Ha ha.
Of course I used to love CE - except for the Bison multi-hit crap that was introduced on the VERY LAST BUILD we got (was on the phone trying to to flip with Japan over that one and could not get it reversed for the US build with just a rom fix… ahh!).
But Hyper -while I am super biased- is the evolution beyond CE that is PLAYER based feedback and very precision balanced (at that time) based on player skill then.
If I could only fix a few things still on that game. I totally agree the dizzies are a drag and the damage too high still (even though it was toned down). The few re-dizzies and dizzy to kill combos would be gone and a few characters hit boxes would get tweaked…
So I still like hyper and it is still my favorite version of street fighter, followed by Alpha 2, then Super Turbo (have MASSIVE hopes for the HD version to change my list) which is only 3rd due to damage and some other whacky things that I do not get (because I stopped playing back then)…
I really hope SFIV is great awesome so everyone is playing SF again world wide!!!
I heard someone say that the dizzy system was fixed in Super Turbo. I disagree. I still can get 2-hit-dizzies on people with Bison, Dhalsim, and other characters.
Incorrect. ST is in fact faster. Emulated versions of HF appear faster than ST because it is difficult to emulate the CPS1 clock speed.
I enjoy CE more. I agree with r3ko in that Chunners getting a fireball really ruined her character. She was and underdog, but her throw tactics made her unique to other characters in that game. I also agree that while Bison is pretty dominant in that game, Guile, Ryu and Sagat can compete pretty easily with any Bison player. I think people are using the “Bison is broken” as a cop-out to hate on CE. I like HF and I really enjoyed a majority of the changes the game made to allows gamers with great skill to be expressed in high level play. However, I think CE represents the core of all fighting games, despite its ‘slow pace’ and ‘unbalanced’ gameplay. There are no un-winnable matchups in CE, so I see little reason to call the game broken. Sure, some matchups are ridiculously hard for some characters, but they still can hold their own if they have a mastery of the game engine.
No one is going to convince the other of which game is better, but I’d really appreciate seeing more evidence to people’s arguments against CE other than “too slow” and “Bison is broken.”
CE was a great came to learn core street fighter strategy and tactics kids these days don’t seem to have. I’ve watched the korean videos and most of them seen to be above average in understanding the game. I don’t doubt they could learn HF. CE was a great game until HF came out. There’s no way in hell if you understood the fighting masterpiece HF is would you go back to CE…
HF = corrected version of CE.
In CE, there’s no way Sagat could be good if Ken and Ryu’s jumping early fierce STUFFED Sagat’s uppercut 9 out of 10 times. As a matter of fact… the jumping fierce stuffed almost everything in the game making putting alot of characters at the mercy of Ken And Ryu.
Hyper is nearly BS free. Hyper over CE any day. Im sure good hyper players can play CE on a high level as well, but everytime I play CE I feel like im downgrading.
