I’ve mained Guile in MVC2 since I started playing the game just because I enjoy playing him. Every match is a challenge to overcome the advantages of the top four, and I still feel like I am learning new things each time. I’ve been playing for a few years now, and every now and then, some random normal beats out some usually safe rushdown tactic at the right spacing, and I feel like I’ve leveled up.
My character devotion is both a good thing and a bad thing, because as much as I want to spend time mastering a character and being a force in any matchup, I need to learn multiple characters and see which ones best suit my play style.
I’ve been maining Claw in SF4, and I’m talking playing claw 99% of the time. I’ve just recently started playing other characters, and I am really liking some of them a lot more.
I pick what I like in esthetical and idiosyncracic terms and then I try to master it. In other words, I don’t choose pragmatically. If that would be the case, I’d be using Ken as my main, despite my ostensible hate to shotos.
My mains:
SFIII: Q (absolute fave), Hugo
SF Alpha: Rose, Rolento
GGXX: Slayer, Baiken, Faust
LB2: Hibiki
Garou: Hotaru, Jenet, Tizoc
I pick what character I think will I have to put minimal hard work(learning extaneous combos and such). I can learn a char pretty fast, so a character that is simmple to use is best for me.
i disagree recently i just figured out when i play to have fun i win and its totally diff i really dont care if i win/lose anymore just to have fun untill SFIV comes out then its all play to win in my eyes
I just started playing fighting games this year (SF 3rd Strike) and the characters I play the most are either Sean or Ken. I pick Sean because everyone told me he sucks ass, and I always loved being the underdog, also its an even better feeling when you pulled that win out your ass. ken, is because he used to beat the shit outta my cousin in SF2, (I was busy trying to find my G.I. Joe) . With Ken, he’s the perfect mix of style, and power. He is like the Bastard child of Akuma and Ryu. Slower then Akuma, faster the Ryu, good hit power to be in between Akuma and Ryu. IMO Sean and Ken are my characters.
When I get the game I alway play all of the characters in a few rounds, I put which ones I like best the most and choose my favorite out of the group. I could careless about tiers, I put some consideration in them but I would rather just judge by what character I play the best with.
For example, in Third Strike Sean is one of my secondary.
depending on which type of sf cause theyre all played diferently and whatever copes with my strategy
cvs2 - guile cause of the follow up sonic boom and his crossover
sf3 - urien cause unblockables
sfa3 - xism ryu , dizzy combo to special…
one thing i learned though is playing unpopular characters cause the average person wouldnt know what to expect hehehee…:badboy:
