CFJ is good: Quit overreacting to Jedah, idiots

Hmmm

He only has three moves as far as I can remember.

qcf+p = fireball
hcf+k = Horn ram(The one where he charges you with his horns)
charge d, u+p = Buttsplash.

I forgot his supers… because I rarely use them.

Saotome Kaneda Ah I see. Maybe I’ll try to use Nool now. Since my midterms are over, I can start playing the game again.

Oh come on. It also had higher interest before super meters. There are lots of factors why SF is less popular now.

No gimmicky tricks? What about the game that you call “the last real SF?” Alpha 3 is nothing but gimmicky tricks! Crouch-cancel infinites anyone? Chobotti cancels? OTG CCs? The most powerful custom combos ever?

Gee, I can think of another insanely popular game that revolves around gimmicky tricks. It’s name begins with an “M” and ends with a “2.”

Tell that to Gunter! Don’t worry, the game has plenty of gimmicy crap that will run your old school fun. The problem that they’re all old gimmicks. There seems to be very little new to learn in the game.

Dude. It’s out.

Ink how much time have you spent playing the game?

Wassup, I played the game for the past 2 days now. I also dont think Jedah is godly. Guile, Bison, Ryu, Karin and Anakaris could own up Jedah. Shit headbutt Zangief = 1 hit dizzy could do it too. Of course thats probably hard as hell to pull off. Of all the DS. chars i think Anakaris is the one to worry about. That fucker has so much potential with his lil magneto shit going on. Demetri could hold his own too, he has alot of setups for that move where he turns the dude into a chick. (sorry dont know what its called). I was more worryed about fighting guile. (Thanks to J.Cole and his dirty tricks ^^).

Are people so blindly devoted to Capcom that they will buy anything?

When Capcom said, “we’re taking a two year break from 2D fighters,” everyone was anticipating what would come out after those two years. What was the game that came out? HSF:AE. A complete recycling job. And people bought it. I mean, it has yet another iteration of the Street Fighter logo. By honor, we are bound to purchase it, right?

Now CFJ is coming out, and the only explanation I can come up with is that Capcom fans are a religious cult, desperate for any sign of life their deity can give them. They truly are fanatics, who worship anything that has Ryu, Chun Li, or whatever favorite character is in the game.

It’s fucking street fighter man. WTF, you don’t enjoy SF? And don’t even say you weren’t excited to here a “new” Capcom fighter was coming out.

SF is fun as fuck and that’s why people enjoy it so much. You should take that post to a Christian thread where it’s needed. (not that I don’t like christians, just blind/ignorant zeal and endless dogma)

Anyway, as for Jedah. I’d bet money Guy could command run/jump right past his little gay disk.

EDIT: Sorry to sound like such a dick. :lovin:

2 hit EDIT: And for that matter, I bet Guy could wall jump right up to Jedah’s face for a fang buster.

I love how people say “there’s nothing new”. Maybe if all you care about is superficial stuff, then yeah there’s nothing for you, wait until the next Guilty Gear game.

There’s LOTS of new stuff even among the old characters. Take a match between characters of the same system who’ve been in games together. Alex vs. Urien. Who wins this fight? Well, we’re not really sure. Urien did better in 3s because of Aegis, but that’s gone. In addition the moves are completely redone (stomp, elbow for Alex is different; headbutt, chariot rush thing is different for Urien), normal priority is different, throw setups are different. This is an entirely new match. The 2nd day I played this, I played with a friend I’ve played games with since 2i and we played this match over and over, it was completely different.

Or look at a match that’s been in every Capcom game since the beginning, Ryu vs. Chun-Li? How can you say that this match is the same…they have completely different systems. Hell one has parry the other doesn’t. How can you say that this match isn’t new?

I can’t think of any match in this game that is completely the same as it always was. THAT is why we play new games. Not everyone needs to see pretty graphics or new sprites to have fun with a new game. Most of us would rather explore the gameplay and the matchups. That’s what makes a new game fun. Quite frankly, people aren’t even looking at this part and when they do it’s completely wrong. To rehash an IRC conversation, people who have been trashing the game didn’t know that you could walk through the wheel like the Guile did in the last Acho vid.
How can you trash the game without knowing anything fundamentally about it. This boggles the mind. Do you just not want to play Street Fighter anymore and need to play some kind of hybrid vs. series game from now on?

To break it down further: why all of this talk about who/what is unbeatable is ridiculous-

Someone could easily have shown you a vid of CvS2 when it first came out, and convinced people that Haohmaru and Vega and Eagle were going to rape everyone. Someone could have shown vids of SFA3 and conviced everyone that Rolento, Chun Li, and Dhalsim were the only characters worth playing, all in X-ISM. If vids were posted of MvC2, it could easily have been said that Dr. Doom/Blackheart/Ken beats everything and is unstoppable. I could EASILY have posted some GGX/XX/r vids to people who were unfamiliar to the games and showed them what a retarded Sol party it appears to be.

Do you get it? There are some people who still don’t…none of those characters dominate the game that much anymore (maybe Sol. I don’t care, I don’t play GG). So, to see vids of Jedah beasting on everyone really doesn’t say much for how the game will ultimately turn out in terms of balance and which characters and strats will be the best and worst. If you wanna complain about Capcom not bringing anything new to this game, fine. But as far as the game as it is played, complaints don’t mean much yet.

Btw, Namco can update games graphically as much as they do because their games make much, much more money (at least fighting games). And if you’re comparing redrawing 20+ characters in a 2d game to, say, the graphical leap from TTT to Tekken 4, I couldn’t even say which is more expensive. I can tell you that the corporate offices would be more eager to fund the 3D project.

And Capcom has had national tournaments, just only in Japan.

Capcom has tried new stuff, it just doesn’t make money. Nobody played Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure, Vampire games only sell well in Japan, all Marvel games only sell well over here (and not even that well), nobody played WarZard, Rival Schools and SFEX float in limbo etc. When is Namco going to try something new? I see Soul Edge/Calibur/2 and Tekken 1-4 for the last what, 8 years?

And people bought SF:AE because it’s a good, if HORRIBLY BLURRY on the PS2, game. If people really just bought anything with Capcom’s name on it, we probably wouldn’t be having this argument.

Look at the last time they made something new, SF 3. Look how much they profited from it. You can’t blame Capcom for doing this anymore. You keep saying that Capcom doesn’t care about you and yet the last time they made a new fighting game SF 3, it didn’t sell well. Look at CvS, MvC2 they’re rehashes and I think they outsold SF 3.

If you really could play this matches before then cite an example of a game where You can play Ryu against Jedah or Zangief versus Alex or Guile versus Leo. Look at NGBC, it’s the same example as CFJ but people like it more because few people only played SNK games, this experience is like practically new.

No one even told people yet that Parry is alot easier than Just defend in CvS2. I still think that few months down the line, if people mastered the Parry system of CFJ, Jedah would be a thing of the past. And people would call SF3 characters cheap.

You guys complaining about Jedah are a bunch of pussies. After seeing those vids, I can clearly see on what the Guile player could have done against Jedah. For an example, if the Jedah player tries to jump back and do that air fireball just knock him out of the air with jump towards and roundhouse(something the guy in the vid did not do). Also as you can see as Viscant pointed out, you can walk past the fireball and throw him or any anti air. The main Idea is to keep Jedah grounded. That Guile player had lousy reaction skills, he had plenty of chances to knock Jedah out of the air…though its possible that the guy was not focusing on the opponent that well. JEDAH CAN BE DEFEATED PEOPLE! As long as any of you have a good gameplan for that particular match up.

If someone could parry/just defend 99.9% of the time, that person would be INVINCIBLE! But why would you need to play Street Fighter? Might also well just win the lottery with your skills! Lets also look at Sagat in CVS2 and Chun Li in 3S, things of the past right? :looney:

Ok I think I know this… it’s Marvel vs Capcom 2? :wow:

I’m proud to say I buy everything with a capcom name on it, no matter how bad it is (re: Auto Modellista).

Mat Hoffman’s Pro BMX 2 would have also been acceptable

lol

Finnaly someone with sense around here.

I wish Capcom Fighting All-Stars had come out.

Any fighting game with Strider is good by my definitions…

Jedah’s wheel and properties…

Seems like the wheels have a very long startup, an active period where they make the spinning sound, and then become inactive right before they dissolve into blood. Guile was walking and SonicBooming through the blood part.

One thing I’ve noticed is that Jedah + Wheel is possibly another Chang/Choi situation. Seems like if you hit Jedah at any point while the wheel is out (but before it turns to blood, i.e., goes away), the thing disappears completely. Just like Chang and Choi, to beat Choi, you can either hit chang or hit choi, and Choi will abort his attack.

I got this from the latest batch of vids from A-Cho. Take a look at the a-Cho CFJ video with ‘K’ in the title.

Multiple times, Karin hits Jedah either while the wheel is already out or while it’s starting up, and the thing disappears completely. This happens at 0:17, 0:38, 1:17, 1:54, 2:13…

There’s another video - the ‘N’ video - where Guile Flash kicks Jedah out of wheel startup, but another time he tries to flash kick Jedah while a wheel is out already and he gets knocked out of it. There are plenty of instances there where Guile jumps through wheel startup (but whiffs the punishment).

And another video where the Jedahs flew into each other’s wheels on startup and didn’t get scratched.

So in short, <theory starts> it seems that a lot of characters can defeat the wheel once you know what to look for.</theory> Unless you’re Hauzer and the wheel can hit your ridiculously large sprite from behind :frowning:

And if you’re really pinned down, you can whiff medium attacks like that Guile player to gain meter while waiting for Jedah’s next move.

The other thing is that the cornered Karin in the K video gets hit by Jedah’s BnB and walks through the recovery of Jedah’s bloody double punch thing (i don’t know what it is, i don’t play VS) to retaliate. She forces him to block, but it looked like there was an opportunity for a block/throw mixup. (timestamp 0:30 to 0:36) Or walkup CC. Or…

Anyway, so you can jump through wheel or find a very high priority move that will stuff Jedah’s Jump-ins (Karin pulls off a standing fierce that stuff’s Jedah’s jump in in another video and it looks like she’d eat the wheel, but instead it hits Jedah’s outstretched limb for a counter hit and the wheel disappears. Nice.)

I’m more afraid of Jedah’s crossup flying mixup he pulls on Guile in the “E” video. Looks like CVS2 Morrigan all over again, without the raging demon super.
