Chester Bennington (Lead singer of Linkin Park) dead

WTF…seriously?

What’s with these lead singer offing themselves?

Well damn. Didn’t see that one coming.

Guess those wounds really would not heal…

Too soon?

Wat? That sucks, it really does. : /
I wasn’t a fan of their recent releases but had all the albums when I was a teen.
Blargh.

meh :coffee:

Geez. This guy should have been in therapy if he wasn’t already, he may have had a lot more great things to give had he done that. But this whole thing where deciding to go to therapy being a sign of “weakness” needs to stop.

Creative people are usually already emotional by nature in a way so if you combine that with some medications, it isn’t pretty.

Given the lyrics he definitely was depressed; not in that “I’m sad” type of way but probably clinical depression. Insanely unfortunate situation.

All their songs were about shitty relationships and cutting

LP is a band that defined a generation of kids. I’m not really a fan in any way, shape or form but this is a huge blow to a lot of people. They were easily one of the most popular bands at the time FREE.

This isn’t some bullshit small band whose lead singer committed suicide, this is a band with a massive audience. I’m going to forewarn the rest of you numbnuts that give it the same amount of respect you did Cornell. Regardless of how you feel, there’s gonna be a lot of people hurting.

It doesnt matter how hard you tried…
(Only good Linkin Park song is a parody remix.)

I hope for those fans feeling down they don’t do anything extreme. But I know that is wishful thinking at best.
I seen too much dumb shit fans do for their idols, like the “I bleed for beeber” shit or worst.

It hard for me not to be apathetic for Chester Bennington, Linkin Park is often a band I mock.
At the same time I like to think I am not a complete scum bag and see people are actually in mourning and try to at least look like I am sympathetic.

dude had 6 kids… so depressing

Sucks.

Meteora was such a good album.

In the end it doesn’t really matter.

I dunno. I’ve been reading that Chris Cornell’s wasn’t suicide as much as it was autoerotic asphyxiation gone wrong, which makes me sad. But Chester apparently did have a lot of problems and the fact that he couldn’t seem to get the help he truly needed, if for no other reason than his kids’ sake, is a very sad thing no matter what people’s opinion of his band was.

Wonder how many bannings are gonna happen because of the RC clause. Even more so when you consider that depression is an incredibly common thing reported here.

Yeah, was big into LP when I was an angsty boi in the early 2000’s. I grew out of their music hard when I actually bothered to explore what was out there and found basically everything about the band to be lacking. Still, I can’t deny that the band had an impact on my life, and depression is a serious illness that often goes undiagnosed. My thoughts go out to his 6 kids, who will probably be hit hardest by this. Two 5-year olds, if I recall correctly. This won’t be easy for them.

I wake up to this shit…

And Living Things got me through the absolute worst of my life in what was my failed marriage. And this guy’s gone.

Fuck, you can’t even articulate how upset I am.

Finally broke, huh?
