I’m already playing too many games, but still too bad it’s Arcade only.
I mean gameplay looks interesting…but the characters are so one-note. So very vanilla.
blazblue avatar
I dont feel like changing my avatar.
Aw man…not this again…
I’d say the characters are still more interesting looking than most from Melty and Arcana. And at least up to par with some of BB. It’s decent.
lol @ BB characters being interesting
Character seem nice, not to fantasy but also not to plain. (Well …the guys any way)
im upmped

game lookng good … wish these ppl knew how to play tho : - ) didnt see any system mecahnics used besides anime fundamentals
Game just needs to be out already
It looks like a great game! - makes me think of the BBCS, and Melty/AH3 - a revival of 2d-ish fighters !
Rui and Makoto Nanaya are gonna be on Judge Mathis in a identity theft suit. Next Monday at 10 a.m.!
But I likes what I see, can’t wait for it to drop, and hopefully get a console port.
One thing I did notice was that whenever someone did the EX-Burst it made all their specials turn to EX moves…that’s pretty cool. Can’t wait to see the finished product.
I think it may just be the colors of Rui’s costume. On top of that Makoto’s a squirrel who is damn near naked. Not that there is anything wrong with that. In fact I welcome our hot sexy Squirrel Mistress with open arms. And fuck a court room. Let em get on Jerry with no security and let em bang.
But I really hope they can find somebody to get behind a console port. Retail or Dowloadable. This game deserves a chance to be played by everybody who wants to.
Game system update, will post updated move lists tomorrrow.
Miscellaneous information
The Chaos Gauge (Super meter) can hold up to three stocks at any time.
A dizzy meter is present, as in Street Fighter 3 series and King of Fighters XI.
Before each battle, you must “select your bounce”, i.e. choose between the Step (dash) and Run abilities. The Step can be cancelled into (attack -> Step), thereby eliminating some recovery time, while the Run can be cancelled from (Run -> attack or High Jump), allowing a character to move in on the opponent more easily.
Next, you are given your choice of two Extra moves out of a total of four. Each character has two Extra special moves and two Extra Ultimate Chaos moves (Level 1 Super moves) to choose from.
Movement/defensive system overview
Step/Run (selectable)
f, f (hold f to run)
Backdash
b, b
High Jump
db/d/df, ub/u/uf or run, ub/u/uf
High Jump cancel
Cancellable normal moves (but not special moves) and the Run may be cancelled into a high jump.
Air dash
f, f (in the air)
Double jump
ub/u/uf (in the air)
Roll
AB/f+AB/b+AB
Ground ukemi (recovery roll)
AB (when about to touch the ground)
Aerial ukemi (air recovery)
direction + AB when launched into the air
Tactical Guard
CD (requires half a stock of Chaos Gauge; can be done in the air)
If your character absorbs an attack, he/she will automatically counterattack.
Offensive system overview
A = weak punch
B = weak kick
C = strong punch
D = strong kick
Chaos Combo
Normal moves can be chained together as per this flowchart:
A -> B -> C -> D
Throw
AC
Throw escape
C (just before being thrown)
Counter Hit
A Counter Hit will yield longer hit stun than a normal hit, allowing additional attacks to connect. For example, a sweep cannot be followed up by anything on a normal hit, but can on a Counter Hit.
Guard Break Attack
f+CD (requires one stock of Chaos Gauge)
This move will break an opponent?s guard and can be cancelled into from normal moves.
EX special move
special move motion +AC/BD (requires half a stock of Chaos Gauge)
Not every special move has an EX version, and none of the Extra special moves does.
Ultimate Chaos/Extra Ultimate Chaos (Level 1 Super move)
motion + one button (requires one stock of Chaos Gauge)
Destruction Chaos (Level 3 Super move)
qcf, hcb/qcb, hcf+AC (requires three stocks of Chaos Gauge; cannot be done during Exceed Chaos)
Chaos Cancel (Super Cancel)
special move -> Ultimate Chaos (requires one extra stock of Chaos Gauge for a total of two stocks)
Chaos Shift
AB/f+AB during Ultimate Chaos (requires one extra stock of Chaos Gauge for a total of two stocks)
An Ultimate Chaos move can be cancelled into a special form of movement as an escape tactic or to allow for follow-up attacks.
Exceed Chaos
BC (requires three stocks of Chaos Gauge; can be cancelled into from normal and special moves)
Upon the activation of Exceed Chaos, the Chaos Gauge begins to drain until it reaches zero. EC carries several benefits:
-
The dizzy meter empties instantly
-
Gradual life recovery
-
All attacks become cancellable
-
All moves which use Chaos Gauge consume a portion of the timer, the amount corresponding to their normal gauge cost (allowing for otherwise impossible combos, such as special move -> Chaos Cancel into Ultimate Chaos -> Chaos Shift into normal move -> Ultimate Chaos or EX special move?)
^^^^^thanks a lot!!!
i look forward to talking about this game irl adn using the word ‘chaos’ 1 million time
Bravo Peperoncine
Command attacks
Ryuushou (Dragon Palm)
f+A
Seimen Press (Noodle Press)
d+C in the air
Your average Body Splash.
Special moves
Kangei Dai Kaiten (EX) (Welcome Great Spin)
d, d+P/AC (can be done in the air)
Bravo does his best Spinning Clothesline/Double Lariat impression while carrying plates of food. This move can be Chaos Cancelled into the Honten! Shouka Dai Shouka (hcbx2+P throw Ultimate Chaos), even after hitting an opponent out of the air!
Chuubou Zeseiiki (EX) (The Kitchen is (indeed) Sacred Ground)
qcb+P/AC (repeat x2) (removed?)
Senpuu Dai Kochou (EX) (Tornado Great Aromatic Intestinal Bloating)
qcb+P/AC
Dashing backfist/uppercut?
Jounetsu Goutentou (EX) (Hot Water with a Passionate, Thunderous Roar)
qcb+K/BD
A running grab similar to Zangief’s Running Bear Grab or Hugo’s Meat Squasher. If successful, Bravo tosses his opponent into a cooking pot.
Shoutai Dai Shokutaku (Invite Great Gluttony Dining Table)
qcf+P
A table appears in front of Bravo. Presumably, the button used determines the table’s position on the screen.
Shouka Dai Shouka (Sublimating Great Frying Pan)
hcb, f+P (when close)
Command throw. Bravo catches the opponent in a frying pan, then tosses him/her skywards. This move can be Chaos Cancelled.
Extra special moves
Bakuretsu Shouronpou (Explosive Small Dragon Wrap)
d, d+K
Bravo traps the opponent in a large basket (I believe this sort of container is normally used for storing food), which then explodes. Seems to be comboable, and may be unblockable.
Hishou Hougyouza (Flying Wrapped Potsticker)
dp+K
Anti-air leaping throw (see: Soul Throw/Air Stampede/Shootdown Backbreaker). If the move succeeds, the opponent is caught between Bravo and a long dining table which appears on the ground.
Ultimate Chaos
Dohon! Jadou Sokuryouri (Getting Angry! Evil Course Fast Food)
qcfx2+P
Bravo hits the opponent with a few types of food in succession (including a large fish).
Honten! Shouka Dai Shouka (Suddenly! Sublimating Great Frying Pan)
hcbx2+P ((when close)?)
Comboable super command throw. Bravo slams the opponent into the ground repeatedly, tosses him/her into his frying pan, and finally jumps into the air with the opponent, spins him/her around and throws him/her to the ground (the animation resembles that of Victor’s Great Gerdenheim from Darkstalkers 2/3).
Karei! Shoutai Dai Shokutaku (Splendid! Invite Great Gluttony Dining Table)
qcb, hcf+K (removed?)
Bravo summons a huge dining table?
Extra Ultimate Chaos
Kisha! Shinsei Daisanbou (Kneel in gratitude! Three Great Sacred Treasures)
qcfx2+K
Super dashing backfist?
Shougeki! Hantenteki Kiki (Shock! Crisis in the Restaurant)
hcbx2+K
Super running grab with at least one hit’s worth of Super Armor. If it connects, Bravo pushes the opponent to the edge of the screen, then Irish Whips him/her towards the centre of the screen to collide with one of his employees, who is carrying several dishes. As the employee runs off, Bravo finishes with a dashing backfist/uppercut.
Destruction Chaos
Chougyouten! Saigou Kyuuteki Daika (Extreme Astonishment! First-Class Price)
qcf, hcb+AC (removed?)
Tourai! Saikoukyuu Kihin (He/she has arrived! A guest of the highest-rank)
qcf, hcb+AC
Bravo does a short-range, vertical strike with his fists. The animation suggests that he can hit opponents on either side of him. If it connects, Bravo opens a door in the background and a multitude of people emerge and stampede the opponent (imagine May?s Instant Kill from GGX onward).
Notes
Chuubou Zeseiiki
"zesei" (different “sei” kanji) means “to correct”/“rectify”
Senpuu Dai Kochou
"ko" means “aroma”, “fragrance”, while “chou” is “intestines”, “entrails.” “kouchou” (different “ko” kanji) means “flatulence”/“bloating.”
Shoutai Dai Shokutaku
"shokutaku" means “dining table”, while “taishoku” means “glutton(y)”, “voracity.”
Jounetsu Goutentou
"go" is “roar”, “thunder”, “ten” is “heaven” and “tou” is “hot water.” “gouzen (to)” is “with a roar”, “deafeningly.”
Hishou Hougyouza
A potsticker is a “pan-fried dumpling stuffed with minced pork and vegetables.”
Dohon! Jadou Sokuryouri
"do" means “anger”/“rage”, and “hon” is “turn.” “jadou” means “evil path” or “evil course.”
Honten!
Again, “ten” is “heaven”, while “honzen” is “suddenly.” Apparently, Bravo pronounces “zen” as “ten.”
Kisha! Shinsei Daisanbou
"sanbou" (“three treasures”) may (jokingly) refer to the three treasures of Buddhism (Buddha, the sutras and the priesthood) or the Imperial Regalia of Japan (the sword, the jewel and the mirror).
Shougeki! Hantenteki Kiki
"hanten" literally means “food store.” The “-teki kiki” ("-type crisis") part may be a pun ("?kikiki").
Tourai! Saikoukyuu Kihin
"kihin" means “distinguished guest.”

Oyaji no Surprise Kurai (Daddy?s Surprise Drink/Meal/Treat)
hcbx2+K
Cait grabs the opponent, then throws him/her at his father. Dad swallows/engulfs the opponent, pounds him/her into the ground repeatedly, then spits him/her out.
Destruction Chaos
Perfect Family Renkei Bomber (Perfect Family Cooperation Bomber)
qcb, hcf+AC
Notes
Tokkoumai
"toku" means “special” and “kou” means “attack”, while “tokkou” (using a different “kou” kanji) means “special efficacy.” Perhaps the name is to be read “Toku Koumai/Toku Kou Imouto” instead.
Sandan
"san" means “scatter” or “disperse”, whereas “sandan” (different “san” kanji) means “buckshot.”
Chuuryaku
"chuuryaku" is an ellipsis or an omission of a word or phrase. In this case, it may refer to a dramatic pause.

Overhead (?) mermaid tail slap.
Special moves
Mahou no Harmony (EX) (Sorcery?s Harmony)

Bunny no Otakebi (Bunny?s War Cry/Roar)
qcb+K (in the air)

Ultimate Chaos
Shiawase no Kane ? Goal In! (Bell of Happiness ? Goal In!)
qcfx2+P
Clad in a wedding gown, Catherine tosses a bridal flower bouquet. On hit or block (and miss?), a score of bells and what looks like a scene parodying The Creation of Adam falls onto the opponent.
Ai wa Bunshin Satsupou (Love is Killing by Clones)
qcbx2+K
Catherine is trailed by a green, semi-transparent “shadow clone” who mimics his movement.
Extra Ultimate Chaos
Kagami no naka no Shinjitsu (The Truth in the Mirror)
qcbx2+P
Catherine dons a witch?s robes and holds out an apple. If the opponent attacks him, he summons a large mirror and slips into a queen?s (?) dress. The image of (Catherine: a beautiful princess) (Cthylla: a green, super-deformed Cthulhu) appears in the mirror, and Catherine throws the apple through it and at the opponent.
This move is an obvious reference to the most well-known plot points in the tale of Snow White; while disguised as an old crone, the evil queen offers the heroine a poisoned apple, and a mirror tells the queen that Snow White - and not the queen - is the fairest in the land.
Nyan Nyan Miracle Dynamite (Meow Meow Miracle Dynamite)
qcf, hcb+K
Catherine performs a ranbu, changing into different costumes for each attack. He finishes by launching into a Shin Shoryuken while donning a cartoonish cat outfit.
Destruction Chaos
Otome no Shining Heart (A Maiden’s Shining Heart)
qcf, hcb+AC
Notes
Shouakuma
"shouaku" means “minor offense”, while “akuma” is “devil.”
Jun’ai Coming Out
Heh-heh, heh-heh, he said “coming out”? I take it any doubts regarding Catherine?s gender may now safely be cast aside? BTW, “jun’ai” can also mean “Platonic love.”
Ai wa Bunshin Satsupou
"bunshin" is “clone” or “alter ego” and “satsupou” is “killing method.”

Destruction Chaos
Surprise Formation
qcf, hcb+AC
Cerberus Black
Command attacks
Sunrise Hush
f+C
Special moves
Heavenly Shoot (EX)
qcf+P/AC, follow up with P
?Shoot!?
Cerberus fires a blue energy projectile from his ?spirit gun.? By pressing P, more projectiles can be fired in succession. Apparently, the gun?s clip holds six bullets (no idea if reloading must be done manually, as with AH2/3 Petra?s ?Alexandra Christina? ether guns, or if Cerberus automatically reloads once the clip is empty, like KOF ?99-XI Whip does with her Desert Eagle).
Air Smash (EX)
dp+P/AC (can be done in the air)
?Nice catch da!?
Cerberus grabs the opponent and fires a few point-blank range shots at him/her. The ground version is a jumping anti-air move, while the aerial version is a ?stationary?, air-to-air attack which combos. Seemingly, neither can hit opponents on the ground.
Dual Slicer (EX)
qcf+K/BD
?Let?s go!?
Cerberus dashes behind the opponent and delivers two ?psi-blade?-esque slashes. (Presumably, the B version does not travel ?through? the opponent, but instead hits from the front.) During the EX version, Black slashes three times in front of him, launching the opponent for a juggle.
Slash Beat
qcb+P
Series of slashes.
Swing War
qcb+K (can be done in the air) (removed?)
Extra special moves
Sweet Trap
qcb+K
"Zannen." (“Too bad.”/“Sorry.”)
Counter (or guard point?) move. When it is triggered, Cerberus swats the opponent away with a flip of his trenchcoat.
Smashdown Arrow
qcf+K (in the air)
"Over there!"
Dive kick, land, dash past the opponent with a launching hit (at least one of Cerberus’ Ultimate Chaos moves can juggle afterwards). The dash-hit part may be a separate move.
Ultimate Chaos
Passionate Slicer
qcfx2+P
Series of slashes followed by a shot.
Shall We Dance?
qcfx2+K
Rising Shinryuuken-type move.
Extra Ultimate Chaos
Dancing Storm
qcbx2+K, press K rapidly
"Yeah! Hey, hey, hey, hey! Yarisugitaze?" (“Yeah! Hey, hey, hey, hey! Overdid it?”)
In the air, Cerberus fires multiple Heavenly Shoot projectiles at a 45 degree downward, then goes into a cartoonish pinwheel-like spin, finally falling flat on his face. This may be another Ultimate Chaos move, but for now I shall assume that the “press K rapidly” input corresnponds to the rapid-fire Heavenly Shoot sequence.
Easy Come, Easy Go
qcf, hcb+K
Cerberus captures the opponent with wires of energy, strikes him/her multiple times, then finishes with an energy shot.
Destruction Chaos
The End
qcb, hcf+AC

Papaloi no Yubiwa (EX) (Rings of the Papaloi)

qcb+P
Extra special moves
Taihainaru Odoriko Tulzscha (Tulzscha, the Corrupting Dancer)
d, d+P (set)/d, d+K (activate) (both can be done in the air)
Seikan Hikou Hastur (Hastur, Flying Among the Stars)
qcf+K, then any direction + K (can be done in the air)
Ultimate Chaos
Bakuen no Seiseirei (Exploding Star Spirit)
qcfx2+P (in the air)
Cthylla flies forward in the air, surrounded by flames.
Anshou wo Ou Watatsumi no Kage (The Sea God’s Shadow which Covers the Unseen Reef)
qcfx2+K
Cthylla strikes/touches the ground, causing a shadow to emerge and envelop the opponent. She then gestures, and the ?cocoon? breaks, doing damage.
Extra Ultimate Chaos
Kuroyamayou no Sabbat (Thousand Black Goats’ Sabbat)
qcfx2+P
Hai?ru Yami no Keshin (Crawling Incarnation of Darkness)
qcbx2+P
Destruction Chaos
Ooinaru Chichi no Yobikoe (Great Father’s Call)
qcb, hcf+AC
Cthylla performs an overhead (?) strike with her staff. A Cthulhu emblem appears in the background, followed by Cthulhu’s eyes and wings. He parts his wings, showing his entire form behind Cthylla, then forms his emblem in front of him and fires a beam at the opponent from it.
Notes
Cthylla
In the Cthulhu mythos, Cthylla is stated to be Cthulhu’s daughter (the youngest of his offspring, yet still a Great Old One). He intends for her to re-birth him in the distant future, after his destruction.
Kokuu no Genhou Yog-Sothoth
"kokuu" means “empty space” or “the sky.” “Gen” is “illusion” or “apparition”, and “hou” means “bubble”, “foam” or “froth.” Yog-Sothoth is an omniscient and quite alien entity who is often associated with the concepts of borders, gates and keys.
Kaze ni Nori Ithaqua Upper
"kaze ni nori" means “riding the wind” or “carried by the wind.” Ithaqua, a Great Old One believed to prowl the frozen north, is sometimes known as the Wind-Walker.
Papaloi no Yubiwa
"yubiwa" means “(finger) ring.” *The Rings of the Papaloi *is a horror story written by Donald J. Walsh, Jr. It appears in August Derleth?s anthology Dark Things. Apparently, a papaloi is a witch doctor, houngan/mambo (“voodoo priest”) or shaman.
Tindalos no Shiryouken
The Hounds of Tindalos are fearsome creatures who appear out of angles to stalk their prey. “ryouken” means “hunting dog/hound”, while “shi” means “animal offspring.” The kun reading of “shi” is “ko”, so an alternate reading of the name is “Koryouken” (the names may be puns on “Shou Ryuu Ken” and “Kou Ryuu Ken”, respectively).
Taihainaru Odoriko Tulzscha
"taihai" is “corruption” or “decadence.” Tulzscha, an Outer God who dances in the court of Azathoth, is called “The Green Flame” as its physical form is a pillar of sickly green flame which emits no heat.
Seikan Hikou Hastur
Hastur appears in a collection of short stories called The King in Yellow, a moniker which was later applied to it by August Derleth (who also established Hastur as a Great Old One). In at least one work, Hastur is associated with stars, such as Aldebaran.
Bakuen no Seiseirei
"bakuen" literally means “exploding flame”, or “smoke of an explosion” if written using a different “en” kanji. The first “sei” means “star” or “planet”, and “seirei” means “spirit” or “soul.” Regrettably, I have no idea what Lovecraftian horror (if any) this phrase refers to.
Anshou wo Ou Watatsumi no Kage
This is probably a reference to the novella Shadow Over Innsmouth, which depicts a small seaside town whose semi-human inhabitants are given to worship of Cthulhu and Dagon, two deities whose motifs are strongly tied to the ocean.
Kuroyamayou no Sabbat
"kuro" is “black”, “kuroyama” is “large crowd” and “you” is “goat.” This is almost certainly a reference to Shub-Niggurath, who is frequently titled “The Black Goat of the Woods with a Thousand Young.” The “sabbat” allusion is most likely to the “Witches’ Sabbath”, alleged meetings of witches and Satanists which involved all manner of blasphemy and debauchery.
Hai?ru Yami no Keshin
The “hai” prefix means “to crawl”, but I cannot make sense of the second kanji. “yami” is “darkness” and “keshin” means “incarnation”, “embodiment”, or “manifestation.” The object of reference is undoubtedly Nyarlathotep, an Outer God who delights in spreading madness amongst humans and whose sobriquet is “The Crawling Chaos.”
Ooinaru Chichi no Yobikoe
An obvious play on The Call of Cthulhu, a short story written by H.P. Lovecraft and subject to countless references in every imaginable media outlet. I once took a photo of a home-built river raft called “The Raft of Cthulhu”, which had a stylized picture of old octopus-face painted on it.
Thank you so much. I’m really looking foward to this game. Hopefully we all can play it.
anyone know what hardware it’s being made on (taito, naomi, atomiswave, etc?)
