Hey everyone, new guy here. Tactics I sent you an email earlier this week but never got a reply so I registered an account to post here.
I’ll be showing up today around 4 and I’ll bring some beer and some stuff to grill. I already read the post about no hot dogs so I’ll stop by the store and find something else.
Anyway I live in Bensenville (right next to O’Hare) so the drive to your place is like 15-20 minutes. I have a TE stick and copies of games I can bring. I have both PS3 and 360 but don’t have all games for both systems so I’ll bring what I have.
My goal today is to meet new people and hopefully start learning to get better. I played Marvel against a friend online yesterday and we are both so terrible it’s embarrassing. I’d really like some of the better players to give me some things to work on and critique my team and suggest other characters or teams to try out. I’ve been playing fighting games a long time but I’ve never had good competition so I’ve never been very good. I’m better than everyone else I know IRL (which isn’t saying much) and I really want to level up and get better. Hopefully you guys can help.

im kickin myself for not comin today, but i really didnt have the gas money after driving all other the burbs yesterday on a job hunt mission. if anyone else is stuck at home, hit me up on the psn. unless some plans fall into my lap, i should be on for the rest of the night.
EDIT: shout outs to everyone i see online right now playing their free game they got with the welcome back pack from the PSN. then huge shout outs to PSN for not letting me download my free games cause i clicked “Add to Cart” instead of “Download Now”. go to my cart…theyre not there…go back to the welcome back pack…i cant look at the games anymore cause it thinks i downloaded them. thanks playstation.

Just wanted to thank everyone for a good time. I had to leave at 10 but I really didn’t want to. That was seriously a blast. Thanks to Tactics for hosting and to all the people that gave me some tips and helped me out a little. I’m not sure if I leveled up but I definitely gained some XP and I’m looking forward to the next fight night.

What an amazing night, I was WAY wasted lol. Was great seeing everyone here, definitely was so much amazing food and gaming. I think it got close to 30 heads here, also had like 40+ pounds of meat here…

It’s DLC, so it’ll likely be sometime in the afternoon or whenever microsoft typically updates the store. PS3 honestly probably won’t get it for about 2 weeks because unless they changed their plans, they were going to retroactively add missed stuff to the store biweekly for each week that was missed instead of just one giant update.

Capcom has said there won’t be a PSN delay but that was 3 weeks ago so who knows.
I know this probably belongs in the tech talk forum, but i figured I’d ask you guys anyway. Is the Asus VH236H monitor still the best lag free monitor to buy on a budget? Can I just plug in a ps3 via HDMI and play lag free HD? I just wanted to be sure before I order one.
Just make sure you understand that no LCD display is going to provide true lag free. Also, since you are using HDMI (and that’s digital), you will definitely notice something. Whether it affects your play or not differs person by person, so I can’t help you there.
Edit: Additionally, I don’t think SSF4 comes as 1080p (someone confirm that it’s 720p please, just so I’m not spewing bullshit), so if you get 1080p, there would be additional processing = more delay.
^yeah, on the back of the box it says 720
