I think one of RenoRob’s post summed it up best in saying you guys aren’t happy no matter what you get. To everyone who hates on this game because of graphics, you really are over-reacting and blowing things way out of proportion. But seriously that arguement doesn’t make sense.
Street Fighter EX - Something “new” that you all apparently wanted but nobody liked one bit and it even kept up with graphics that you are all bitching about but that apparently didn’t mean anything when it came out. You never heard anybody say, god the gameplay is horrendous but its ok because it looks great. So why does it work if the gameplay is good but the graphics aren’t as great? Pretty non-consistent there.
Street Fighter 3 - Once again something new and what happened? Fans didn’t support it at all. Until about 3 years after its release. You wonder why Capcom doesn’t put in new things? Because people don’t buy it instead they rather have something old.
Capcom Fightering All-Stars - Ok here was the chance to make all your bitchings justified and what happened. It got scrapped because of lack of interest. It had nice graphics, what you’re all obsessed over right? Too bad when people watched videos that apparently didn’t matter because the gameplay looked to be lacking, nevermind the fact nobody even really tried it.
The fact is, most of you who are hating on the game, are just doing because its the cool thing to do right now. If you are really so angry at “rehashes” then why not support what is new, but then again that would make waaaay too much sense.
This game is good, and the people who don’t realize that are the people who have forgotten what SF was all about before the string of BS games we’ve been subjected to.
Here’s one hint for the clinically stupid: This is the first game in a long time where there is something for the characters to do when standing 1/2 screen away other than both walk towards each other.
The thing that pisses me off are the SNK fanboys that say CFE’s graphics look like shit when their very own KoF looks even worse!
I bought CFE. If that makes me crazy, or a fanboy, I don’t give a shit. RenoRob and Paranoia EviL are exactly right; so-called “fans” will find shit to bitch about in every single Capcom game.
You guys that are hating on the game are the ones that caused Capcom to “half-ass” it. The company listens when you complain, y’know…look at CvS2… hell, you guys asked for the characters that Capcom put in CFJ’s roster, yet everybody is still saying the roster should have been bigger, and should have had less SF chars. O_o WTF? Can’t people make up their minds?
Low profits from CvS2 are probably what caused this shit in the first place. Add to that how much money it takes to make a 2D fighter, along with the low profits. Also, add to that the loud-mouthed fanboys that fucking bitch and complain whenever Capcom tries to do you some good!
Then they end up not buying the games, and screwing the company over in terms of funds, making them half-ass the games. Capcom actually makes more money off the 3D games anyway…
The point I’m trying to make is, the people that bitch, they’re the reasons why Capcom doesn’t seem to be trying anymore.

CFE lacks any form or polish. Everything about it screams rush job. Is it playable? Sure. Do I really have fun playing it? Not likely.

2d sf games don’t sell much these days. Capcom obviously feels there is no point making a new 2d fighter from scratch because its sales probably won’t be any better then the mugen game they just gave you. So don’t cry about rehashing because its mugen or nothing

if nay, i think the best acceptable attitude towards this game is “this game isn’t for me. so i’m not going to play it, i will play something else.” instead of going off in a rant and lashing out on capcom’s laziness or something. besides that, my friend and i played it for a few hours and felt that this game was weak. just the whole game itself just feels like it lacks something very vital. i dunno, my friends and i sat down and played a few hours. what was still disappointing is that we were not feeling that adrenaline rush to win. the competitive feel wasn’t there.

Not that I’m defending or bashing CFJ, I’m still undecided on it since i have yet to play test it.

SF3 had new graphics/new sounds/the game was built from scratch leaving Ryu and Ken from its previous games (a street fighter w/o ryu isnt really street fighter)… and even then both Ryu and Ken was designed totally different… they created a unique system (Parry, stun meter, chosing super arts, etc…) and what happened… people bitch cause they were limited to one super… the game didnt feel like Street Fighter… parry suxed…
they tried to polish 2i and people still bitched… and when 3s came out… people bitched even more sayin that now Chun Li, Ken and Yun were too powerful…
it took years until the Japanese came to America to really got people hyped about 3s…
the problem I see is this… and Arturo this isnt directed to you…
but to the rest of the community… why not play this game… TRY… really try and figure the game out…
even though on the surface SF3 series is a very turtlish game and seems very boring… if the players actually took the time to dig deep into the game maybe… just maybe the game can have a unique experience…
u gotta realize CFJ is not gonna set a new standard in the fighting game evolution… nor is it a game that everyone thinks it needs to have… there is no tag system… infinates, triple ahvb, one button assist anti air, roll canceling, super damange custom combo, supers at the start of the game… this is a game that require some thought… strategy on how your character can survive in their environment (ryu in ST… Demitri in VS etc etc ) and how do u overtake your oppoenent in their environment…
thats honestly the pleasure of this fighting game…
the strategy to overcome the limitation that your character has… and still win…
yes… there isnt any new system in the game… I think that a good thing… if there was… people will be bitching about that new system and how its somehow lame or broken or both…
here is a game that if u’ve played Street figher or Darkstalker anytime in the last 10 yrs… you can probably pick this game up and start playing…
but there is just enough tweaking in the existing system that it is not and EXACT rehash from the previous games…
because the strategy here is not to learn a new system… its more like how does your character system overtake another character and their system… and thats honestly the pleasure of the game…
