R.I.P Chester. Loved Linkin Park as a kid, still dig a lot of their stuff as an adult.
He tried so hard and got so far, but in the end it didn’t even matter. Every day took him one step closer to the edge. He became so numb.
Today is Chris Cornell’s birthday. What a tragic coincidence.

RIP to a good singer, a fellow Gundam fan and the guy who made the band which helped us describe whiney bitches as sitting in the corner cutting to Linken Park for years.
Still remember seeing that music video Linken Park did with the mecha all those years ago, can’t remember what the song was but went out and bought Hybrid Theory on MSN’s music store the next day.
btw. I don’t think we need to get people paranoid watching over their backs about getting banned for the standard celebrity death jokes though, shit’s practically a tradition for as long as I can remember posting here.
Damn. Linkin Park was a huge part of my childhood… and that Jay-z mashup album!!! Fire. I don’t even know what to categorize their sound but I loved it.

Very unfortunate to hear. Say what you will about Linkin Park and their music but as was mentioned, they pretty much became icons in a genre of music that most people didn’t really know what to label. Whatever it was that you labeled it as, you REMEMBER where you were when you listened to their songs. Call it screamo, angst music, goth, whatever. People knew their songs when they came on. Hell, their songs actually CAME on the radio air on popular stations. People know the words to their songs. They had song collaborations with Jay Z. Linkin Park is/was great.
Was never a linkin Park fan and probably never will be but I’ve lost a lot of friends and idols to suicide. Shit isn’t fun and people who joke about it are fuck faces.
I’m not super into the band,but I did like some of their songs.
“What I’ve done” and "New divide"were highlights of the first 2 Transformers live action soundtracks.

Reanimation was pretty legit. My December was such a gorgeous song; I loved Chester’s vocals in it.

honestly as depressed as i used to be when i was younger i never listened to their music because it was relatable, but because it sounded good and i still enjoy it even to this day. as much as i used to love Shinoda’s rap parts Chester’s later works without him sounded even better as he sang more often rather than just screaming. though even when he did scream it never made by ears bleed like all these shitty scremo “singers” today. God Chesters ability to hold that scream during Given Up blows me away everytime especially after being in choir, that shit is not easy.
I really can’t show any sympathy for a man who hangs himself and makes his wife and 6 kids live with it.
One of the first albums I listened to as a kid was Hybrid Theory. I haven’t listened to Linkin Park in years but it was definitely an influence on me listening to both rap and metal.and those first few Linkin Park albums saw me through some tough times when I was younger.
Are people getting banned for making puns about this guy but it was fine when everyone went ham on Otto when he was killed by the North Korean government?
This sucks, although I was never a big fan (liked the visuals in their music videos) I remember in my teenage years they were all the rage with my peers.
It’s a shame that the same mind capable of creating songs that resonate with so many people can also be so tortured. A double-edged sword.
