konkrete, im liking that evil ryu you got…made blanka look like a joke, but dee jay wasnt too shabby against him. ggs
i thought i saw you play dhalsim at ufgt7…did you drop him in AE?
to everyone else, is there a thread or facebook event page that has a set schedule posted somewhere for gga this saturday? i dont wanna waste the trip if kofXIII is already gunna be over by the time i can get there
I can understand the whole “every hit counts” mentality more when you have to wait before playing again, and how that gets you hype for getting better, but having 10 people there on 1-2 setups seems like it’s a whole lot of boredom for the people who aren’t playing, imo. If I travel all the way out somewhere, I don’t want to wait, especially if it’s a local thing. Obviously at a big tourney there’s a whole lot less setups than players, but when I just play locally, I’d rather have a lot of setups and play a lot and make it worth the time spent.
I guess it’s just different perspectives. Either that, or my lack of patience just makes me go “oh crap, there’s a line, I guess I’ll go play something else”.
My arcade stick showed up… I’m officialy learning execution all over again (not like it was great before). It’s slow going but fun.
I intend to start coming out to level up and learn from you guys. Is there a “regular” schedule (IE: Mondays = XXX N. St @ 1900 - 2300, etc)? Or do things develop on the fly? I work in Chicago and live in Joliet (not rare I’m sure) and I need to know when to throw my stick in a bag and bring it with (along with some extra sleep deprivation).
Just keep tabs on this thread. Gatherings are pretty sporadic. AreaXIII is the only regular gathering every Tuesday. Nives and Bombchivo are working on securing Ignite Networks for a regular meetup spot in the city.
Go to AreaXIII this Friday night. Tournaments and lots of casuals.
@Kobayashi: Thanks. I’ll be sure to keep tabs on the forum. Tuesdays/Thursdays are bad but I’m willing to travel around the rest of the days. AREAXIII sounds cool… I’ll pack up my stick and head out after work on Friday.
I live in Joliet too, there’s a few other people I know in Bolingbrook that have fight nights every so often usually Saturday or Sunday nights. Other then that how do you like having to drive 25+ miles to events >.>?
Local fight nights would be cool. We should talk. As far as driving 25+ if that’s what I have to do to be part of the Chicago scene then that’s what I’ll do… Even though I’m new I’m interested in doing what I can to meet dedicated players.
