The Tournaments: Three will be held, in Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition, Marvel vs. Capcom 3, and Mortal Kombat 9.
The Setups: If you have a system, game disc, monitor, or cables and you can bring them to the event, please do. We want to make sure we have enough set-ups for both the tournament matches as well as casuals.
NEW! The Raffle: We are pleased to announce that we will be holding a raffle at some point during the tournament for people who bring setups to the event. Prizes on offer will include a MAS stick case with buttons, Galloping Ghost Arcade gear, and more. The only way to be entered into the raffle is to bring equipment or help with the running of the event (see volunteers below). You will earn one (1) raffle ticket for brining a monitor or for bringing a game system with at least one of the tournament games. People who run brackets successfully will also get at least one ticket. So again, please bring set-ups to GGA on Wednesday. And if you have anything you would like to donate to the raffle, please contact one of the tournament organizers.
The Systems: SSF4: AE and MvC3 will be held on both systems, but stream matches will be held only on XBox 360. Please be prepared to have to play matches on both systems, especially the 360 since it’s more common and will be preferred for those two games. If your controller only permits you to play on one system, please inform the tournament organizer when you sign up for the tournament. MK9 will be held almost entirely on PS3, including the stream, with the 360 only used in case of overflow and if both players agree to it.
The Price: Entry is $5 per tournament you enter plus a $5 venue fee. Venue fee should be paid to the front desk upon entering Galloping Ghost Arcade.
The Payout: All tournaments will pay 70/20/10 for top 3 finishers, plus a bonus $5 (for 16-31 entrants) or $10 (for 32 or more entrants) each to all top 4 finishers.
The Schedule:
3:30 pm - Venue doors open
6:30 pm - Sign-up starts for all tournaments
8:00 pm - SSF4 tournament begins
8:45 pm - MvC3 tournament begins
9:30 pm - MK9 tournament begins
Early Sign-up: If you do not think that you will be able to make it to the venue on time or you would just prefer to have your name entered early, please notify the tournament organizer ahead of time (see below) so you will be entered into the bracket.
The Volunteers: We will need volunteers to help out with the duties of collecting money, taking sign-ups, and running brackets. Please contact the tournament organizer (see below) if you are willing to volunteer. Take note that if you are entered into a tournament, you will not be permitted to run the bracket for that tournament unless there is another volunteer–possibly also entered into the same tournament–available to assist you.
The Rules: All tournaments are double elimination. Matches are best 2 out of 3 games format. After a game, the losing player may change his character(s). The winning player play may not change his character(s), though he may change his Ultra (in SSF4) or his assists (in MvC3). Grand finals will be best 3 out of 5 games. In Mortal Kombat, all DLC characters (Skarlett, Kenshi, Rain, and Freddy) are allowed. Kratos and all DLC costumes are banned. PS3 Dualshock Wireless controllers are permitted only with a connecting cord and with the understanding that they must remain off when they are not being used. If any irregularities or disputes occur, the players involved should attempt to resolve them among themselves. If they cannot, only then may it be referred to the tournament organizer.
The Stream: Stream will be provided by Good Games Live, www.ggslive.com.

Actually it should have it, the Wednesday events are called Windy City Showdown hence Windy City Showdown’s Tournament.
I come out of Evanston/Rogers Park every Wednesday. I’ve given konkrete and ill_cosby rides to GGA, since I try to make it up there every Wednesday.
Tomorrow isn’t looking good though, but any Wednesday after tomorrow I usually head out there about 4:30p to 5:00. I’d have no problem picking you up if you can put up 4 bucks for gas.
I’ll post if I’ll go tomorrow, but yeah about 90% of the time I head out to GGA every Wednesday, and I come from Evanston/Rogers Park so I can definitely pick you up.

I can give you a ride if you can get to the Davis purple line stop anytime earlier than 4. Let me know, since I’d like to get there early (since I’m running the thing).

Sup javier its Josh we played in the rockband room last week at ignite. It sounds like you guys had alot of fun this Monday… I am soooo tight that I couldnt make it. On Sunday I went to a friends birthday party and he had a Mexican fiesta I dug in and ate so much only to find out that the pico de gallo that they made had fish in it… and I am allergic to fish lol so I had to leave right away because my face started to swell up, tears were just running down my eyes, my nose started to run, and my throat tighten up and I couldnt breathe. So i took some medication and was sick up until Monday. Did you guys manage to play in the rockband room again? And I will definitely be there next week.
Also Nives I missed it. Are you starting to run tournies/ranbats at ignite now? If so how often?
And hey tactics how are you? We met at GGA last Wednesday, and it was my first time being there. I was also one of the last people to leave and we talked a bit before I left. Im gonna try my best to make it today. A couple of days ago I randomly looked at my drivers licence and it said that it expired 6 months ago lol, and I didnt know so after I get it renewed im gonna see if I can make it out today… This has just been a terrible week for me lol.
So let me guess you cant get near freddy? I heard he has amazing keep away and great close up options as well. Its definitely your call on that one though Max, I wish I did end up working at NRS id make sure these problems would never happen(broken characters).
Based on what Hiro and Dizzy have told me, he has random invincibility frames/hitbox glitches where things just seem to pass through him. So yeah…

Anyways, I’ll be at GGA tomorrow night! If anyone wants to discuss anything about CH3, I’ll be there! My TV is already there, and if I feel like it, i may bring my 360 + MvC3.
Otherwise, I hope to see everyone this weekend at CH3! My car is already booked, so unfortunately, I can’t give rides, as much as I would love to be able to give everyone a ride (especially the people who live near me). I hope everyone can figure out a way to come, though!
Not much to sweat Rob, it always happens when the same guys keep trying to bring their negativity here for no reason. They need something better with their lives to keep them busy so they don’t have to go try and bother others. Just disregard that and lets MOVE ON!!! Feels pretty lousy though I just referred like 4 new guys to this thread…and I can only see their expressions after reading the last few pages…hopefully it doesn’t turn them off cause we have a very cool and nice scene here.
