CFE Afterthoughts

tell me there are more than 2 colors per character. brown and silver urien are my only choices?

nope, only 2 colours and you get the poo coloured urien as one of them

Unlike a graphics whore, I will do my best to do a fair review.

The graphics are good. I’m playing this game on a 27 inch tv using composite cables. I’m glad that Capcom went back to hand-drawn backgrounds. It shows real effort on their behalf, and the sprites once again look like they belong on the same screen, unlike the CvS series.

The gameplay is pretty much Capcom standard. Music is fun and actually sounds like fighting game music again. Sweet presentation and art

Complaints:

Guy is a fucking DEMON!! Get him off me! Rapes Red Earth chars.

Chun Li seems to have lost some range on her crouching Fierce.

Chun’s standing forward has been speed up from 3rd Strike
Red Earth characters are overall slow as hell…wtf? Even Kenji.

Urien…seems to be moving faster than he should be able to. His crouching kicks are almost instant. That’s like the Terminator possessing Son Goku’s Instantaneous Movement. Nigga’s FAST.

Jedah’s Nero = Fautica lacks the range and duration it once had.

Third Strike characters got fuxxord cuz they CAN cancel into supers, but still need to do the FULL super motion. Ouch.

Characters that can double-jump or hover…I wish Capcom had just set it so if you want to jump again or hover, you had to press up again, but no. You accidentally do it if you just hold up too long. That’s fucked me a few times, and saved me a few times, too.

wish you could unlock multiple versions of existing characters, like 3rd strike Ryu, Alpha Chun…

Noticed:

When Jedah kills you with Prova = Di = Servo, your sorry ass remains a part of the document, instead of just falling back to the ground, dead. Also, the speed on this move seems to have gotten a boost.

They removed frames of animation fron 3rd Strike projectiles

I feel my purchase didn’t go to waste, as this game is very fun. More fun than I had with cvs2.

AKA, NP. I wasn’t really trying to attack you or anything like that, just the constant “play the game before bashing it” argument is getting kind of old as there are people who have played the game for a while and still think its utter crap.

On the other end of the spectrum there are some people that actually like the game. Only time will tell I guess, but I’m not holding out much hope for this game. CvS2 has never felt so appealing to me, haha.

Agreed, T5 will be the hotness. Namco actually gave a shit about that game and they know wtf they’re doing - it’s never been a better time to be a Tekken player, IMO.

Who cares what Arturo thinks.

hahah :stuck_out_tongue:

jays a hater =((((((( lol sup bro

I’ve been playing the game for a few hours (using Guile, Bison, Hauzer, and Leo), and I’m rather pleased with it. :karate:

-I’m playing the game on a flat-display, 32-inch tube television using S-Video and I have to say that the graphics aren’t as horrible as some people have said. Yes, a few of the characters are a bit rough-looking (Ingrid, Bison, and Leo), and Ingrid is definitely the worst of the bunch. Still, the visuals aren’t eyesores to me; I’ve seen much worse in video games.

-The character animation isn’t bad at all. Of course, frames were removed from the 3S characters, and I was worried about Hauzer and Leo. But they all move fairly well. It’s not 3S-quality animation, but it’s not a slideshow, either.

-The default game speed is just a bit slow, and I mean JUST a bit (and NOT unplayable). Things can still get a little tense if you’re not careful when you fight the faster characters. Speed can be adjusted, so this isn’t really an issue.

-There are no control issues. Everything responds as it always has.

-The dreaded RAT (roll and throw) tactic is back. CPU Ingrid got me with this a couple times. She’s the only character that can do it, though, and I guess I can deal with that.

-Strange quotes… Hauzer’s English is good for a dinosaur-dragon… thing. Ingrid refers to everyone as ‘whippersnappers’… what the hell?

-The music is alright. It’s not as electronic as the CvS2 music is, and there’s a lot more guitar work in it. The ‘rap’ song is weird… it has samples of lyrics from other SF rap songs. That “causing much mayhem, dropping drama” lyric came from the SF3:NG arranged album… I recognized that one immediately.

As for all of the griping… People should understand that the PS2 game is just a quick and dirty arcade port (hence the retail price and the quick port time). The XBox game will likely be the final version of CFE, and there’s a chance that Capcom may address a few of the problems that are in the PS2 game (lack of options, rough sprite graphics, etc.). Still, those are very minor issues for me, and I can (and will) enjoy playing CFE for a long time. I just wish I had more human competition near me; playing the CPU is gonna get old really fast.

Capcom Fighting Evolution… I like it. :bgrin:

Damn is this turd of a game out already?

I gotta go buys mines.

ok, now i know you don’t know shit about anything.

I wondered about this for awhile.
I am glad that Alpha’s lvl1 supers are like… well, SFA3 level one supers: they have substantial invulnerability unlike CvS2.

Guy can’t do like a Tekken character and do an 8-string for half your health like SFA3 tho… that said, the FF chain seems way easy to do now, but the RH kick seems to whiff a lot??? Or is it just me?

Yeah… they feel really weird.

Whoa really?
I thought they seemed harder to do… is this really the case?

Alex isn’t as crappified as I heard. Even though some things that I’m used to with 3S Alex are messed up (stomp is slower AND doesn’t knock down?! wtf), his jump is much faster, and his pokes seem faster too.

SF2 characters have almost stupid dizzying powers. It’s like you land two random DPs (not even really deep ones) and a poke with Ryu and they’re dizzy. While a player not used to playing against Vampire characters is still going to get raped by them, SF2 characters seem to have a much safer time against the Alpha characters, and perform solidly against the 3S crew.

lmao exactly!! That’s why the game is so unbalanced… 4 god tier characters

I’d also like to add, that the vid with Taka vs a name I cant read  was DRAMATIC. I mean I thought that Leo was going to die from a chipped knife super, but he restored his life and than he rolled away from that one knife. Than he finally lost to a time out…

R:rofl:FL!!!

Well, we did have to suffer through the shit that was Tekken 4. Unlike Capcom, Namco heard us bitch enough about JFLS and Steve 121 to start changing things around. oh yeah, AND TTT JIN IS BACK!!! (in the form of devil jin).

Most of the music sucks, but I love the NYC rap song. That is the only stage I will play in Vs. mode, lol!

Just wanted to say that I like the game, so that this thread is not overrun with hate. Not really here to argue though…off to the strategy section!

Has anyone made mention of the damage supers do? I was fooling around with Nool and his kick super does 20 hits 65% if you mash it (on Ryu) I know it’s a level two but that’s still kinda ridiculous considering how fast meters go up.

Matt

That super is pretty hard to land though, plus nool is a bit on the slow side so I think it balances it out giving him a decent way to dish out some damage.

Good point, I do however enjoy the 75% FABs!

Matt

been playing cfj for 11 hours its elite

Glad to see niggas finally stop hatin’.

Yes, Arturo, that means you. =p <bad 90’s NBC awareness commercial>Choose to defuse, erase the hate, nigga. </bad 90’s NBC awareness commercial>

Its pointless (imo) to complain about a game that your gonna play regardless!Yeah CFE isnt great, but what fighting game is these days!?Take it for what it is.

I look past frames and what they took out, put in blah, blah, blah
Its something new and only time will tell whether or not this game will get hardcore play!

Everyone has they’re own aspect to whether they like or dislike the game, personally I like the fact that Im able to pick my favorites from past SF games, and since I like ST I’ll more than likely play the full ST roster, while I’ve always loved and played Rose from A2,and ChunLi from 3S from day one!(I dont care if ppl say Chun doesnt have anything going for her,I’ll still play her and make her good!)
Yeah but overall I dont think CFE is a bad game.I’ll take it since we haven’t had a capcom fighter since CVS2,and thats about 2 years now so…
