try to hit each 10x in a row. If I mess up I have to start over.

I tried today for the first time online (unlike you guys I don’t spend much time in training mode) and it worked like a charm almost everytime.
Landing in front gave me best results since most of my adversaries I conditioned to block a crossup after a forward throw, so I was getting them with j.HP not crossing up.
After a while people start blocking holding back again and that’s when you start going for crossup or mixing them up with empty jump, etc.
By the way, I came across the number 1 Adon on PSN and he’s brazilian. Lost both rounds but I gave him some trouble, then I wanted a rematch but I couldn’t find him again.
I’ve used this setup for a long time (stole it from T SRAI), and something that you should definitely use if you think you can get the jump FP to connect on the front side is combo into cl. mp -> ultra 1. I’m surprised I don’t see this more often as it is a damn easy link, and cl. mp has more frame advantage and damage than cr. mk. I’m pretty sure that the setup to land in front though can be reversal uppercutted. You technically could make it a safe jump if you figured out the correct distance to walk (not doing the lp ball -> walk back) and perfected the timing, but that defeats the purpose of these setups to perfect timing.
You can make dp whiff and hit/land in front but it’s pretty difficult.
Yeah I stole the setup from T SRAI too.
I don’t trust my execution enough to do cl.MP while holding up + back then link into Ultra.
I have a hard time hitting that combo in Training room already.
Usually I avoid using ANY setup that can be easily countered with reversal DP, because I always play online (Ranked) and there’s no point in assuming that those people WON’T reversal DP every time

do you plink or double tap the cl.mp? It makes it way easier to get in.
I was trying to just hit cl.MP, without double tapping or plinking it.
But it’s been so long since the last time that I sat down to test the combo. I was amazed the first time I saw it, it was a vanilla video of Mizoteru vs Mago.

The argument people always use is that balls are punishable with super and ultra by balrog. I don’t think that matters too much. Blanka has too many ways to break armor, can cross over to break charge, and can stop everything balrog can do with electricity. His slide also goes under armor punches.”

“Balrog has better normals overall and can chip im with dash punch. Blanka in the neutral position can do nothing vs him. In the corner blanka has no way to escape at all.
Slide doesn’t go under armor punches it goes under dash punch. It loses to overhead and low swing. It probably loses to torpedo punch as well.
I play both balrog and blanka. Advantage balrog in a huge way.”

"He can’t chip with Dash punch. You just showed that electricity stops ALL dash punches. Not to mention if blanka gets the knockdown balrog has no options to stop the pressure. Hop cr.lk beats everything balrog can do on wakeup. And slide definitely goes under ex upper. Overhead beats it, but that’s it. Overhead is super risky in that matchup though considering how many ways blanka can break armor on reaction.’

I think we need a full review of how Blanka interact against Rog’s dash punches, which tools he has and how it hurts him, same about normals of both.
Had a local ranbat this weekend, team tourney kinda thing. Anyways I did pretty good and won in my matches vs chun, guile, boxer, seth and dictator. Finally lost to an Abel. I got hit a lot by wheel kick and this jump fierce in air-to-air argh. Is it me or that moves’ hitbox is pretty darn good?
Then had the runback vs Seth and got mauled 5-1, so yeah fuck that bastard.
I placed in my first tournament this weekend! Got third place. Granted we had a much lower turnout than usual this time around, but I’m still happy with my performance. Got a ton of mileage out of safe jump setups and Blanka bombs. My whiff LP Ball step back j.MK setup worked against characters with bad reversals, but it was getting DPed against the Ryu player who took second. Still not as consistent with as I’d like, or maybe I’m just not doing it correctly. Gonna have to fix that.
My biggest problem is ‘freezing’ when I fight someone better. I tend to lose focus when I get knock downed or eat a big combo. Its something I need to work on. I’m generally pretty good about teching throws/anti-air etc but when I’m losing I stop doing those things. Something else I have to work on.
j.hp is easier to do vs. dp type moves because it narrows blanka’s hurtbox.
I’ve completely forgotten cancel-hops. We have four of them…? I forget. The bit I do remember is getting murdered with minus frames. So… are they ever useful? I know you could probably get away with a few per round, but is it worth it? Nah…
Hop is like a special move, so you cancel a normal to a hop like any other special move (elec, balls etc…), with normals like standing lp, cr. mk etc…
Actually, it’s highly unsafe, i don’t remember the exact values but you can get punished by a lot of things like throws, jabs etc… but some players, even good players don’t punish that kind of stuff strangely if you use it sparingly.
Hero uses the hop cancels like crazy. I’m pretty impressed with how often he gets away with it.
