ps3 error, can’t connect to the ps network
I was playing Resistance 2 fine online for a while. Then, I went somewhere, and came back and now I’m getting this error 80710B23. I can surf the internet just fine on it, and when I test the network everything seems to pass but I just can’t log onto the network to play the game.
I’ve researched this problem online and apparently no one really has a solution to it besides lowering your MTU (which I tried, and didn’t work). It seems the only solution is to wait it out.
Has this happened to anybody else?? Is this what critics mean when they say that Xbox Live is better than PSN?

from what I understand, Xbl is a standard code that microsoft developed and manages. This means game developers do not have to develop their own net code for 360 titles. Psn is not the same. Ps3 game developers must create their own net code for online play every time they make a game. This means that the code could be different for every game. So as a player on 360, all game/functions/modes are either working or not… And you only have to troubleshoot one configuration. As a ps3 player, something not working in Resistance may not have anything to do with connecting, playstation store or Resident evil online play… Do you follow? Somethng in Resitance’s game-specific net code doesn’t like something about your configuration.
That’s why xbl is supposedly “better”. Because it’s standard across all 360 games. On ps3 each game has different code for psn. So finding the problem mega-complicated.
My suggestion is try other games online… if they are workng fine, then somethng might be wrong with the ports Resistance’s code needs. If other games do not work, then something is wrong with your general connection set up.

By the way, I learned all this the hard way. Becuase I could not quick match online in sf4. It was a porting issue with my service provider (not router) that ONLY affected sf4. I dumped those fools with a quickness. Now i’m reppin Comcast FTW

True, I played Saint’s Row 2 a few mins. just fine on PSN. Thanks for helping me narrow the problem down. Its not the router. Now, I just have to figure out what Resistance 2 doesn’t like about my configuration.
I could see why having a standard like XBL is definitely easier and better.
I mean, wow, you had to get rid of an ISP just because of a game not working!?! Seems like a really big move just to play a game online. A customer shouldn’t really have to do all this just to make it work, you know what I mean? Hopefully, PSN will create a standard soon to prevent things like this occurring.
Guess I’ll be playing MvC2 on XBL mostly when it comes out. I’m going to get me a stick for 360 too so I can do other things besides trap people all day.

Yea well that was the catalyst for the change but it wasn’t the only reason. DSL is mad slow anyways and belsouth had crazy porting issues that i felt i shouldn’t have to call tech support if I wanted to resolve.
When I was on xbl I had the same types of issues but I knew about it right away because it affected everything. If I had switched ISP back about a year ago then I would probably still be on xbl.
