Good news!!! Found a program that does the work for me. It output sb to nero, cdrwin, discjuggler or fireburner. Thanks for everyone’s help. It’s too big to attach, so I’m willing to aim it to anyone that wants it. PM me.
what program u useing so i can try and help u out?
I’m using most of the programs suggested in that music hack guide:
the adx music converter, the dummys, the cdrwin etc… the difference is, I used a video tutorial as well to help me make it.
…oo and “gaira” was the word I used instead of echelon
whats the best alternative to cdrwin?
First off all, I just wanted to make sure you are using the numbers that ‘cdrecord -msinfo’ gave you, prolly 0,11702 or 0,11700 if it isnt a CDDA game. If you are actually using the letters x and y iin that switch, It aint gonna work.
Secondly, the switch after the -V ECHELON is ‘-l’ or ‘minus elle’, not a number ‘1’. That allows filenames past 8.3 characters, I think up to 32 characters. -l means 'long file names’
Third, is doesnt matter what you put after the -V, as long as its a single word (no spaces). It can be ‘echelon’, ‘gbursine’, even ‘tdc_final’. What you put there specifies the name of the volume. You know how your D: drive (whatever your cdrom drive letter is) will show up as ‘echelon’ when you put the resulting disc in your cdrom? Thats why.
Sounds like this program didnt like your cdr. Since its at the end, I doubt it is a driver or ASPI problem. Slow it down and burn at least possible speed. If you can, take the chance and use cdrecord.exe on the command line. So much better control, and more reliability for booting selfboots.
thanx toodles and trunks.
I redid the dummy file so that it was 675 mb instead of 680. then I redid the iso so that it had that -l in it.
I then ran it at 4x as trunks advised.
I dont know which affected it, but on my 6th cd(3rd cd this round), it finally worked… thanx again all
finally got bit torrent…someone give me a link to the 3 in 1 pweeze
hey toodles that was me asking for the link i just accidentally posted it under my buddy’s srk name…sorry about that…but any info on where to get the wink wink u know what would be helpful…thanks
i got this mvc2 customix made by DA1M0N (the Label name of the cd is DA1M0N_MVC2…in casee somebody have the game…) and I want to know if its a non-cdda Katana mVC2. How do I do this.
:bluu: It burned sucessfully… lol but it loops through that initial sega boot startup. w/ the balls and all… jebus, I may just wait till the summer and start over… tho I’d like to know whats wrong
would making it not an autoload cd be easier?
Does it get to the Produced by or under license from Sega screen? If you get the balls, than nuthin, you forgot the IPINS step, or left a IP.BIN in the root directory of the cd. If you get the Produced by or… screen, and then resets, you either left the IP.BIN in the root directory, or you didn’t set the LBA on the executable to the proper number, or you didnt use the right LBA in the mkisofs step when making the ISO, or the IP.BIN isn’t pointing to the right executable name. Just a couple of things to check on.
Hye what sup man.
Well I have the same problem gbursine mentioned (just like him I fallow a the Video tutorial on how to createa bootable mvc2…maybe the tutorial is for none-bootable to bootable…?) .
I went over ur problems and corrections list and I think that my problem as well as other might just be that the IPINS
> IP.BIN
> data.iso
is not doing its job for whatever the reasons cuz when I searched for the IP.BIn file in my 7+ coasters the file is no where to be found.
isn’t ipins suppost to insert the new hacked ip.bin file as a replament for the remove IP.BIN(the one u’re are suppose to remove from the data file and place outside…where in the selfboot dir)?
It might just be that we need to use another ip.bin file…the one from a Utopia bootCD (like achelon recommend in his tutorial?) maybe?
I don’t know much so please somebody help me/out…
this is my 7th coaster…almost broke man…danm
Hehe. You’re misunderstanding what the IPINS does. The IP.BIN isn’t really supposed to be a ‘file’. You won’t see it on a self boot. The IPINS replaces the first 32k of the iso; its not on the file system as a file. Its like a boot sector of a floppy drive or hard drive. Its the first thing that gets read, before the computer even knows what a file system is. If you’re following the steps properly, you will not see an file called IP.BIN in the root directory of the cd. (You’ll notice I listed there being an IP.BIN on the cd as the possible cause of his problem.) This video that is being spoken of, I have no knowledge of it, so can’t point out anything that could help. I do know that the echelon method for non-cdda Katana games works flawlessly on getting the three main capcom fighters selfbooted.
Kinda, except that on a selfboot disc, it isn’t a file. The first 32k of the second session contains a little bit of information and a little bit of code, just enough to tell the DC how to read the filesystem(thats the code), and what file on the filesystem to load and execute (which is why binhack asks for the name, such as 1st_read.bin). The Utopia bootdisc needed a way to know which file on the backup to run first, so the people doing the ripping copied this boot sector information off of the original, and put it in a file on the backup called IP.BIN. Utopia reads this file from the backup, and runs the executable it says to run. Since a selfboot is fooling a DC into thinking it is an original disc, you do need to have the same boot sector information that would be present on an original, but since you aren’t using the Utopia bootdisc, there is no need for an IP.BIN to be present as a file on the disc.
This description is riddled with trivial errors overlooked for the sake of simplicity, but the concept is correct.
Doubtful, but possible. With most games, the IP.BIN information is entirely interchangable. I think mine are all using an IP.BIN for Virtua Striker or some crap. As long as its a Katana game and not WinCE, I don’t think it matters one lick. Chances are messed up on the number you used for your LBA, or didn’t run BINHACK on all of the executable files needed. It sounds like cdrecord.exe and mkisofs are working properly on your machine. Perhaps you should try one of the selfboot batch files to help you?
when the sega logo loops…something is wrong with your 1st_read.bin…
if it matters at all i have the nsb 1st_read for marvel, 3s and cvs2 so if anyone wants to start of from just being nsb to sb then holla at me on aim and ill get u the 1st reads
holla
thanks for supporting this thread also…keep it alive
yeah I also thought that might my 1st_read might just be one of the problems or the problem period.
can somebody hook me with their mvc2’s bootable (i will also like to try the utopia files…if I can find them or someone donate them to me. Thanks in advance) mvc2 1st_read and ip.bin.
I will like to to see if my problem is that my 1st_read files can’t be hacked properly or something.
I mean I fallow the video tutorial which is the same as the achelon tutorial step by step(i just fidn that out). I get everything right. Man I had done it 9 time now without any luck at all( I get it to boot then sega, then it the screen goes black for a couple second and it resets in a infinite loop…I wish i could make a video so u guys can see what I actually do…I am 100% sure that I am doing exactly what echelon and toodless said. still I get a bad bootable cd which make no sense).
maybe i just need to try the tutorial with another copy of mvc2? has anybody try to hack the one mvc2 (cd lable: da1mon_mvc2) in supernova?
hmmm is camtasia free??? can u also record audio along with it??? and what does it do?? does it record ur whole screen or just the active window…info please buddy
I finally made the camasia videos. Now how can I send it to you so u can check them out.
the size of the whole thing is 8 MB aprox.
If anybody else want to see if they can fnd out what is it that I do wrong in my process…please let me know.
