don’t know why it just is, I can’t explain it, it is just how I feel.
on a regular pad it’s not too bad depending on the game (read, no one should ever even SEE the button config screen for Tekken, however sidestepping and throws for Project Justice are fine for hotkeys…although I think thats due to the akwardness of the controller)
On a stick, however, there should be no fucking use for hotkeys whatsoever considering that playing on a stick makes everything easy access for your hand.
Here’s a funny story for you…so last week, my girlfriend and I are at my friend/co-worker Matt’s place…it was a couples night kind of thing (Matt + K.D., Kris + EJ, myself + Alyx) and we were all playing Soul Calibur 4 *(XBOX360). *We didn’t have any sticks (I’m the only one there that really plays fighters and my own stick doesn’t leave my house until I get a second…) so we were using pads. I’m fighting against EJ and she couldn’t figure out how to throw…so I told her you’d do it the same way as you would in Dead or Alive *(she loves the hell out of that game). Then she asks me what the button for throw was…and I was like “why would you hotkey that?” and then told her you press G + A or G + B, just like you would in DoA with F + P being the combo to throw. She didn’t know what I was talking about because she spent all this time thinking throw was just a button and nothing more. It’s important to know the commands. Plus, they were all giving me shit for changing my button layout whenver I played…but whatever.
*my Soul Calibur Layout on pad is:
G = LT
K = A
A = X
B = Y
Every other button is on no-use and I hold the pad Tekken-Style.
Hmmm gw or football and pizza?
Seems like no one is going tonight, plus I got no id.
I’m heading over there in like 10 minutes.
We live about 15-30 minutes away, depending on traffic.
I had one today. Didn’t find anything wrong w/ it. Still too good!

Yep, having played in both styles many times and voicing my opinion means that i totally think whatever the Japanese do is superior. Obviously.
While gimmicks tend to work well in Single Elim 1 match, on the opposite front, the better characters seem to dominate brackets in 2/3 double elim. Its hard for a character to win 1 match if its like, really good claw vs really good sagat, but the changes of that claw getting the 2nd match is so improbable that it was decided from the start.
I play mostly mid tier characters in FGs, so when i have to play against a broke tier character, the prospect of having to win only one match to advance is a lot more appealing than having to wn 2/3.
So Makoto Mike got 4th at one tourney, but who got top 3? I’m pretty sure the top players still won. One guy getting 4th is not “case in points” for single elim being “random”. Then why did the top 3 players all happen to be? Nuki, Tokido, Valle? Those guys getting top 3 is “random”? Seriously? That’s hardly “case in point” and if anything, shows that top players still win.
And while you may be the better player overall, if you can’t adapt to your opponents gimmicks, then whose fault is it? I’ve been gimmicked out and it sucks, but when I beat a top player using a broke character, it’s awesome. I probably wouldn’t have been able to beat a lot of those players 2/3, so those wins more than make up for the very few times I get gimmicked out, because I almost always beat players worse than me. It’s more like, players who are my level with broke characters have a way better chance of getting taken down.
I have reasons for liking what I like, there’s no reason to talk condescendingly to me like that. I also stated the time issue.
And there’s ways to extend 1 game single elim, yet still keep it short.
For example, 16 people.
make 4 pools of 4 people each. Each player does 1 match, and top 2 players are recorded. The 4 1st placers get seeded and the 2nd place players all play against them, and then do an 8 man single elim tourney. Regardless, you get at least 3 matches, even if you lose all of them, and if you win, you get more. Its not as quick as 16 man single elim, but doesnt take all day either.
If you want, you can even take the 2 bottom placers and make another 8 man bracket for those players too. It’s still really quick, and everyone gets their moneys worth. Yes, some players like the many games tourney, and there’s nothing wrong with that. But there’s no reason to get pissy because people have a diff opinion from you.
So, how’d GW go tonight? I was thinking of actually going next week, since I have the day off…
I need to qualify this a little, in case people are getting the wrong idea. fLoE is not eligible for my offer. I’m sure you guys can figure out why. Haha. But I guess no takers hah.
ill team up with u man. our team name could be “AND THIS IS WHY USA PLAYS DOUBLE ELIM”
The madden curse lives on!!!
Best GW night ever? I think the Chairs and tables had a lot to do with it, but it was definitely a quality night.
anyone up on PSN?
good shit at Gameworks tonight indeed…
Tekken 6 card Reserve list
ExarchEzikiel = 1 card

did they move t6 yet? ill enjoy gw a lot more once they do that
I guess by stating my opining makes me pissy.
Whatever, I dont really care anymore.
Ugh I am tired. French homework takes up sooo much time.
As does SF4. Hehehe
Tekken 6 is upstairs now with nothing around it by the pooltables. Its kinda nice.
And tonight was the best GW night yet for me. Maybe it was Lee-K’s phone.
Add me. Lee-K
