Nowhere in my post did I say that, but rather, having an IRC window open at work would be a serious no-no, also I doubt I’d get work done if I’m constantly chatting. I just find it more convenient to refresh every half hour or so to read some posts as a short break from work. That’s just me.

but I think you guys are getting upset cause jerry pointed out just how bad it’s gotten. I mean there’s really no other excuse for it other then personal boredom or whatever. and like jerry pointed out somewhere in the range of 30% of the posts that happen here could really be taken up via aim conversations or whatever.

can someone post a noob guide on how to setup/access the irc channel. I’ve never used that shit so any basic info on what I need, how to get it set up, whatever would be appreciated. I’m also in the “won’t be able to use this at work” club, but mainly only because I work on shitty macs. let me know.
Once you download mIRC and install it, connect to the EFnet network. After connected enter:
/join #srkchicago
There’s a lot more to mIRC than this, but this is all you should need.
Other instant messaging programs also have IRC capabilities like Trillian, xChat, etc. mIRC is the one I use.
I’ll be on the Vent server too, if you need any more help.

For a web based IRC program, use www.mibbit.com. It’s REALLY easy and you dont have to download anything.
I find it kinda funny that ppl are complaining about spamming. It was encouraged in the beginning of the month when there was a limit. The title of thread was aug. the first half. Then everyone was like come one we have to stay on pace to reach 1000 before the 15th. But it is natural that there is more activity now. 1.) there was major release this year. 2.) technology you don’t need just a cpu anymore. Ppl can use their phone or console. But with that all said

if we say we are going to gw one night, most of us will stay until close which is either midnight or 2am. so depending how late you get off, just show up on the days we say that people are going and youll have some comp.
