I’m not sure about one thing: does the only thing that Capcom is changing to avoid unblockables is delayed wakeup or is there something else, like adjusting the hitbox/hurtbox interactions?

Devs have not been super clear about how they are getting rid of unblockables…but I do remember them saying the unblockables were “removed.” Not sure how, but delayed getup really messes with a lot of setups, if people use the delayed getup.

the unblockables just end up being normal jumpins that are front, crossup, or fake crossup ala sfxt

I’m kinda worried about Guile now…

before i feel like this match up is 5-5 or a bit in Blanka’s favor, with USF4 out and Guile buffs and delayed wake up and no more unblockables all the stuff that Blanka have an edge against Guile is more or less nerfed.

Thankfully some of Blanka’s other match ups might be better from this new system… gotta check it out to see.

I’m also worried about facing Boxer without the unblockable, it’s gonna be pretty hard. That’s why I’m planning on learning Decapre.

I’ve been playing AE this past weeks, trying to get in shape for Ultra. But I’m so bad my win ratio went from 75 to around 60%

And god!, I hate how many characters have a great and annoying crouching jab in this game! It’s almost impossible to tick throw or frame trap an online Ryu doing cr.LP

I just wiggle and kara throw and end up throwing the jab/short

I think what I’m annoyed about blanka the most is his close range have nothing 3 frames while his best normals are all far range.

As for ryu or other c.lp it’s really about playing footsies to beat it

If anything I like blanka c.lp more and more now

Did you guys watched Texas Showdown?

There was a good amount of Blanka players on top 32: Flash House, Ferris (using Blanka against BrolyLegs, should have used him against Dudley as well) and Nytemare.

Ultra David even mentioned Veserius as a Blanka guru on the stream

It’s funny that even now, 5 years after SFIV was released, most players/commentators on the FGC know very little about our character

Was watching Xian academy and more recently daigo in Topanga world league.

As you may or may not know s.lk for ryu shrinks his lower body hurt box causing some low hitting moves to whiff when they should hit if standing.

Then today I watched how daigo basically annihilated fuudo fei even when fuudo put him in the corner simply by strinking his hurt box by constantly walking backwards.

Was wondering if blanka have any moves like ryus s.lk and if walking backwards in general shrink hurt box for all characters when in corner.

You can use Blanka far lk the same way, but it’s way less good than the shoto st.lk.

Generally, walking back in the corner does not shrink blankas hit box, as far as i can tell. Or at least, not enough for it to be really viable. It works great for bison, though, and other characters as well. Instead, blanka has to use his focus attack to really push his hurtbox further back, and if you release focus as soon as the first recka is absorbed, u can get a knockdown…assuming fei reckas.

with the -5 dp FADC being a staple in USF4, obviously U1 will have more uses than before. Making some of my match ups against shoto I might switch from using U2 to W or U1.

Was thinking if they cancel into backdash was wondering if HP ball will punish all characters all the time.

Actually thinking about it a bit more another option besides U1 might be upball (regular) RF xx U2 (air) since upball is also 4 frames.

I went ahead even further to do a rough idea what is the frame disadvantage for all the characters that’s effected by the -5 dp FADC when they dash back. Assuming they changed the block stun of the move so dashing back frame disadvantage is even worse than before…

The way i did this is looking at the difference between forward dash and back dash and adding the difference on top of the -5 (since back dash is slower than forward dash for all characters as far as I know)

Cammy: -7
Evil Ryu: -15
Fei Long: -14
Ken: -14
Oni: -14
Ryu: -14
Sagat: -16
Seth: -12

Based on the above analysis and assuming the block stun is changed and backdashing will be worse as well, then it’s safe to say everybody will get knocked down by HP Ball with exception to Cammy who will probably block in time I will imagine since HP ball is 6 frames and i can’t imagine it will get to Cammy in time by the 7th frame. Adon might also be safe as well but hard to say i guess.

Sadly, playing online makes it hard to visually confirm if the opponent cancels the DP and even worse to confirm if they did a forward or back dash before you already commited to a punish.

U1 is obviously the best choice to punish a forward dash, but may not hit characters with back dashes that travels far. Maybe EX upball is the best punish all around, since it probably hits any forward or back dash and it knocks down, so you won’t get punished for hitting some chars. The downside would be so little damage at the cost of one meter.

What I had in mind after blocking dp is to buffer bfb if it’s back dash press hp for hp ball if forward press f+PPP for ultra… Don’t know if this will work since I haven’t practice this yesterday but I imagine it might.

I don’t think you can store charge for HP ball for so long. Ultra/Supers have a bigger charge buffer/window than specials

I’ll have to test for myself, but I’m guessing that on good (green) connections I might be able to wait and see what the opponent does and react properly

Also, getting a f.throw after a forward dash won’t be hard and is a good idea against a lot of characters because of the mixup you get afterwards

if you had 3 bars, hk upball rfc sounds pretty sweet against characters who wouldn’t be able to backdash the upball

I wonder if it’s possible to FADC an upball from that far (chasing a back dash)

I think it’d work on Sagat, not sure about shotos.

Anyway, RFC might probably benefit Blanka more than most of the cast since Blanka lacked good use of bars for damage, except with full Super stocked, of course.

In 2012 your only option with 3 bars was the crappy EX Ball xx FADC xx HP Elec, wich is a little hard to do with slidding and doesn’t do that much damage for 3 bars.

Now you can upball or MP/LP horiball xx RFC > Ultra 2 or even RFC > cr.MK > U1 with the new 2f window.

I can’t remember, did anybody tested if cr.MK > U1 still works on all the characteres even with the horrible pushback?

it worked on everyone I tried it on, but will probably whiff on CH on sagat/seth a lot
