Check out this place if you’re hungry for a burger on the south side. There’s one at 95th and cicero, too.
Damn 20 dollars for a single elim tournament with no seeds? Doin it big in Chicago burbs.
Your font infuriates me.
Normally I prefer seeding. But the aim of this is to primarily expand to where people outside of our fighting game niche can find it appealing. Once the team numbers increase, there will have to be some form of seeding wihen there are odd numbers of teams. For now however, it’s casual player friendly until I get an idea of how many people would go.
Here’s Floe’s match against YEB

ggs floe. You make Chi-town proud.
Where @? I like playing cvs2
Interesting match. If Ari would have landed that last upper > ultra, the match would have been over. How come sagat dashed too far there?
I don’t wanna re-watch the match…but IIRC, it was 'cuz he hit the DP as AA, making Gen higher than usual.
Also, IMO…if you wanna attract casual players, lower entry to $5/player. New guys won’t wanna pay $10 to get their asses kicked and be done after the 1st rd. And on top of that, allow for a certain # of spots to sign up on site. Not everyone goes on SRK…
And/or, pair certain [better] players up w/ some of the newbies. It evens out the brackets the way seeding would have. And it also ensures some team isn’t retarded-ly stacked (i.e. Ari/GLB). Or, at the very least, prohibit any combination of Ari, GLB, Marcus, Marc, and Spriggan.
Hope that helps/My $.02.

The sad part is that the entry is 5$ a player, just the venue fee on top of that makes it 10. I doubt i’d be able to get a lower venue fee, but we’ll see.
The flier at GW will have a link to the signup page to bring them here. It’d be to much of a pain to keep track of two sign up locations, unless GW wants to have someone work on it.
Personally, I never liked tournaments with many restrictions. The only reason this one has them is because we’re dealing with a business that we haven’t known for a while. Given that, I felt like having the freedom to choose your own team was a better sell than the perk of not playing Ari first round.
Because of the handicap of that solo cabinet, I’m just trying to find some medium where most interested parties are satiated. That said, I’m glad for your input and am trying to figure out the best way to bring back bi-weeklies.
Bright side the machine will still be on freeplay after the event unless they are actually fast with the tech crew. Lots of casuals can be crammed in with event settngs
Didn’t take the venue fee into consideration, so I’ll give you that.
Still stand on the “restricting teams” part though. I mean, if you’re going w/ no seeding, I wouldn’t wanna be the team that ends up playing whatever combination of Ari/GLB/Marc/you/Spriggan…
