Chun-Li Combos and Glitches

Maybe you’re hitting the second cr. jab meaty so you get more frame advantage… like if you hit with the first jab and the character leans back out of range of the first active frame of the jab but comes back for the second or third frame. Who’d you do it to?

Try doing a cr. short > cr. jab > st. fierce to E. Honda and the firece goes through his body bullshit!

I did it to Abel and Ryu respectively. It was on accident both times… I thought they were going to block so I just did cr. jab x 2 and cr RH to try and push them away from me.

Maybe your explanation is what happened but I really wish it was just a one time occurrence so I wouldn’t worry about it. I’m gonna go sleep on it for now.

I got it. On crouching Ryu, aim the tip of your jab to hit him around the logo of the glove on his right arm (he’s on the left side). If you do it right, you should notice a slight delay before he’s hit with the second jab that appears to hit him beyond his body and you should combo into sweep.

You’re right. That’s how it works (has nothing to do with counter hit either… sorry about that). I forgot to mention they were both crouching and I tested it before I read your post. It looks like any move that has 7 frames startup can be comboed from it as well (cr RH, St. Strong, Ultra, etc.) because of that effect.

So… meaty cr. Jab chain/link possibilities anyone? :wonder:

Edit: Okay I’m going to bed for real this time.

is this character specific? or can it be done on every character?

Hmm looks like it’ll have to be tested for each Char like for example on a crouching Rufus you can do:

cr. Jab x 5 (last cr. Jab hits meaty), then cr. RH for 6 hits. Does 209 damage.

or cr. Jab x 5 (last cr. Jab hits meaty), then link Ultra for 26 hits. But that only does 368 damage because the cr. Jab x 5 (5 moves) has scaled it down so much. But if you space it a bit farther and confirm the meaty you can link the ultra within less cr. jabs so it wouldn’t scale as much.

Quick edit: On crouching Seth (and prolly most other Chars his size) you can get the meaty cr jab. on him on the 4th hit so cr. jab x 4 (4th hit meaty) will link into Ultra for 25 hits and 401 damage. On Seth that’s not bad IMO.

I’ll test it more when I get back from class and work.

cool find darklight, i wonder if there are any other setups foer meaty hits for other moves versus other characters… like cr.mp…

BnB to Ultra

Ok need some help on this pls.

I can’t seem to land the full Ultra after the c.lk,c.lk, EX legs into ULTRA.

The ultra will hit a few times and the leg that kicks the guy up always misses. Anyone knows what I’m doing wrong?

What character are you trying it on? It’s character-specific.

Also, you are doing it in the corner, right?

BnB into Ultra needs to be done within corner distance. Im not exactly sure but Id say you can be about 1/4 stage from the screen and land it. If you are a little out of distance, land another Ex Legs to increase the distance

Yeah I’m doing it in the corner vs Dan in challenge mode because I’m lazy to do the settings in Training mode.

I can land the EX SBK to Ultra but not EX legs into Ultra. :frowning:

Tried different heights but still didn’t land all hits. The kick which hits the opponent up into the very cool animation doesn’t land everytime.

Ahem.

^^ AI people obviously cant read…

mog its CHARACTER SPECIFIC…

also it CAN hit most everyone on the cast but the range from the corner on the harder characters is ludicrous
read around the forums to see which characters it easily hits…

Gotta love the sarcasm in these forums. :o

Anyway, I found this in another post to help some pple out there finding answers.

IMPORTANT NOTE: The ultra juggle doesn’t work on every character! There are a few who will fall out of it before the launcher can connect. These characters are: Guile, Abel, Bison, Chun-Li, and C.Viper. (Will update this list with the console characters when that information becomes known).

Added to list is Dan I guess as a console character.

since you guys are talking about ultra juggles:

http://forums.shoryuken.com/showpost.php?p=6829910&postcount=1221

that’s something i’ve been working on. i won’t have time to keep testing this until tomorrow.

if you want to avoid all the unnecessary words, a summary is about halfway into the post.

It’s not that bad honestly, it just takes some getting used to.

For those that aren’t easily juggled, you just have to ensure you’re hitting them with the tip of Chun’s feet … They will juggle if you get it right. The timing is only bad the first couple of times, but with practice it becomes second nature.

Too bad Chun’s ultra isn’t like Bisons though, he can combo into his just like her except instead of having to be in the corner, he gets full Ultra anywhere on the screen on anyone on the cast … Then again, Chun has more than one way to juggle into Ultra so I’ll stop complaining.

are you talking about in training mode??? cause i’m talking about in a real game where you dont have control over where you hit your opponent with the ex legs starter…

also the reason why chuns doesnt get an easy juggle like bison is because bison doesnt get the ability to go through fireballs (when at near fullscreen range). this is one of the primary ways capcom balanced the ultras… the ones with furthest range/ damage are generally harder to hit. whereas the shortest ones like rufus’ for example, are a helluva lot easier… who knows why vegas and guiles ultras got the shaft… i think it may be because both characters can shut down so many options on people that are trying to get in on either character…

Lol, no not training mode, I’m talking about juggling off of her J.HP x2 … There’s ample time for you to dictate how you want your opponent juggled depending on where you juggle them, when in the jump arc you juggle them and, although it is less of a factor than the other two, when you input the command for Ultra off of the juggle.

I really don’t bother with Ultra off of EX legs with those that don’t connect, you don’t get to dictate when/where you want to EX legs :shake:

But yeah, it’s not very viable unless you have someone who loves to jump in on you … But then again, I find a lot of people jumping in on me when they realize my AA poke game isn’t a sure thing. I’ve managed to connect full Ultra on another Chun, Balrog and a Dictator and the spacing isn’t character specific, at that distance the other half of the cast will eat full Ultra.

Few questions:

  1. Say you land a jumpin with FP x2…what is the best followup? I know you can do j.fpx2 -> c.fpx2…but there must be a better BNB that still doesn’t need a very tight link (i.e. works consistently online and off).

  2. I saw a vid where someone jumped in with a kick and comboed it into a fierce SBK (not ex). What could that combo have been?

  3. What combo options does she have that lead to HSU?

  1. Probably Cl. RH xx EX Legs. Or Cr. FP xx MK SBK

  2. I’d take a guess at Jump. Roundhouse, but I wouldn’t bother with that combo.

  3. I assume you mean Hasan Shu. In which case, Close Roundhouse on counterhit and thats about it.
