I mean, LCD’s lag…
lol
oh and 11pm too early
Yeah, this won’t work if you guys are running consoles on hi-def sets. They all lag. Even with upscan converters. People don’t even play fighting games on laptops, because the LCD screens themselves lag by a few milliseconds, too. CRT’s, or bust. Not anyone’s fault, though. Today’s consoles run on HD sets, and 2D fighting games created for non-HD sets are old and behind the times.
Ya wats good man ya there is gonna be a tournament for accel my peoples from NY is commin ANBU.
Look in the tournament thread.
ya if the numbers go well we can stay later the boss dosnt seem to strict about that especially if it does get big e-nuff cover charge will have a sorta lock in
if you want someone can bring tvs i mean no big deal
We all love to have a perfect speed of the game(s), but its what that place has, and its better than nothing. Bringing tvs is a good idea.
This place is small and I’m hoping that there will be a good turnout in the upcoming weeks/months and then maybe we can talk to the owner to keep that place open past 11. Sometimes Gigawatts throws all nighters up to 8am. So its not entirely impossiblle to try and reach a goal of keeping that place open till later.
I have a dream that one day Chicago can have a big well known tourney. For example it can become home to evo north or become something bigger. But it all starts with effort, time and money (something I seriously lack).
around wut time do people usually get there?
looks like the Fight Night torch just got passed. It’s a bit of a long drive for me…but not too bad…I wouldn’t mind going.
well we show up around 7-8 but, there will be other players there as well.
Umm we just had evo north, and MWC has been around for ages?
pardon him he is getting to annsy he jus wants to play people as well as i he is hoping we can build a community…
i think he’s talking about having it in the actual city rather than the suburbs is all
Your right Syxx. Its just easier to get around for me cuz I don’t have access to a car and their are trains and buses.
A friend was telling me about this place a few weeks back. His name is Deron he hangs out at UIC and plays ddr. Anywho I’m down for this who else is going to go.
[Mario Gomez
well besides the people who said they were commin, hopefully alot more.
Not really. I highly doubt anyone will travel to play on lag. Not trying to kill the interest, but playing at 100% normal speed is a must for any competitive fighting game/player.
Having to lug around tv’s, then drive to a place, then pay to play isn’t gonna sit well with a lot of people when they can just as easily sit at home and have gatherings.
“Better then nothing” will not get you people to come out and play.
cracka you right about that shit well lets just see the turn out. I’ll try to save up money for a tv but reality is that i have a shitty job right (am looking for a new one) now and money is hard to come by for me cuz of school. The winter quarter is gonna start soon and I gotta pay for my books.
Finally, someone agrees with me! This lag issue cannot be stressed enough. It doesn’t affect the actual speed of the game, however it puts a delay between the inputs and the actual display of inputs. This means dropped (or blind) combos, attacks not blocked when they should have been, etc. No one’s going to travel and pay money to play games in those kind of conditions.
However, this problem can be easily remedied by playing games on consoles that output at the native resolution of the tv’s there. Such games include Dead or Alive 4 for 360, Tekken 5 DR, and VF5 for PS3. :3
Kobayashi is always down for MM’s in any DoA. RealTalk?
these are weeklys there will be no fee unless the crowds jump up a number
But i doubt that you can really count a milasecond jus come out and play people, i will talk to him today and find out wats really up ok Cracka?
Chicago has dedicated players in their respective niche fighting games in which they study frame data, and apply frame data knowledge in their play. This is a very good reason why Chicago is very good in a lot of fighting games.
Meaning, some stuff have just-frame (1-frame) timing to pull off. A “milisecond” worth of lag matters a LOT if you’re doing just-frame moves. So really, LCD screens are a huge no-no for a lot of players here.
I might want to check this place out and give it a chance, just like I did CAD. However, I also saw Gigawatt’s MySpace page and it says that the place will charge with a rate of $3 per hour? Or a discounted rate of $5 per 2 hours?
Not that I’m a cheapass or anything (and I really do want to support the scene), but that’s also going to be “yuck” to a lot of other players, considering some of us already play at centralized locations, for free.
do they sell burritos?
