Daigo/Nuki, Mago/Nemo, etc. weren’t banned at SBO (granted this is just a local with completely different motives) yet both teams still failed to win. One game shows inconsistent results for the chicago SFIV scene minus floey aka top 8 in US per results, but #1 in my heart. I don’t think you should restrict teams. An alternative is drawing teams from a hat (would be for this if entry was way lower).
P.S. you forgot a lot of other good chicago players, and restricting players (or leaving them off) would bring up arguments- Dfly/humbag for example would be a tough team if those werent restricted.

I think this event will be fun I am trying to get two people that are non Srk to sign up. On a different yet related note.
I love the negativity that certain members of the forum bring to events / gatherings that are trying to grow and introduce people to the local scene. They shoot down ideas from their high horses without even giving constructive feedback. Yes some people do give good points and I respect that input because they are trying to help. There are certain members who just shoot down ideas I swear because it isn’t their event or they just like hiding behind the monitor being e-thugs. Events like ones coming up I think are great ideas that with some constructive feedback could be awesome. With that being said I can’t wait to play and chat with everyone at gw on thursday.
i dont care about seeding. i am just happy there is going to be a tournament at gw. its going to be a lot of fun no matter who teams up. i mean there’s going to be tables for randoms to watch and the matches are going to be put on a lcd above the cabs! thats the shit!
my guess is the putting the machines on freeplay and labor to connect the big screen for spectating. They are a business and do need to make some money. But that’s just my guess
Take for example ANY team vs Ari’s team. The ANY team just paid $20 to go 0-2 vs Ari. While yes it is on freeplay, ANY team who loses in 1st round will have to wait an hour or two or however long it takes to finish the tournament before they can play and that’s just assuming they’re first on the page-long list of casual play order after the tournament. How is this fee encouraging more participants?
I audit businesses for a living and see profits/expenses all day. Labor to connect a monitor to an external monitor that takes an hour at most for one employee??? (who makes $10 bucks/hr or whatever which is covered by ONE team entering) Sounds like GW is raping the scene to me or just hooking some suckafishes.

Well while I agree it’s really no different than fio 3 where you basically the same fee and had to pay extra for sf4 teams. And we all know how smoothly singles went that night being single elim one game 3/5 rounds
Hopefully Marcus can pull through and talk em down a little on venue fee, I have a strong feeling they are locked in this fee.

Single player tourney got borked due to technical problems and had to be changed to single elim, and I was tryng to parallel price points not actual running of tournaments no offense to anyone I swear. I don’t think 10 per person is too bad personally, granted I’m new :(. Compared to the other games I played that were a completely different genre fighting game entry and venue fees are such a huge bargin for the amount of entertainment I get even when knocked out very early.

LAST input i’ll put into this and i’m not even sure that date is open for me (lol?), but i’ll make future ones if i can’t make this. If the goal is to grow and promote the scene, make everything as cheap as possible (this goes in line with quick single elim tournies too) and randomize the teams. (I.E. ari’s first nickels $1 biweekly with 70+ entrants)
If the goal is more about winning $$$, keep the fees the same and no team restrictions, no seeds. (I.E. FiO, etc.)

I just remember the venue fee for a bootcamp tourney before cpl in 2003 or 2004. Single elim cs tourney the day before cpl was like 200 per 5 man team. Thank god I don’t do that shit anymore combined with travel and expenses for two weeks ugh bad memories.
