Sup guys! It’s Thursday again, and I plan on hosting casuals at my house tonight around 6 till whenever! Mainly play that mahvel but feel free to bring AE or anything else. Just looking for some good casuals and a good time! I live on the northside area, pretty close to Ignite. If your down, hit me up. I’m gathering people as we speak. I can provide soda/chips and a little bit of hookah. Not much flavor left unfortunately lol. Hit me up if you are interested!

UPDATE: So far I got 2 setups. If someone can bring another console (PS3 if possible), I got a pretty roomy basement for 3 setups.

I can bring a ps3 with ae and mvc3 and an asus EVO monitor if you don’t mind my girlfriend and I coming.

Actually, I’ll be myself this time. Since I’m 18 now. You knew I had to bring her the other times because I was only in my second year of high school when I met everyone.

GGA was a blast. GGs to all that I played. If anything we should enforce 2/3’s a little more. A lot of people stood to the side because although sometimes rotations happened, a lot of times stuff devolved into just free-for-all games. I think this kept some people from stepping in.

Then again, there’s no reason to be timid. Everyone in the scene is a great person, and there’s no reason to fall by the wayside.

Also, I heard a lot of talk of “Sorry, I suck” “I’m just going to get my ass beat” and what have you. While this may be the case if you are brand new with a game or see that the people you are about to play are better than you, stop thinking like that. Don’t sell yourself short, just think of yourself as a player that has room to learn, which should be a feeling that never goes away.

@Havik. You should be more open to new experiences and new people. Also you probably shouldn’t have “Sigh…Chicago needs to step its game up.**” if you plan on being a shut-in.

Were you guys playing kof13 on the arcade cabinet? Dan said he wasn’t coming so I didn’t think anyone would be playing since it was just me and him playing last time. Always up for getting some kof13 games in, wasn’t aware anyone else was playing it there.

Also, I’ve been to area xiii three times I think, I paid joe every time, kind of dumb to fare dodge at a place you’re hanging out at for a few hours. I do understand some people not carrying around cash though, but I don’t think its hard to stop at an ATM before heading out.

Thanks to all for coming last night! I saw a lot of GGs! We will have all of our systems updated for next time…(Mortal Kombat will have all the characters unlocked, and MvC3 will be patched etc.) I’m going this weekend to a convention (were showing Dark Presence) but I’m going to try to have our stream set up by next Wednesday. I’ll post as soon as it’s ready. Other good stuff on the way: we have more Asus monitors, and a swappable King of Fighters XIII control panel top (with the other button layout).
Also I’ve gotten a few people asking about joystick parts…we are happy to supply parts. We have big Sanwa & IL orders on the way right now. Just let me know what you need. We will be getting into making custom built sticks in the near future too.

I can bring my laptop to GGA next time. I have KOFXIII and SSFIVAE on it. Both run perfectly. I can also bring an HDMI cable to let me hook it up to one of their TVs, so that we can play on a bigger screen. I play this way at home with no lag problems.

Yea…most of our gatherings end up like this. You really just gotta shove ur way to the front and call out “can i get next?” I know when I was new…I’d sit there and wait for someone to put a stick in my lap, but that doesn’t really work out that well. If we keep getting that big a turnout, we might want to find a way to get everyone to play everyone. Stick people on set stations and rotate them after an hour or a round robin or something. I got plenty of games in last night…but i think I played 4 different people.

@Havic, Konkrete pretty much hit it on the money, I mean bringing your mom around is cool if thats how you roll, sounds like you are attached to mom. Its cool though no one would judge you for even bringing her bro or for having family around. If you enjoy her company and if she enjoys watching and stuff bring her along to GGA as well. But yeah that sig of your really bothers me, cause we are stepping our game up, how about you actually help step it up instead of dissing our scene?

@AuhsojSivart i would like to not use those big screens as much as possible, had a ton of people telling me that they are indeed lagging and not playable. Up to you guys though, would rather use the couches for actual setups that we intended to use and not for the big tvs though.

I heard it lags for MK (DFly would be the best one to ask about that though).
And we all know AE will definitely lag on anything that isn’t CRT/monitor quality.

also a valid point, but really up to his decision, though i have met a lot of cool people through gatherings, so i do think you will just be missing out on a lot of great opportunities to make friends and play games. also if from the outside the place looks weird, just don’t go in, or don’t stay. use your best judgement.

jokes not funny at all. drop the hostility. at first it wasn’t bad because it was just pointing out how his original comment wasnt constructive, but now its just flat out being a dick. privately message him if you want instead of publicly ridiculing him.

I wasn’t even joking I was being serious, I have met a ton of players that bring family(nothing wrong with being tight with family), there is no hostility, just saying to him “how about you help instead of dissing our scene” since his sig is obviously what I was pointing at. How about you stop being the forum police here and stop blowing things out of proportion? I do agree that Syxx is being an ass for no reason though, I would be the last person to judge anybody…
