its really not…if you want to see how these threads used to be go look at the OOOOLD ones before 2008 atleast and see that it was all productive…it was talking about gatherings and comments on gatherings/tournaments that happened…not about shoes or food or any of that stuff…that is all stuff you guys should be able to keep to im’s or pm’s or something else but these chicago threads have really deteriorated into such shit now…the fact that i had to get rid of the post limit alone BECAUSE of this thread should tell you guys something…these threads are so filled with useless shit now and random 1 liners that really have no place or need that it really ruins the thread…along with the fact that if anyone knew comes in and does try to look at the scene and try to find any info about it they wont because everything of importance is lost between the clutter of everything i already talked about…its just no good

you know what might be a good idea? a chicago IRC channel, so all the spam and so on could be contained.
i think its fine to post some stuff every so often, but we have had pages over pages of going back and forth over things that arent relevant to anything.
posts get lost like … i originally posted asking jim or ari if they wanted to play yesterday afternoon when i could bring my stick to work and leave it in my car. i highly doubt they saw it, and after work i was just tired. people shouldnt have to post something more than once for it to be seen.

We need a local SRK facebook group or something. IRC is not the same as what this is, but a FB group would be perfect and much better organized.
IRC can’t be checked from your phone, have to be there to see everything when its typed, etc etc.

and for the shit that you guys sometimes post…it definitly is what we need…people will idle in there a lot and its easier to just msg someone on there then cluttering up this thread with a 1 liner directed at one person…and i think this will be a good way for everyone to get to know eachother better because right now a lot of us dont know a lot of the other ppl posting in this thread…i think this will just be a good thing all around so ppl come on and show support
while I agree with you floe. It’s this thread that keeps me sane at work. I get a chuckle from reading random posts. IRC is a no go at work.
There’s always pros and cons to both sides of the picture. I’ll keep in mind to tone down the extraneous jibber jabber though

fLoE, funny enough (or maybe not), I actually took Cracka J’s thread as, ok, that’s the official thread for gathering, and we can continue chit-chatting on this thread. I guess it somehow backfired at least for me, coz I definitely did not get that hint from Jim’s thread. But for a group of this size, it’s better to be explicit if anything.
