Represent!

Alright guys, I just got off the phone with Critty and I’m excited to let y’all know:

THE RETURN OF THE DRAMA
THE RETURN OF THE HYPE
THE RETURN OF THE CHARLESTON RANBATS!!!

West Ashley Play N’ Trade is continuing to support the fighting game community by allowing us to run what will be either monthly or twice a month Ranking Battles at their store. Everything is still being worked out, but expect bigger and better RanBats for Street Fighter IV. If things turn out well, expect Tekken 6 to join in on the fun when it’s released.

As of right now, the only thing official is that these will be happening. Like I said, we’re still working everything out but as of right now, this is what we have on the table:

$10 entry fee
Prizes:
-Ranking Points dependent on placement
-70/20/10 split on store credit that is in direct correlation with the entrants (ie: 10 people = $100 store credit = $70 credit to 1st, $20 to 2nd, $10 to 3rd)

At the end of the SF4 series (which will either be in 4 or 6 months), the top 8 (or 16, still undecided) with the most points will be put into a play-off with the winner getting a prize. The prize is undecided, but expect it to be more than just store credit.

As far as the points system goes, we’re still trying to iron it out. Right now we could either do it the old way (12 people show, 12 to 1st, 11 to 2nd, 10 to 3rd, 9 to 4th, 7 to both 5th, etc). There’s also the option of giving either the top 4 (or top 8) a split on the points based off of entrants and the remaining people getting 1. Maybe something along the lines of 10pts per person with 65%, 15%, 10%, 5%, 2.5% of the points going to 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and both 5th places with the rest getting 1. That part is still up in the air.

Here are definite rules though:
PS3
BYOC
2/3 matches
3/5 winners/losers/grand finals
Double Elimination
Default (99) time
No button macros with the exception of 3P & 3K
Buttons must be set before a match starts, not during the start of the match
Winners keeps the same character, loser can change

Top 8 in points will be seeded at each RanBat. As of right now, we might use the results from the last tournament to seed the first RanBat.

Round count will either be 2/3 or 3/5. Undecided thus far.

April 18th looks like it might be the first day we do this and there will be a Call of Duty 4 tournament running at the same time. We’re currently speaking with the College of Charleston to host a tournament in their Game Room before finals come up. If that busts, it will be at the store in West Ashley.

I have PS3 and 360. I’m going to pick up SF4 for PS3 this weekend.

Daaamn Cammy was breaking the seal!! dude had to run to the restroom to get some wipes, LoL!

oh yea, get some Shigurui: Death Frenzy in your diets, the violence is epic!!!

Hey John-alism, where do you buy your quick disconnects for Sanwa buttons and Sanwa / Seimitsu sticks ?

I’m reading slagcoin here and they’re saying the 187? (3/16?) female quick disconnects fit the Sanwa buttons’, but it’s not preferred because they are usually a bit large for them. Let me know where you buy the wires too.

Damn…I miss the good old days of having the option of buying an external cheat device (Pro Action Replay, Game Genie, Gameshark, etc) for your system. It would be so awesome right now in RE5, if I could just have infinite bullets w/o having to beat the whole game first. So, I could just run around and kill everybody.

I wonder why one hasn’t come out yet for 360/PS3?! Couldn’t they just have it auto disable it during online play.

You need .110’s (22-18 AWG) and a crimp tool.

I usually order form Willy’s Electronics, you can get everything from them pretty cheap. They have a $10 order minimum tho. you can get the wire from them as well,
http://shop.willyselectronics.com/browse.cfm/2,1010.html
^^yes, you want 22awg-26awg or smaller. it’s easier to work with. Don’t bother going to radioshack they don’t carry shit. You could try Wholesale Industrial Electric downtown on East Bay street. Sometimes they have QD’s and Wire.

oh yeah look what I found…

it’s like 4am and my brain is cooking up all kinds of ideas for that shit

lol

Thanks brah. I will call that wholesale place today to see if they carry some QDs.

Everybody look at me because I’m sailing on a boat !!

John what is a stock on a stick?? That was what you asked me for in the text u sent me…

BTW I can game tonight from 9 til whenever… Call or text me if u r down…

Stock should be the original part from whatever you have. HRAP2’s stock parts are Hori buttons and JLF stick.

John, I tried that place you said and also some other ones and they don’t really have those QDs. Do you have enough to be able to sell 30 to me ? 18 for the buttons and 8 for the stick, and some spare just in case. Let me know.

FINALIZED RULES FOR THE RANBAT!

Entry: $10
Platform: PS3 & 360 for now. I’m looking towards picking up 360->PS3 converters and wired set-ups so that people can use their 360 controllers on PS3. Once that’s done, exclusively on PS3
Prizes: 70/20/10 store credit pot split. ie: 10 people show up, $100 in store credit to be divided (70 in store credit to 1st, 20 to 2nd, 10 to 3rd) + Ranking Points (see below for details)
Rules: Double elimination, 2/3 rounds, 99 seconds, 2/3 matches, 3/5 matches for winners/losers/grand finals, all characters are allowed, no button macros (3P & 3K are the only exceptions). button configurations must be set BEFORE characters are selected, winner keeps the same character while loser can change, pausing once results in forfeit of the round. The 2nd time forfeits the match. 3rd time forfeits the set. Blind character select is available

Point Distribution: For every person playing, that’s 10pts everyone will get. Ie: 10 people register, everybody gets 100 points. The placers will get bonus points. 1st place gets 100%, 2nd will get 70%, 3rd will get 50%, 4th gets 25%, and both 5th places get 10%. This means in a 10-man tournament, everyone gets 10 points while 1st place gets an additional 10 (20 total), 2nd will get additional 7 (17 total), and so on.

Extra Information:
*The RanBats for SF4 will be ran for the next 6 months. There will at least one per month, potentially 2.
*Points will be totaled after each RanBat and displayed with along with the results and brackets of the most recent RanBat
*Top 4 will be seeded. If there are more than 16 people, the top 8 will be seeded.
*At the end of the series, if there are less than 64 different people with points, the top 8 will be invited to a play-off tournament for a large prize that is to be determined at a later date. If we have more than 64 different individuals, then top 16 will be invited.
*If somebody that is invited to the final tournament cannot make it, the next person in line will take their spot and the spots will move up. This means if you’re 9th (or 17th), it might be in your best interest to show up in case somebody doesn’t make it.
*There will be no floating once a RanBat has reached the top 16

The first RanBat will be Saturday, April 18th. Tournament starts @ noon. There will also be a Call of Duty 4 tournament running at the same time. If you can bring an extra console, game, and/or controls, PLEASE let us know! Same goes for anybody that can bring any recording devices! We’d like to start uploading these matches to YouTube!

Is any of the rest of SC getting down on these RanBats?

Would be cool to see some representatives from Myrtle Beach and Upstate.

Where are these tourneys going to be held? My roommate and I down at CofC play every day, but we haven’t found anyone around campus that plays.

Play N Trade West Ashley I believe… BTW If I show up I will bring my camera to make some vids…

I am online now if anyone wants to play a couple matches of sf4o…

What do u guys think?

EDIT: Josh I don’t think there is such a thing as xbox 360 to ps3 converters. I know there is a ps2 to 360 converters.
