^lol. Nah. They prob didnt even have any Dee Jays there to test him. They just looked at that move and noticed it looked retarded and decided adding the ability to do it into super would make it cool. -__-
i think they just wrote down all his normals / specials onto little pieces of paper, then wrote down “special cancelable”, “super cancelable”, “ultra cancelable”, etc. onto other pieces of paper, then just tossed it all in a hat.
Actually that’s not true because we saw from the location test footage how Super to U1 worked. There were 7 or 8 matches of a fairly solid DeeJay user that they could analyse. I think the issue with the footage was that he was going up against characters that DeeJay is either even or is advantageous in the matchups. From memory I think it was Dudley, Abel, Gen, Guy and Jury.
One thing that really annoys the crap out of the me about Capcom throughout this entire process is that all the AE and now 2k12 location tests are done in Japan exclusively where DeeJay is not a very popular character, to add insult to injury none of the super top Japanese players use DeeJay so he falls by the wayside when it comes to serious consideration for rebalancing. I am going to Seasons Beatings this year and I am hoping to grab Seth and ask him what the idea is behind these changes and if there is something that we as DeeJay players are missing?
If the cl st.hk is special cancelable, it would be a good frame trap. Can we only super cancel it? Well it doesn’t really matter. Troll buff lol. Something useful would be… making cr.hp easier to cancel to specials or add more block stun to cr.lp. far st.mp hitting crouching opponets. We need small tweaks that DJ players actually use.
DeeJay is low tier. Wake up people
maybe its a overhead now
for me DJ - bottom:eek:
thats really sad, cuz in this time ssf2t DJ team win SBO
Man this junk is garbage. I cant beleive they had the nerve to put that measley ass cl HK buff up there and nothing else…I cant beleive I’ma have to deal with lackluster jabs, recovery, and pokes…Did they atleast buff the damn hitbox on that peice of a move??
come on guys,(da knut, jcool and others)
lets go on Ono Twiitter
we have last chance before last locktest
im tired to lose all my friends:oops:
I’m not going to spam ono’s Twitter. I’m going to start playing st. DSP lives in my town and so does John Rambo. I could start an apprenticeship of some sort.
The only way I can keep playing deejay is to add guile Honda bison or blanka to my roster.
I spammed Onos twitter in 2 languages. I did my part lol.
Oddly enough i have gone back to ST and am playing alot more seriously these days. If you are going to add Guile to your roster in SF4 you might as well drop DeeJay. I think Viscant said it best, DeeJay is a irrelevant character in SF4 and it looks like Capcom is going to keep him that way. Why play DeeJay when you can play Guile. Long live ST.
I dunno, I think Viscant’s simply wrong. You play Dee Jay instead of Guile because Dee Jay is a different character from Guile. He does things Guile can’t, and can’t do things Guile can. To ignore that and call him irrelevant is simply to demonstrate that you’ve not got enough Dee Jay knowledge.
I’m not arguing that Dee Jay is just as good as Guile is. He’s much lower in the tier lists and will stay that way. But unless you’re going to discard all characters who are below the top 8 in the tier list as being irrelevant, then it’s absurd to discard Dee Jay out of hand. But if “relevant” to you DOES mean “he stands a very realistic shot of winning EVO because he’s a top tier character”, then yes, by that definition, Dee Jay is irrelevant. But it has nothing to do with the supposed similarities between Guile and Dee Jay’s playstyles (which are superficial at best and misleading at worst).
You then might as well say “Why play Dee Jay when you can play Yun/Yang/C. Viper/Seth/Zangief/Makoto/Guile”. Which brings you back to square one, being “Why play low tier when you can play high tier?” and if you’re asking that question, then why are you on the Dee Jay boards? Surely you knew Dee Jay’s low tier before trying him out!
Haha, this guy loves DeeJay.
It’s hard not to compare DJ to guile when he kinda does the same type of zoning…but Deejay is def his own char…
guile’s zoning is way better. stand fierce is better then all of deejay’s AAs
Why are we still trying to compare DeeJay with Guile. They are two different characters. They are charge characters with a projectile and a special AA. That’s it. DeeJay and Blanka is a better comparison. Guile and Chun Li is another good one.
And DeeJay is irrelevant in top level play
…takes the turds out of my cereal…yeah …You right. You right.
DAMN I wanted DeeJay to be good. This is the second damn char I’ve played in this game that I’ve felt wasnt all that…Even decided he’d be the first charge char I learned…I need to just pick up Sagat.
I didn’t pick up Deejay because of Tiers, had I known I’d be disadvantaged in so many match ups I wouldn’t have picked him up and spent all that time though. The problem with SSFIV AE is that a lot of characters can out play another character and STILL lose because of deficiencies in character design.
It’s so funny when Capcom talks about “we did this on purpose” well if you did, how bout clueing everybody the fuck in. Why doesn’t Capcom let us know who they intend to be OP and who they intend to suck on purpose so people can invest their time wisely. Not everybody has time to learn every character to counter pick. Some of us are character loyal.
I personally feel the characters should be BALANCED ALL THE WAY, and the handicap option is there for people who want an additional uphill battle challenge.
I don’t understand how bad character design is accepted as “We meant to do that”. It’s the greatest FADC ever.
I really feel DJ is a disabled character in this game, with a bad poor design.
I dont think he’s designed TOO poorly…All they need to do is tweek a few things and he’d be real awesome. It’s not like alot of his stuff doesnt function…It does…but its just subpar. Give us a real cr. lp. Give us safe lk sobat, give us somethin awesome like ALL sobats knocking down…GIVE US SOMETHIN AWESOME!
Let me start off my saying that i am not looking at starting a flame war and i don’t want to derail this thread any further than I already have. But i will respond to a few points.
I don’t understand where this argument of Dee Jay being the same as Guile is coming from. Of course he is a different character and of course they have different properties no one ever said that Dee Jay and Guile are the same character. But what i did say was that if you are going to pick up Guile you might as well not play Dee Jay. The majority of Dee Jay’s strengths in SF4 series which make him a good character Guile simply dose better. Guile has a better fireball, which has faster recovery 29, 31, 33 and 39 compared to 36 and 52 , his normals (ground and AA) have far better hit boxes and are better startup wise. His flash kick all versions are 4f starup and hits crouching opponents making it a safe option with 2 bars. With those things in mind his zoning game and the ability to keep opponents out is far stronger, not to mention his returning 3f Air grab in 2k12. The point that I am trying to make is that Guile dose better in most of Dee Jays matches that he has an advantage in and also dose better at some of Dee Jays tougher match-ups hence making Dee Jay as a character irrelevant in this game.
I am not going to get into the long and drawn out argument of playing top tier vs. low tier as it’s been going on since the dawn of SF2 world warrior and will continue to exist with in any fighting game. The real question that we should be asking is, why do I play this game? How seriously do I want to take this game? If you want to play this game for the social factor, to handout in a great community like SRK and make friends all over the world then playing Dee Jay makes perfect sense. But if you want to be a serious competitive player then playing a low tier character is just disadvantaging yourself.
As to what i am doing on the Dee Jay forums and my knowledge about said character the answer is very simple. I love Dee Jays as a character, his design, his shit eating grin, the moves that he has and generally how he plays. Ever since i saw the first screen shots of him in 1993 in Australians Hyper magazine. Something about this character just clicks with me. I have invested a significant amout of time both playing and studying the SF4 engine and mechanics of the game to try to figure out how best to use Dee Jay and maximise his potential in all versions of SF4. It greatly saddens me to say that the character that i enjoy playing is considered irrelevant but unfortunately that is the reality of the situation. Unless we see some major tweaks to Dee Jay in the next update i am not holding much hope for him in 2k12
