Chronicle the Movie Thread

Considering the movie had a 12 million dollar budget and looked that good, you could only think had they dropped 100 on it they could have torn Seattle apart.

I really liked the movie, I was supposed to go with a few friends to see it AGAIN today, but shit got in the way.

It’s worth seeing at least once.

The movie was pretty solid to me. It’s not the best in any category (screenplay, cinematography, special effects), but it did pretty well in them.

It’s better than those movies that put a shitload in to special effects, but then end up with a shitty story or vice versa.

Was this the director’s first major film? If so, I want to see his other stuff. I enjoyed it enough to want to see more from him.

As far as a sequel/prequel: you know that shit is gonna happen. I just hope the the director isn’t tempted to shoehorn something into the storyline. It’s good as it is.

As long as he doesn’t turn into another M. Night…that would just suck.

One of the best movies to come out in a long time. My only real gripe is
[spoiler=]
I wish it had been longer! Seriously! They did a great job telling Andrews story with his upbringing, rise to popularity (though brief) and his ultimate crash which made him go crazy. Him being burned was a great visual for the audience. it was a way to show how andrew felt on the inside. Amazing stuff.
With that said though, the rise and fall of andrew seemed very rushed. I wish the movie would have been 30-45 minutes longer so they could have fleshed out the characters more. especially Andrew’s psyche.

Fucking amazing movie regardless though.

Twilight made me ashamed to be from Washington State. Chronicle made me proud again.

Fucking ammmaaazzziiinnnnnggg

I basically told this to one of my friends who was like “SO WAS WAS AKIRA! LOLOLOL!” and he got super pissed at me.

it had better actions scenes than every super hero movie that has dropped in the last 3 year or so besides 1st class and even then Its close.

I enjoyed the action in this movie more than ironman/GR/TDK/X3/ etc etc…

I guess technically this wasn’t a superhero movie though so meh…

What? You thought crap in Wolverine Origins or Iron Man, etc. was better? Cmon dude even the directors themselves know what’s up. You that big of a Fantastic Four fan lol?

Exactly.

And we’re not even trying to compare it to a superhero movie except in that regard. But watching it, its not hard to think to yourself, "Why couldn’t (insert movie here) battle been this legit?

If that never crossed someone’s mind in the slightest, then they probably enjoyed Hancock, have a Green Lantern collectors edition on blu-ray, and already pre-ordered SF x T.

Hollywood is full of fail these days. People need to wake the hell up. This flick was solid on many levels but here we are just arguing on how some kids fucked up a city…the right way. And more convincingly than first 3 X-Men movie Mags ever could.

The only time someone has questioned the legitimacy of superhero fights have been in the crappy ones. Far be it for me to say that Chronicle had legit action which it did but it wasn’t something that made me excited like say stuff i’ve seen in Iron Man, X2, Captain America, Thor, etc…

It didn’t have the telltale wire support movements (bobbling bodies when thrown, kicking legs as if running while jumping, arms flailing when a character leaps at opponent headfirst) that marvel movies have. That, and their sorry choices of special effects that come off looking fake as fuck half the time except for levitating objects and Wolverines claws make all the xmen movies, and spider-man 3 duds in my book. Chronicle is better and more believable when it comes to action scenes. Sorry.

Oh look, some ignorant Watchmen fanboy who will deny at all times that nothing can even compare to the comics. And even if you aren’t a fanboy you can’t deny how good that movie was.

The Watchmen film was disappointing for reasons beyond it just not being the comic, though nice jumping to conclusions.

It’s pretty clear that the person who wrote the character “Andrew” owes a lot of credit to the person who wrote “Testuo.”
(And people scream “Andrew!!” in dramatic fashion.)

In any case they’re both great movies

Lies. Akira was never great.

I never read the manga I saw it when I was really young, all I remember is nothing made sense, some guy came out of a glass jar labeled Akira and disappeared, and then someone else turned into a giant blob.

The End.

I’m really sick of the Blair Witch shit but the trailer looked reall fucking on point definitely hyped to see it this weekend, it looks like it will be a genuinely honest take on young people who happen to obtain super powers not the other way around.

bout to watch this shit right now.

I liked the film (good but forgettable), the ending was anti-climatic and they didn’t address the rock’s origin or if the government closed the site. This film didn’t have shit on Akira or was even like Akira.

Gonna go watch it tonight with a bunch of dudes… no homo. Budget tuesdays baby! $6.

What this thread has taught me “Why the fuck haven’t I read the Akira manga?”

really solid movie.

Spoiler

why they always killing the black dude off first?

If you’re even questioning the origin of the rock, then you’ve already missed the point of the movie.

Really? I’m pretty sure there is no explanation of where that rock came from.
