Ok i get there by the redline to howard then you take the 290 pace bus and the street you get off at is ridge wen you go up a hill thats the stop you get off at. =)

oh, pace, eww…that doesn’t run late or on weekends most likely.

how far is it from the howard red line?

hello I am the owner/operator of Gigawatts. An avid 3s player and have been a lurker here on shoryuken for a while. Whith the advent of this thread now the chicago players have there own persoanal Game Center owner that they can pepper with requests and suggestions. If anybody has any questions you can direct them towards me, or if I am somehow not availible I guess zatachi who is quite knowledgable.

P.S. As is custom at Gigawatts on fridays the day’s champion of the rotation (the person who essentially stays on the control/stick for an entire rotation and also defends there title against all challengers), must be referred to by there peers as the lord of street fighter

The man is right, Chi-town Fighting Community for the most part = SERIOUS BUSINESS…and hourly fees, possible lag on tvs, no discounts for those helping supply equipment for the gatherings (which I was going to try to do with CAD, but it got cut short before I could say anything about it) are going to deter peeps from comin’ out for this kind of thing when they can stay home or go to someone elses place.

As the guy who tried his best to run and promote CAD’s fight nights (note: I was not the owner of the place…it was just something I did there), I can tell you firsthand that you’re going to have to do a lot of convincing the Chi-town peeps to come out…sure, you’ll get the “lets see whats up” one shots…but if your showing isn’t a good one, don’t expect the come backs.

Even if you decide to make it free, and MAYBE close later than 11…you gotta make sure that shit is set in stone…a lot of us have to travel for a good amount of time to congregate anywhere to compete with each other (this place here is a little over an hours drive for me…so…yeah) so the Chi-town peeps wanna be sure it’s worth the trip.

lastly…PLEASE be open to suggestions…

Well its not too far. It is a walk though. when you get off the red line take the bus path to rogers ave. and keep walking west. you will come up on touhy and ridge. gigawatts is right across the street from a bar.

still a bit confused by this. does that mean we can just play for free, with food and drinks being optional? or do we have to purchase the food/drinks deal to be able to play? 20 dollas is a bit steep for 1 night of gaming, expecially when I think I would spend about 8 bucks at the most at cad for an evening (admission and 5 in food). I’m sure people would have no problem with a 3-5 dollar entry fee if they got to play all night without having to purchase food or the like for 20 bucks. Just an idea…this was pretty much the way CAD was set up.

I <3 steak & shake.

I’m pretty sure i’m going to pass this weekend.

Unless the lag issue with the tv’s is addressed, I wont be compelled to come out.

Ok its free to play period on weeklys but if you wanna have a all nighter like a “lock in” its 20 bucks I will see if i can work with him on the price since i kno we wont be there all night.

I said this already now he is bring TWO CRT’s we also have a projection screen I don’t kno if that lags either, can someone answer it for me?

yes we are open for suggestions the Owner of the place wants yall to come he is a reasonable guy, U can talk to him

I am a reasonable guy, and I play these games too so it is higher in priority than say maybe my halo players are:) to remedy the problem of lag im adding 2 crt tvs yhey will be here this coming friday. I’ve tried out third strike on the projecter and it feels fine, but I dont try to beat moves frame for frame. so I may not be the expert. I will probably be setting up a fight night next friday the 16 from maybe 10 or 11 till around 3 or 4, it will probably range in price from 10-15 dollars and include pizza and drinks and probably a small tournament. I will also probably have a third crt by then. What I need from you all is feedback, so I can consolidate the plan for the fight night by this coming weekend, what we’re trying to create is a consistent community both online and off.

What if people just want to play games and don’t necesarily want food/drinks?

Then you pay 10-15 bucks and don’t eat, its looking like.

we might be able to work something out I just want to see everyone’s feedback. Its difficult for the no food but play option. Because it is my experience the invariably the people who say they wont eat will try to sneak food making it unfair for the others. However maybe this time I may keep the pizza in the back and serve people. All options are on the table I want to create the perfect enviornment for this so just tell me what you think thanks for the feedback so far!

food and drink should NOT be tied to admission fees.

If you’re serving food and drink, and your stuff is good, then they will pay the extra money for WHAT THEY WANT TO EAT. If you want to have an admission fee so you can stay open later, cool…but make it a reasonable price. The way I did it with CAD, was just took a dollar off of Cliffs (the owner of CAD) fee for an hour of internet time, so $3 to play infinitely. Everyone was cool with that, and if they wanted to get food (because CAD only had like…bowls of noodles), then they made their own decision to go out and get what they wanted to eat, and when they came back, they were still covered to play because they already put in their money for the night.

I had an Idea I wanted to try with CAD, like I said…and that was that those willing to bring stuff (like extra televisions and consoles) to your establishment to help out with the weekly, they should be entitled to a discount for easing your troubles, and providing more options for the players that came out.

In the end, it’s all about options, and those options should be presented with CLARITY.

Now…in the case of steady good competition (which DOES factor in to your clientele and whether or not they will come back often enough to help establish your place as a hotspot)…well…thats another story altogether…

Ya like my dude said he is open for ideas. You are making sense i agree just make an entree fee and that will be it. ya i think the price will be around 3-4 bucks to stay later, i will call him and discuss it with him more and actully set this shit in stone…

I’m usually up there every friday playing 3rd Strike & Accent Core. I’ve been going up there for the past month & a half & there’s usually a decent amount of challenge up there. It’s usually free to play if you bring your own games. However I strongly reccommend that you bring your own controls. A couple of the PS2 controls are a little wonky.

^wow, first post since 12/2/04

10-15 bucks is pretty reasonable, the lockins i went to in milwaukee were 10 dollars but then we ended up eating anyway, pizza is nice
