OMG So many people showed up to this tournament in Charleston that is was fun and exciting. I like to thank Josh, Clint, Seth, and John for helping me run the tournament. With out yall it would of been very hard and confusing. Shout outs to Cola and Buffenton for showing up to the tournament. Results will be post up tomorrow.!!!

Marvel has zoning and footsies dude, but it’s at a high speed and you have to account for the assists as well (which is where a lot of people get blown up. Early on in these games I’m terrible with calling/seeing assists because I’m still trying to figure out the point game). It also requires gimmicks but once you begin to understand the other characters you begin to see the gimmicks and how they’re set-up. Once you understand that and how to block them, it becomes easier. So it’s not so much as gimmicks as it is match ups.
Marvel takes a very different type of mindset, imo. Due to how easy it is to get mixed up on the ground, you’re better off jumping around (to avoid the high/low mix up) and calling assists (to avoid the left/right mix up) and waiting to combo off of them. Once they’re forced to block assists, that’s when you go in and force a mix-up. You still have to account for their assists at this point, and that’s when Marvel starts to become AWESOME 
ie: Dante/IronMan is jumping around on the screen vs. Hawkeye/Sentinel. Hawkeye has been chipping and keeping Dante out, but has now ended up in the corner. Dante gets close enough to make Hawkeye hesitate because they’re in range of Dante’s c.
& s., but he still calls Sentinel. Dante crouches to show c. but he’s really buffering teleport and calling Iron Man. Dante teleports into the corner behind Hawkeye/Sentinel, but the Hawkeye player expected the teleport and changed directions accordingly. He also knows that Sentinel is coming onto the screen and is prepared to push block to try and disrupt the combo on Sentinel that Dante is going to land. Dante instead air dashes out of the corner and Hammer Knuckles, Hawkeye & Sent eat Unibeam, get spiked, and Happy Birthday!
That’s a ton of reads all going on at once O_O
Low level Marvel you won’t see it as much though because people are going “lol dmgggg” and willing to mash out of anything and everything. Ultimately (no pun intended), those games will always come down to you running around on the screen until you can come in unabated, force them to block something, and delay the strings (or convert them into other rush patterns) in order to get them to push block late or jab into hits.

Who can I watch to pick up magneto? The verdict is still out on the other two characters but mag is staying for sure. Vergil is fun and easy to play with, but I’m not sure if I’m going to keep him and hawkeye and iron fist just aren’t fun. Gotta work too hard with them I think. What’s a team someone can suggest to put around Magneto?
I’m gaming today around 6:30pm tonite if anybody wants to play. I"m going to wrap things up around between 11 and midnite.
I’ve been telling Kimbo to play Vergil/Mag/Wesker. Very good team. Fanatiq and a few others play mags. Execution intensive but you play Hwo so that’s nothing new for ya. Would recommend learning his fly dash loop and corner fierces loop.

Fanatiq has prolly one of the best Mags out there. But Mag takes a lot of execution to play as.
