SRK to beat both backdashes and EX SBK.
Hey… anyone else getting cr.FP -> EX legs when all you want is regular legs? Annoying as hell.
I’m trying to think of a better way to pull it off, but sadly, since I’m sliding I don’t know if its possible. Still, knock down isn’t terrible I guess…
for me it tends to happen alot more when i play on default config when on 8 button sticks (cause the 3k button gets pushed sometimes)
so i just make sure that i have 3k and 3p disabled and voila, alot less ex lightning legs.
my problem and the main reason why i dont use that combo s because i cancel into focus about half the time cause i just BARELY graze the mp button when sliding.
and that fuck up loses me 2 bars at the least, and at most it gets me comboed to boot.
so i stay my sloppy execution ass away from that combo. besides i like hk xx exlegs better since it does more damage and doesnt need a 1 frame link.

I never get ex legs from c.hp, I only get mk/hk legs or nothing at all.
walnut shrimp: cl.hk x hk legs, c.lk x ex legs does a lot of damage if I’m not mistaken, it’s her most damaging consistent focus combo afaik.
Slowly but surely I’m getting the piano for c.fp xx legs down. I really dislike sliding.
You still use c.fp(ring) + lk(thumb), -> hk(ring) -> mk(middle) -> lk(index) -> hk(ring) to piano it?
I never use my thumb when I play, my piano has always been c.fp(middle) + mk(index), -> hk(ring) -> mk(middle) -> lk(index)
The pianos I use are.
c.hp x legs
c.hp~hp+mk, hk~mk~lk, hk/mk
c.mk x ex legs
c.mk~lk, mk~lk, mk+lk
c.lk x ex legs
c.lk~lk+lp, hk~mk~lk, lk+mk
st.mp x ex legs
st.mp+lk, hk~mk~lk, lk+mk
cl.hp x ex legs
st.hp+lk, hk~mk~lk, lk+mk
cl.hk x ex legs
cl.hk~mk~lk, lk, lk+mk or cl.hk~mk~lk, hk, lk+mk
I also use the same method for dash ex legs or when I want to have legs buffered in something.
Oh my goodness this is so much easier than using my thumb. What was I thinking? Thanks Skatan.
Love this one. Great for punishing when cl.st.rh doesn’t reach.
Also, I’ve been using c.mk xx HK legs to pressure certain characters on wake-up. Same piano but with roundhouse at the end.
This still baffles me.
When do you use cl.st.hp into EX legs? It seems cl.st.rh is the same, but just a lot easier to piano.
Be sure to plink c.hp~hp+mk, it’s going to help a lot if you ever decide to learn the c.hp x hk legs, mk legs, c.hp x hk legs, mk legs, c.hk.
I use it for example against Dhalsim after a focus attack since cl.hk can randomly whiff against him, or against Rufus after a df+hk that doesn’t hit extremely deep since his hit animation can make cl.hk whiff, also if he’s hit while crouching cl.hk will also whiff.
Requesting a video tutorial for this method of c.hp xx legs, any out there already?
MagMan goooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

Ok, I’ve seen that method already. I thought we were talking about a non-slide method.
Non-slide method? Just think about it. There’s not much to explain.
Skatan’s posts above cover it quite nicely.
I can’t piano it, that’s why I asked for a video on pianoing. Mags video is a slide.
Skatan’s post sounded like a piano method with a style similar to Mr. SNK’s Honda HHS vid () . So if this method is possible (I haven’t been able to do it without sliding), then I would like to see a video of it. If no such video exists, then no big deal.
so it would do better damage than say cr fp x hk legs,mk legs, ex legs(or cr lk/mk x exlegs)?
on another note, i’m getting kinda confused on when to go for the sweep after mk legs. from the magman video it always looked like he did it right after he inputted mk legs. that looks odd since she would still be in her animation wouldn’t it?
BTW this is Ramennoodle the seimetsu chun from SB4, for those that remember that far back.
Oh yeah, I remember meeting you at SB4. Where you been at?
Around. entering tourneys here in stl. I don’t really post cause I don’t have much constructive things to say.
I’ll be at MWC.
But as far as that combo, I Just kinda eye it when chun is about to be done with her mk legs, and go for the sweep. That’s hardly ideal. When do you guys go for it?
I have a hard time with the timing too, mainly because sometimes not all the legs hit and if some don’t hit the timing is different. Sometimes, I just mash on HK~MK when it gets towards the end and it works pretty well. scrubtastic
yeah I tried to mash HK~MK, but if I do it too much I get ex legs. Which combos, but still. there’s gotta be a better way.
Actually, you’re missing something. Chun’s close standing attacks aren’t technically chainable. It’s difficult to tell because they’re easy to link from, but that’s what the frame data says, and if you put turbo on and look at the speed of cr.jab > cr.jab versus cs.jab > fs.jab the later is a lot slower.
So I looked through the frame data to see who had a chainable light, and a non-chainable light which was special cancelable, and see if they could do it too.
I found a couple of characters with those properties, Rose even has it on a close attack, but none of them seemed to work like Chun.
