So I have been using a Ryu/Blanka team lately and I am not very fond of Ryu. I love launching and then coming in with a shoryuken but I can shoryuken with Toro if I want to do that >.>
What I am trying to say; I would like to change my Ryu to something else but I am unsure (mainly because he is used too much and people know his moveset against me). I want a more versatile all around character. It can lead to more of one side of the spectrum though but no one like king or kuma since I have blanka which is more of a tough character. I am thinking of picking up Hwoarang or Rolento but I am having a hard time learning with rolento because he is kinda a weird character. I am also possibly going Dhalsim because he is great at zoning and is amazing if used correctly but zoning isn’t my style. I just don’t know, what is your $.02s guys?
If I understand you correctly you want a pretty simple but strong character.
You should take a look at Kazuya and his tekkencombo’s or Gief and his commandgrabs and lariats.
You could go for either Cammy, Jin or Lili. Lili is said to be the most complete character in the roster if she only has a command grab with her. Cammy is pretty much a quicker Ryu sans the fireball, and Jin is almost Ryu’s Tekken equivalent story and gameplay-wise.
Rolento shouldn’t be that hard to learn. But only play him if you want to stick with him. He was my main since SF3 Alpha so I put the time into him in this game. Hes takes not alot of execution, but you do have to “think” from time to time.
Good and far reaching normals.Very good AA. Great mobility tools. And rekka style move. This all makes great for a good zoning character. (How I played him) . His rushdown is really only tricky crossups/Frame traps, but in my opinion its not his best feature. Seeing how he lacks an overhead hurts too. Also he is getting some pretty glaring Nerfs in Ver. 2012 so go over those first and see if your still interested. (Wouldn’t be wise to learn him then get nerfed.) Also you shoudn’t be inclined to pick a “good” character. Go with your favorite and make it work. Him/Her being your favorite character, that in itself inspires you to put in time with said character and get better. (Really? Who wants to spend time in training mode with Ryu? Ugh)
for some reason I have never came to like alot of the tekken characters, but good lord, despite her looks, lili is amazing and I have also come to like alisa quite a bit. I am starting to try to work with them, who knows, maybe one of these guys you are all suggesting may take over blanka, unlikely but maybe shrug
Blanka needs someone with crazy damage output.
I´ve got Jack or King as his anchor because of their tag/in potential and they totally change the pace of the game.
I have always looked at blanka as a high damage output character. 31% damage off of just 4 hits isn’t that bad, and that isn’t even using any bar.
I would like to try to take your advice but I personally despise Jack and King. Do you know any other characters that can destory with a decent hit box character size? (I.e. I am not wanting to use hugo or kuma)
that’s something you can learn later. It’s a pretty decent and easy character to pick up. But he’s quite the handful to master.
But his normals are great, and his tekken combo’s are easy and filled with all kinds of mix-ups.
So there’s a lot of very good basic stuff about them, so you can learn the more advance strategies later.
I suggest learning Jin, imo he feels like an upgraded ryu with that lightning kick instead of a dp, he does have a decent fireball game if you need to keep them away, special step combos hurt like a bitch, his reversal leads to much more damage than ryu’s dp, i think you should try JIn
His mixups are pretty trash. All of them allow you to guess right and punish. And if you guess wrong you take no more than 100 damage wow. No good positioning from them. (he can’t do much with it any way really) The risk outweighs the reward HEAVILY. In the beginning he said he wanted to a strong character. So obviously he wants to win. Tbh if he really wants to win and get a decent rank online then that won’t do the trick.
Kazuya does have good normals. Sufficient AA and good footsies in general. IMO he should FERST master the mist step canceled from alot of diffrent normals, trying to wave dash. Combos with mist step etc. High level players and intermediate players will know the mixups AND know that they csn reversal in between them on block.
Sorry to say it but he’ll get torn apart if he tries to effectively use Kaz’s mixups.
Maybe if you need to squeeze out some damge in the last few seconds of around its exceptional but still its never great to rely on that.
Those Kaz mix-ups are good for ranking up on noobs. A lot of sub-par Kaz players ranked up to B+ just using those lame 50/50s. If you want to get any higher you’ll definitely want to master EWGF so you don’t look like a fraud Kaz when you finally do fight someone who has half a brain.
He has many 50/50 that are punishable. Twin fang thing. The other standing chain(that starts with b.lk i believe) The mist step spinny kicks to gut punch.
Sorry, i don’t the names
