Real talk, I don’t believe that Chun should be number 1, or even tied for number one. She’s certainly high in the tier list in my opinion, but I don’t think she’s at the top.
How is it that we’re spoiled, anyway? It’s not like Chun is the new Sagat, where you don’t have to work hard for your wins (not dishing on Sagat, just saying his damage was too high and Uppercut trades into Ultra were stupid). Chun has to really work for her wins, and a player needs to really have solid footsies, zoning and normals to use her well. Sure she has a lot of tools, but no standard tool for everything. It’s all matchup-specific.

She’s not overpowered at all, but she’s insanely good… Sort of sad though when I spend all my time since SSF4 came out trying to Guy, then random select Chun one day and go 10-0 against a friend I normally play even with though, lawl.
how are her footsies compared to 3s chun? how much damage can she do when someone mashes out uppercut and you don’t have ultra? why did her neutral jump roundhouse suck so much in vanilla and is it fixed now? thanks.
Chun has some of the best footsies in the game. I never got deep into 3S so I can’t make a comparison there, but she definitely has some really good pokes.
She also has a lot of very damaging meterless combos to be used as punishers.

I got my first bit of hatemail on psn regarding this the other day, something along the lines of. “Playing as the best character in the game you must not have to work hard for your wins.” I don’t think thats true at all, I still believe you have to put some effort in to win with Chun its not like you can mash specials or abuse anything you have to have at least some skill in execution and footsies etc. Plus i don’t think she is the best, top tier when used correctly. My opinion. As a side note what was ever wrong with neutral jump roundhouse?
- I still think the tier lists are wrong, I don’t think Chun is the best in the game.
- Technically she’s not THE BEST, if you look at the tier chart she’s tied for 1st with E.Honda, which technically makes her second. Don’t fire back at the haters with this though, they’ll just flame you more.
- Just because Chun is high on the tier list doesn’t mean she doesn’t have to work for her wins. A lot of matchups still require the player’s reaction and execution to be on point.
- Haters gonna hate.
i’ve been saying that chun isn’t the best in the game, but niggas always call me crazy and say i don’t know what I’m talking about…
a lesson from a 3s chun. let them fear your character, wear the badge of number one proud. the character is going to get you a free win when they decide they can’t beat it or that they fear it already. MIND GAMZ

That was kinda pretty lol. I’ve played Chun since SF2 I’d play as her if she had 2HP and only did 1 damage I’m a fan. Tier lists mean nothing to me you should play as who you like IMHO.
Damn right, Chun-Li is my favourite Character in the Street Fighter Series, only thing, I kind of don’t like losing as her, so I play as someone else. Hurts me to see Chunny get a beating. Especially because of me, cuz well, I suck.
Fact: Makoto sucks. Everyone else is playable, and someone will have your number. And that someone isn’t a character, but the person behind the stick.
Very true I love seeing low tier characters getting some love and people using them to their full potential.
Do I look better losing with a controller?

The match-up chart that event hubs quotes has actually changed a bit recently. Bison is #2 now and Chun is tied for #3 with Guile. And she loses to Ken 4-6.

I don’t know why people care about these tier lists. Sure its an outline of what people think of the characters, but that shouldn’t make you not wanna play them just because other people think they’re bad. Tier lists aren’t really facts, just what people think of the characters and where they stand in the game, just opinions.
