Chun-Li Combos and Glitches

It has some invincibilty, yes. That’s why it works as an AA and reversal DP substitute.

Dragon kick? You mean Hurricane kick? Block

ok your going to think im stupid but why is c.lk>c.lk>c.lk>cancelEXlegs such an important combo ,when should i be using it and why is c.lk refered to a the kick of death

3 shorts is 1 short too many in most cases IMHO. The combo’s important, cus what else are you going to verifiably combo into? The knockdown gets you a mixup or Ultra/EX SBK juggle if you’re near the corner. You can walk forward and do it, no charge needed. Which lets you dash in or randomly/unexpectedly FADC since you’re +1 afterwards. You can’t just stick out normals and it’s her best verifiable combo.

thanks 4 the info i was wondering if it was better to let all 3 shorts come out before EX legs i usually get out 2 . also the crouch+foward fliping kick u know the one that hits them in the back of the head i dont see many Chuns using this but ive used it quite a bit when im expected to somthing meaty should i stay away from this move .

Just wondering how to do c.fp followed immediately by sbk. Is it just a timing issue or there is some sort of trick?

If you’re doing it after a connected FA, charge down right after inputting the dash then wait a half second after the dash before hitting the c.FP xx MK SBK. Only the first hit of c.FP is cancellable, btw.

is there a way to combo chuns FAlvl2 > ultra?

I actually haven’t tried this yet, though I’ve been meaning to. I’m not sure if letting the FA2 animation finish without canceling into dash will make te Ultra whiff or cause an air-reel/reset. If it doesn’t then there you go XD. If it does reset them, you could try doing F,B,F before the hit which will cause a dash cancel and press KKK after the dash.

I was playing as Chun Li night and noticed that standing medium kick forces a crouched opponent to block high or else they will get hit. Is there anything I can link out of performing the standing medium kick?

More Fun With Links:

You can link LK Lightning Legs into EX Lightning Legs. This may be character specific since hitboxes during hitstun/hitreel, and hitboxes in general, are all kinds of wonky in SFIV. So you can do close standing HK, LK Legs, EX Legs.

You can link far standing HP after LK Legs.

Links into Super:
LP
far standing MP
far standing HP
-If you want to link Super from a crouching LP, far standing HP, limit the crouching LPs you do to two. Throwing in a third crouching LP scales the combo’s damage so much that it does less damage than if you only do two LPs.
crouching HP (after the second hit)
LK
crouching MK
close standing HK

Links into Ultra:
diagonal j.HP (second j.HP), land, Ultra [Credit for this goes to J050 I think]
counterhit LP, Ultra [Credit to dime_x]
counterhit far standing MP, Ultra
counterhit MK Hazan Shu, Ultra

Crouching LP, far standing HP link:
This combo should work on any standing opponent. It can also work on some characters while they are crouching. Those characters are: Abel, Boxer, El Fuerte, Fei Long, Gen, Gouken, Guile, Rose, Sagat, Sakura, and Seth.

EX Lightning Legs, Ultra juggle near corner:
Certain characters will frequently fall out of the Ultra, meaning the finisher, the last kick into the vertical SBK/stomp, will not hit. Azrael posted about this in the now defunct The Chun-Li Thread. So the characters the juggle and finisher will connect on reliably are: Ryu, Ken, Sagat, Claw, Blanka, Rufus, Rose, Dhalsim, Zangief, Honda, and Seth. The Japanese wiki says it can also connect on Boxer and someone in another thread said it can also connect on Fei Long. I’ve found that the corner juggle on Boxer and Fei Long are very unreliable and they fall out of the juggle more often than not.

The characters that do not juggle reliably are: Abel, Dictator, Akuma, Guile, Chun-Li, C. Viper, El Fuerte, Gouken, Cammy, Sakura, Gen, and Dan.

Didn’t you ask this in another Chun thread? And didn’t I answer this there too? The answer you’re looking for is on the first page of this thread, dude. I’ll say it again:

Chun-li can combo a full Ultra off of a counterhit Lv1 Focus Attack or any hit Lv2 and Lv3 Focus Attack. You can find out how to do it here and here.

Chun-Li’s Frame Data can be found here or on the Shoryuken wiki. Close standing MK is -4 on block and -1 on hit. Translation: you can’t link off of it.

Quick one, since I didn’t see it posted: MK Hasan Shu, c. lk, EX legs, ultra. Timing’s a bit strict, but it works in corner.

Thought I should post this in here, since it is a combo

This is most likely old, seen before, but regarding the moment from 3:40, is he holding DB to charge the SBK, then UF to hit the SBK, then DB and F for the finish???

I always did it because it wasn’t hard and was more ensured as opposed to not doing it. I will try and edit my post later on and give you a sure answer…matter of fact I’ll turn on my PS3 and try it now  .

edit: I just tried it 5 times, could not get it without the UB charge and was convinced that it is necessary.

edit 2: You may want to know, but if you do it too close, you get too many hits and they fly the other way, so if you can control it, try to do it at a foot’s space away to have them fly into the corner where you want them  .

That’s insane, I don’t think I would’ve thought of that if I hadn’t seen the vid if I’m honest. Thanks for teh confirmation man.

ok so ive been trying the posted method againt shotos problem is hasan sho dosent work on akuma peroid ive had some random luck with ryu and ken but if they dont suck they know thats about chuns only anti FB option outside of ultra and if they are not completely stupid they will jump in on u now i deal with this by either RH air grab or block high then low thing is their jump is quik and shallow and playing online with lag makes the timing difficult … im not completely sold on hasan sho either it FA bait and easily eats srks all day…as far as akuma im like???unless the players a complete retard

Don’t use it too much. What I do when I notice they’re throwing fireballs non stop is FA absorb then dash forward and occasionally, if I’m in range, I’ll hazan shu over the next one but you can do other things like jump straight up over it.

Just try not to be too eager to get in. Playing Chun in this game is more about patience.

err how bout gouki ?

I thought it always has been?

Try asking in the Chun Li Strategy and Matchups thread. I know he’s been discussed there and I’m sure they can give you a better answer than I could. I haven’t fought very many Gouki’s.

Haha, maybe it has, but Alpha 2 Chun can be pretty aggressive. :wonder:

thanks shiningsoul! well i asked a similar question, before i asked how to dash into super.
