Changes for Morrigan in UMvC3

I hope Shadow servant super can get XF’ed into Finishing shower. That meter stealing soul fist looks really useful, Morrigan needs a slow fire ball assist for setting things up and of course you can combo her new soul fist into something else. If it hits that its bonus but its real use is to set things up.

Morrigan can attack much sooner after beginning her ground dash now.

That is a lot sooner. Hard to even make a guess on frame count from that vid though, it’s 15 frames in MvC3, maybe in Ultimate it’ll be closer to 5. INstant like VS would be great. That’s definitely a change for the new build though.

Another very nice change; Morrigan’s minimum airdash height was significantly lowered:

~13 seconds in.

Maybe it’s even low enough to dash right after canceling a grounded Soul Fist L?

Should do quite a bit for her high low game, potentially even enough to see j.H become her go to combo starter instead of just her optimal one. The earlier ground dash cancels alone should make for easier use of assists, especially if it can be canceled with anything other than an attack (like just letting go of the stick, but I’m not gonna get my hopes up to high on that one).

Interesting that in DS, Morrigan’s ground throws caused a “ground bounce” that she could combo from; 30:40.

What is that shield move she uses @ ~0:39? Looks like Ammy’s projectile counter.

That was Nemesis calling in Ammy to perform her projectile counter assist.

It is Ammy’s counter. Other player just called the Ammy shield assist.

The changes they are making to Morrigan are nice, but what I’d really like is a teleport. I mean, she CAN teleport, it’s just never been expressed as a move in the games she appears in.

No worries, I thought it was a new thing for her too. The stream is really crappy quality and her opponent is X-Factored IIRC, so it all just blends in.

Wouldn’t a teleport basically make her Phoenix light? Throw a fireball, fly-cancel, teleport over and over…I like it.

I <3 Teleporters, so I 100% approve of that suggestion. I’ve made it myself a few times too.

It’s been a while, but I’m pretty sure her throw doesn’t cause a bounce. The opponent just teched it, and techs in VSav just reduce damage slightly and flip you out instead of resulting in a knockdown.

With this known, what would be a good team for her NOW?

I don’t think anything has fundamentally changed about Morrigan; she still has the same needs and benefits for her teams. It’s not like She-Hulk, who just got an air dash, or something.

Bitch needs a teleport.

I’m not so sure that’s true. The much earlier cancel window in her ground dashes, and virtually non-existent minimum air dash height actually look like pretty huge game changers to me. I think she’ll be able to get considerably more mileage out of assists as far as combo extension goes now, especially OTGs.

This much could be true, but stuff like damage output and hitstun scaling which is more ambiguous needs to be extensively tested in order to see if it has changed for the better.

She is not going anywhere until people can confirm improvements there.
