Juri probably isn’t going to keep all her buffs I hope. The stories of that Japanese Juri player coming to the location test, playing her and leaving right away because she’ was just not fun to play anymore are pretty telling.
They only buff they should take away IMO is crMK made 5F startup. Her crMK is already one of the lowest profile moves in the entire game and making it 5F AND reducing the recovery by 1F is a bit much given her other changes.
Other than that, I’d like to see her retain those changes and have other chars get similar buffs. It probably wasn’t fun to play Juri because she got great buffs while much of the cast got meh - shit buffs (or even were nerfed.) if everyone else had gotten Juri level buffs he’d probably have had more of a challenge.
I hope she keeps most if them. J.HP not being a hard knockdown is kind of odd. But seriously, if you stop playing a character because they got better then youre a fucking hipster. Also Yossan is a Benedict Arnold.
Well, kinda like Mak, she received a ton of buffs no one asked for.
I’m not worried about my character against Juri. But I’m not gonna be happy if she end up top tier because she gets on my nerves pretty easily.
And combofiend already said some of Mak’s buff aren’t staying. Jump cancel on block is gone in the next build.
That’s Juri’s specialty. She’s a jack of all trades so she gets on everybody’s nerves easily lol. But it’s not like she doesnt have any nerfs either. Kasatushi takes grey life, and FSE got a pretty noticeable time reduction.
Gen. His footsies are on par with Chun and Bison except he has legit anti-airs to back it up. He basically has charge character footsies without the usual drawback of lacking anti-airs. Crane cr. HK, Mantis, cr. HP and st. HP, Gekiro and especially EX Gekiro and then Crane Ultra 1. He also has some nice air-to-airs.
He also has pretty great damage. His basic bnb does 200 damage and his footsie damage out-put is one of the best in the game. Depending on meter he can get damage from 280-310 (cr. MP xx Hands fadc cl. MP, target combo xx LK or HK Gekiro depending on character) with two meters and he has the notorious Super into Ultra which does somewhere around 620 damage.
On top of that he has great mix-ups with a good kara-throw, two jump arcs and one of the best cross-ups in the game and then he has the Oga set-ups.
He’s definitely a character that takes time to get good with but I don’t think he’s too hard. The hardest part is probably getting used to the stances. The combos are more complex than with most characters in the game but with time they’ll be rather easy. Also sometimes he can get overwhelmed since he requires meter for his reversal which is pretty much his biggest weakness.
Read the whole page / i so agree with noocta for Makoto :
Execution wise with hayte cancel combos
tons of priority on her normals (stHK beats slides (rose, ibuki), stMP works like a charm for pretty much everything (poke, AA, coffee maker), crMK is a very good AA, fMP is godlike, …)
Accccttuuuuaalllly. Honda’s overhead is 130 damage and Ken’s F+HK ovehead is 120 damage. Cody’s overhead is ALMOST as far as Gen’s and also 100 damage hits twice.
Also El Fuerte’s far HK is 210 damage (110100) 400stun (200200) hits twice and the 2nd hit is an overhead.
Still not happy about Kasatushi taking grey life…I hope that doesn’t stick…>_>…if it does…there’s very few reasons now then before to use it…they have to buff it…
chun does indeed have the best set of normals and anti air normals and jumping etc. each button is gdlk, the problem is she can’t really do damage with them unlike e. ryu imo
df. Lk from super was even better than any other anti air command normal
That’s pretty deep, for being so crudely delivered. You do get some people who take pride in the fact that their character is bad, maybe as some sort of pre-excuse? I’m a bit like that with T.Hawk, but not in a hipster way. I just love how terrible he is, and how manly/glorious his costumes are. When/If T.Hawk receives buffs that will make him considerable, I’m not gonna brush him to one side. He’s decent in ST and I play him there as a main too.
Edit: To contribute to the discussion about normal attacks. I’m gonna say that E.Ryu does hella damage with no meter but that doesn’t necessarily make him have good normal moves. His C.mk, which is a common tool for Shoto characters is much worse than the Shoto characters. He’s risky. I couldn’t tell you which characters have the best normals, but I think Rufus is maybe the one and I haven’t seen him mentioned.
I don’t like playing super popular characters. I will always play Vega, but I’d be lying if I said I didn’t dislike playing fotm characters.
It’s not a “pre excuse” for me. In Melee a big part of why I mained Samus was just that not many people were good with her. She filled my other criteria, like being fun and relatively effective, but I do like that she wasn’t a space animal too. Then Brawl came out and I played Fox more simply because he was worse.
