Change The Music For Marvel, CVS2, AND Third Strike

Use discjuggler w/o changing any setttings and it would work…

I tried burning with discjuggler, and it still doesn’t load up on my DC.

Also, when I try using Cdrecord, it says that I don’t have any ASPI driver? I think it’s the same problem that Shinraven has.

Suggestions?

edit: nevermind

i noticed in the video tutorial off direct connect, his “data” folder had all these .bin files while i have only 4, is this cause the difference between mvc2 and 3rd strike or is my pc not viewing them(if so, how do i view it)?

A. where do i place my 3rd strike music(now .adx, and now renamed the actual titles)? under the “SOUND” folder in the “DATA” directory?

B. under the “SOUND” folder in the “DATA” directory, all the songs for 3rd strike are in .adx format while in the video, all his mvc2 songs are .bin and directly in the “DATA” folder, do i change the extensions of the songs to “.bin” or keep it “.adx”?

  1. Root directory of SF3:3S contains 4 .BIN files, 1 .INI file and 1 .PVR file (The .pvr may be optional, dont sweat it if you dont have it.)

A. Yes, in the exact same place they were originally, in the sound directory.

B. The file names of your new replacement songs should be identical to the ones they are replacing, in the exact same directory. This includes the file extension. MvC2 and CvS2 have the filenames ending with an .BIN extension, and SF3:3S have them ending in with .ADX. However, they are all three using adx encoded files. So take your .WAV file, run adxencode on it to make a ADX encoded file. THen rename it to whatever song you want to replace on the disc.

You’re making this way to hard on yourself. The GAME is going to look for 01_bla.adx (random filename I pulled outta my ass, doesnt apply to real world) to play as the music for Round 1 on say Sean’s level. Now, if you wanted different music for that round on that level, what do YOU think the filename should be?

I did everything according to the echelon tut but I’m stuck.

i input in DOS the command
cdrecord -scanbus

Instead of #s, I get this:
"Cannot load ASPI driveR! cdrecord: Permission denied. Cannot open SCSI driver. Make sure you are root.

???

dl the latest ASPI drivers or get the newest version of CDRwin…cdrecord sucks…:stuck_out_tongue:

i read this from the “how to make selfboots non selfboots.txt”:

**“Ok - you now need that LBA number from earlier (usually 11700 or 11702)…”

“Next you are supposed to open all the “bin” files in the directory (one by one) and do the same search for “cd001” and change the 4 digit code where ever needed…”

“Note, if this step is not done (or is done wrong), the game will load up until about 96% and then it will reset back to the main dreamcast menu.”**

i m using the selfbooting 3rd strike’s game files, i put the non selfboot “ip.bin” and “1st_read.bin” in the directory and deleted the “dummy000blahblah” file…

A. will the selfbooting “MAIGO.BIN”, “SG_DPLDR.BIN” and “2_DP.BIN” still work properly with the non selfboot “ip.bin” and “1st_read.bin”?
if it won t work properly, can someone send me the non selfboot “MAIGO.BIN”, “SG_DPLDR.BIN” and “2_DP.BIN” files please?

B. i have the utopia bootCD for nero, how do i burn it so it works?(CD-ROM(ISO), CD-ROM(BOOT), CD-ROM(HYBRID), (CD-ROM(UDF), (CD-ROM(UDF/ISO)).
the game should be burned as “CD-ROM(UDF/ISO)” right?

my AIM is kofiend. any help is gold

A) Why not just use the non-selfboot “ip.bin” and “1st_read.bin” and make it selfbootable…and about the dummy file, why did you delete it? you would still need it to make a non-selfboot or selfboot…

B) You should just click “Burn Image” choose the image and then burn it…

nm, i m pretty spankin sure its my burner(MITSUMI CR-4804TE)
shit doesn t even record regular data or audio file all the time.

i m just gonna use a friend’s burner

in essence when ur gonna make ur custom, most likely ur custom music is gonna be wayyyy bigger files than the ones u are replacing that are already in the game…so i told the guy to delete the dummy cuz really u dont need it…dummies are overrated and he’s gonna need the space that thing takes up in the long run

i m goin to burn it now, i ll post what came about.

i m slaughtering 15 goats to tribute mojo makoto:D

I burned my cvs2 mix successfully
…but the songs aren’t looped:bluu:

is this how it goes? (in a nutshell)
wav to adx
loop it
adx to bin

mojo,
how are dummy files are overrated? I thought it makes the disc read more efficiently.

my game runs, but the “ip.bin” and “1st_read.bin” i have is japanese, while my game’s files are US.

after loading the utopia then the game, the japanese 3rd strike cd picture of chun li shows and the game loads up.
everything is graphically correct except the memory card part, main menu and player select(the parts where the US and JPN texts show in their respective versions), the picture gets all screwed, but i can still pick the wrong character and play normally without problems:D

adx to bin??? is that a program ur using?? if so then u got some info mixed up somewhere along the lines because although Marvel and CvS2 have .bin extensions it doesnt mean u have to convert ur adx’s to .bin files…all u do is simply rename the file with a .bin extension …something kinda like this ADX_001.BIN
…and thats it no need for the “adx to bin” thingy u just mentioned

and to make songs loop u use the adxencd program u used to make u adx files…i think there might be a tutorial on it in the earlier pages of this thread…u might wanna look into finding it

and about dummy files…people say they make the game run faster but from what i can see its not faster if it is any faster at all with a dummy file in the game…anyway it isnt a matter of whether the game will load faster or not…u will NEED to remove the dummy to put ur custom music in cuz the dummy will eat up too much space and ur game will NOT burn if the file sizes exceed the limit allowed

holla

when i said “adx to bin” i meant changing the extension. my bad for not being clear.

as far as dummy size goes, you can change it to fit ur needs. it can be as small as 200mb or even 100mb(i presume). From what I’ve read, the dummy makes it easier/faster for the DC to scan the disk. So in that respect, it does make it run faster.

It isnt required by any means, but it can help. Easy example is MvC2. After the opening, when it shows the MvC2 logo and says ‘This is marvel versus capcom 2…new age of heroes’, it will stutter at the ‘mar’ part a couple of times. With a good dummy file, it won’t. But with the insane sized tracks people are using for their custom soundtracks, it won’t matter.

damn it, i ran into one last problem. can anyone help me?

from “how to make selfboots non selfboots.txt”…

my LBA is 11702, i m using hex workshop 3.1.

after loading up my 1st_read.bin and finding “cd001”, i see a small window with 8 digit numbers to the left, the largest window being in the middle with the numbers “4344 3030 31” already highlighted. the right window has “cd001” highlighted.
to the left of the numbers “4344 3030 31”, i can see “5C2E”, he wants me to change that to “A600”, i know.

A. question is, when i click find and search for “5C2E” under “hex value” types, i can find at least 5 other "5C2E"s in the middle window, do i change all of those to “A600” too or just the one near “cd001”?

B. some of the other bins in the directory have the text string “cd001”, but don t have the hex value “5C2E” thru “find”, am i ok or should i look for them myself?

just change the first one…burn the game and if it doesnt work then go back and change all the rest…thats what i did…i just changed the first one and burned and it worked so in ur case it might work out the same way…just try it out

can someone please give me step by step instructions on how to make a custom cvs2?

pm me a link or something… coz i seriosuly have no idea how to go about doing this…

and if someone could pm me the 3-in-1… that would be dope too…
