Thanks for the compliments! Shoutouts to your friend as well! I’ll say that I do love how this one came out myself and the LED buttons he went with really helped into making it look even better.
Finally got around to doing the last bit of modding on my Exar Exaprize.
Changed the Seimitsu PS-15 button colors to yellow-rim black-plunger.
Changed the shaft- and dust-cover to have the same color scheme as the buttons.
Added a DPDT switch on the side for console selection on dual mods (although there’s still just one PCB in there at the moment).
Added 4 mounting holes at the top…
So that I can do this:
Here’s the back:
The mounting claws were a Switch-specific mount, but originally made to mount behind a headrest. The hinged arm was originally something with a suction cup to mount a cellphone to a car windshield. Cobbled the two together, and added a bunch of custom hand-made ABS connection parts. Didn’t have any 4-40 thumbscrews handy, so I basically made my own using countersunk 4-40 screws epoxied into some custom-cut ABS “pucks”.
The original idea was for this to be drill-less and have the mount held on by magnets, but those weren’t strong enough to securely hold everything up without collapsing at the slightest bump.
Inside.
I mainly just added the dual-mod switch, but it’s two 4-pin headers that go into that DPDT switch. No second PCB at the moment, but I’ve added an ABS panel on the lower-right for whenever that happens.
And if I had any games that supported it, I can rotate it into tate mode too!
Just waiting for a physical version of Ikaruga to be released!
Great work! What did you use to make the case cutout for the PCB select switch? Looking to do something similar w/ my EX2
P.S. Is that an LS-40? Why did you remove the secondary gate?
For the cutout, I just measured, drilled, and filed things down to size.
Yes, that’s an LS-40 in there. I removed the secondary gate mainly because the “open” portion of the secondary gate doesn’t actually do anything for the main white square gate. Plus it’s a cleaner look. I do this normally with all my LS-40s (3 other of my sticks have LS-40s).
Can you drop a regular JLF or LS-32 in there? I have one, I want to mod.
If you have the Sanwa edition, it comes with a JLF (albeit mounted at the wrong height).
Non-Sanwa editions need heavy work to get it mounted.
An LS-32 would take extensive case-cutting to get it to fit at the right height (see my LS-40 mod).
I believe they would mount it without the plate? Just like the you would for a T5 stick mod.
Possibly; I don’t normally mount any sticks without the mounting plate, so it’s something I always consider in my planning.
I’m not sure that it would give you very much “grip” considering you’d be mounting it on just a thin layer of plastic, though.
Some image shots of a HRAP VX-SA mod done by twitter user @capcomatmebro featuring a MLP themed graphic based around Rainbow Dash that I helped into making for him as a gift for his daughter.
So I wanted to post these for a while. I just got the HRAP2 in the mail today. PS4 VLX and HRAP 2 to go with my mirror HRAP. Roughly 300 for both. I think I am done collecting. Lmao.
I picked up the VLX from an OG SRK member and the HRAP from a seller in Japan.
ever thought of customizing the panel? I’m thinking of buying a VLX but I want to switch out the top panel and artwork… just no idea how I’d do it.
It should be the same as the other HRAP with carriage bolts. Im swapping the panel out for an astro city layout.
what?? so the VLX and the Kai are the same size?
edit: I can see that it’s not. Whachoo talking about?
The process to change it.
That sir is a sexy mod
They’re not the same size, I think Bartstation just typo’ed the name.
If you want to change the panel to a VLX, your best bet is Jasen’s Customs: https://jasenscustoms.com/collections/vlx
Top-quality everything from him.
