Update bump.

Good job BBCampbell! The thread is sticky now so feel free to flesh out this guide however you want. I was thinking it’d be a good idea to list appearances by character (for example listing all of the issues that Ryu has appeared in) but i don’t think that’s necessary since it’s so easy to search using Ctrl+F.

Good idea listing first and returning appearances. I think it might also be cool to have a category for “battle appearances” by issue. So for issue 01, you should have “Battle: Ryu, Ken Masters, Guile, Chun Li, Sagat, Bison, Charlie, Birdie” or something like that. I think one of the best reasons to have this guide in the first place is for people who are looking to get issues that feature their favorite character, so it kind of matters if their favorite character actually does any fighting or if they just kinda stand there that issue. Or maybe a better way to do it would be to list the battles themselves, such as “Battles: Bison vs Charlie, Ryu vs Ken, Birdie vs Guile, Chun Li vs thug, Ryu vs Sagat (backup story)”

I don’t know if Bison vs Charlie qualifies as a battle, but it is a battle action pose : )

In issue #8 there is one of the fighters at the muay thai fighting circle (towards the end of the issue) that looks almost similiar to Terry Bogard from Fatal Fury. Coincidence???

1st appearence of Terry.

Issue 9:
First Appearances: Fervier, Aprille, Xiayu, Yanyu, Dee Jay (WTF?)
Returning Appearances: Ryu, Sakura, Adon, Chun Li, Fei Long, Satsuki

I’ve decided that each time a doll makes a somewhat major appearance, I will list their name individually. If there’s a group shot to the point that I either can’t identify which doll it is or don’t care to ( :stuck_out_tongue: ), then I’ll just put “dolls”.

For those who don’t know: Fervier is the doll with the microphone and Aprille is the nurse looking doll.

“Dee Jay with the dolls? WTF?” Yep. In the NewType side story, “Killer Bee” defeated Dee Jay and abducted him. He was apparently brainwashed by Shadaloo and is now an agent. Though, he’s been “captured” by MI-6 and will probably snap out of it.

Issue 9 should be subtitled “The issue where reading the sidestories in other books pays off.” It references the NewType and the Gamepro stories.

Request to udoneko: If you’re going to tie these stories into the main storyline, please release them in a graphic novel so that we can read them.

I know it was part of a promotional deal and all, but if we miss the book, then we missed part of the story.

Now mind you, I bought that issue of NewType, but gaming mags are dead these days.

Yes, I agree a graphic novel with the extra side stories would be nice if they keep tying them into the main plot line.

Small correction: It’s Fevrier who shows up in this issue instead of Enero. Enero’s got the big conspicuous mic and the huge red hair.

I was wondering about Dee Jay there; thanks for enlightening me.

Thanks, V-10. My gut told me that it was Fervier, but I double-checked and thought it was Enero.

Hmmm… instinctively knowing the names of the Dolls…

I need to get out more… :stuck_out_tongue:

EDIT: Anyone else catch yet another parallel with SFIIV where Sagat goes to India to learn from Dhalsim?

In SFIIV, Sagat tells Ryu to go to India to learn about Hadou. In the comic, Sagat goes to India to learn about… umm… crouching fierce???

   Ah, yes. The one move that’ll shatter the mighty Gouki as told by Bowling Pin.

Wonder how many other parallels we’ll see by the end of the comic’s run?

Oh well, four more dolls left to appear. TiamatRoar must be pretty satisfied thus far. I hope Guile shows up again sometime soon. His episode’s been hanging since issue 7.

Another parallel to SFIIV: Shadaloo pumping huge amounts of money into Brazil.

Bison’s hideout was in Brazil if I remember correctly…

Who else thinks MI-6 will meet up with Blanka soon?

So next issue, we could potentially see the first appearances of Dhalsim, Blanka & Balrog (okay, he’s showed up before, but he had no lines) All we need to round out the SSFIIX cast now is Zangief and T. Hawk.

In SF2V, Shadoloo’s buying huge tracts of South American rainforest, don’t think they specifically mentioned Brazil, but that’s no biggie.

MI-6 and Blanka’s a given, as revealed in a comic site’s summary about the developments in issue 10.

I also agree that some sort of back up of Dee Jay being captured by shadowloo would be helpful.I knew that it was a short comic story in a game mag,but come on,that shouldn’t tie in to the street fighter comic. Since it does for some reason, they need to add it in the comic as a back up or flashback in the regular story.I know udon listened to our requested and there will be a backup featuring Rose subduing Cammy,or,excuse me-‘killer bee’,as some thought it was ryu who stopped her. Anyways,my request is to add Dee Jay being captured and brainwashed by shadowloo in the comic. I know udon listens,so please consider it. Anyways, more dolls in issue 9 were great, and issue 9 overall was a 10 out of 10.Of course,I loved all the issues so far,and they keep getting better.

There was a back-up Story where Dee Jay gets captured.

It was in the November 2003 (?) issue of NewType.

Basically, Dee Jay’s fighting and chillin’ on the Jamaican coast, when Cammy-- err… “Killer Bee” shows up and smashes his stereo system. Of course you know it’s on then…

“Killer Bee” beats Dee Jay and takes him back to Shadaloo HQ to be braiwashed.

Brazil? … hummm … sean (sf3)

Thanks, but I knew all of this. What I am saying is to put the backup in the street fighter comic. What is newtype anyways? Is it a game mag or what? And how can I get that issue?

Four more? Hmmm…
(I’m not counting group shots…)
Juni
Satsuki
Fervier
Aprille
Xiayu
Yanyu

I think Santamu and Juli have appeared in the group shot where Dourai gets killed, so you’re right.

By my count we still need to see:

Enero
Marz
Juli
Santamu
Nomebelu (when T. Hawk shows up, she’s pretty much a given…)
Decapre

Wheres R Mika??? ;-;

if its going to brazil u might see a oro cameo since he’s over 100 years old. i just got into this book series, great stuff.

i dont know if you guys noticed this because prolly you guys dont know the movie called “The young and the dangerous” its a ganster film from hongkong and since the people whos working on the comics are from hongkong they added some appearance heheh

they are the 5 triad fighting against fei long and how to say this they have 100% resemblance from the chars in the movie. lets say the hair style, clothing and of course the last thing thats for sure is the dragon tattoo around the body his name in the movie is called Chan Ho Nam
