CFE Afterthoughts

now mind you… i do have my minor gripes about this game… the char art is one as well as the chars looking blured and washed out.

getting past these graphic details…

i enjoyed the game… it is what it is… a compilation of 4 titles.
i was expecting nothing special and like the cheep price. I feel that it is a good game if you look at it from a cvs 1 perspective. nothing major… nothing great… just a simple game

all the complaints i saw early on from this game is really a damn shame, " ahhhh this game was crappy sprites " damn people, if you want something that looks pretty, GO PLAY DOA. and this huge complaint about the Jedai wheel. OMG YOU SUCK if you can’t get passed it. The dark stalker characters do not run this show. Chun li isn’t as broken as she use 2 be, atleast be happy about that. this is just the usuall complaint from players saying a game sucks b/c THEY SUCK AT IT!!!

OK just got done messing around with Yun some more.

After watching some japanese videos, i do appreciate this game alot, and having a juggle system makes this game hella fun.

I just found out 3s characters have to do the regular motion for their supers, instead of using the motion from a special as part of it. It’s a bit more work, but once you train your mind it’s really not that hard.

But yea, from what i see, nool is fucking whack. His turtling game is elite, but there’s gotta be a way around it. Jeddah isn’t THAT bad. or maybe i haven’t seen a good jeddah. My most fearful chars right now is Leo with his range, and nool with his keepaway game. Leo shouldn’t be too bad though, since he doesn’t have any real links.

Anyways, I never complained about the game once, i just thought it was alright at first, then i messed around with the juggle system and the game is lot more fun to me now.

Damn, the SF fighting game scene is sad and falling fast. Cats are so desperate that they’ll play a game that they don’t like? Just because it’s something new? If it’s this easy to get people’s money, I wouldn’t care how sloppy my game is either. It’s like throwing scraps to a bunch of hungry dogs. How can people try to justify what Capcom has done? They put a dinosaur and a squid in the game!!

well ive been playing for about an hour and i like the damn game. Been trying to put in work with alex in an attempt to find some new stuff. only thing ive seen so far is his air knee smash medium and fierce versions hit standing opponents. mk slash elbow into the stungun/flashchop/choke combo hits for about 60 percent damage. if only meter wasnt as hard to build…damn darkstalkers. o well hopefully someone else finds better stuff.

I played the game for 4 hours last night against some friends and I must say that the game is different.

But I enjoyed it and will most likely pick it up. I’m really liking Ingrid. ^^

BTW is it me or is EXTREMELY easy to do walk up SPD with Zangief in this game? I was pulling it off with little to no problems.

Just have some one else who builds meter faster (like a darkstalkers character) go first then unleash Alex, second round!

So is the combo system “just framed” like in CvS2 or is it the more scrub friendly linkable combos like in Marvel vs. Capcom games. Or does it depend on the groove you play. Sorry for the questions, I can’t yet test this stuff out for myself.

Chain links is with Darkstalkers characters, like they always have been.

Framed links is with Alpha and SFII chars.

3s chars have pre-determined links.

Everything is almost accurate, except some of the SFII links don’t work as far as i know. Anyone connect a c.jab into c.fierce with ryu?

Yeah, it is very unpractical to build that nuch meter in a single round but even with one meter you can do some nice damage in punishment situations via Fierce Flash Chop, SGH, combo of your choice. The combo in the vid is just there to depict how unbalanced some characters are. There should be no way at all, practical or not, should you be able to do that much damage in one combo…

I do like CFE very much though. And I’m glad that, like you said, it takes forever to build that much meter.

Cgroove level 2 x level 1 combos take off quite alot, any kgroove super and the cc’s from cvs2…

Lots of games have one combo or even one move that take off a rediculous amount of dmg.

In relation to supers alone, I think it goes from ST > 3s > WZ then DS.

I think trying to land the fierce chop might be hard enough at times.

Yeah, meter is definitely a bitch to build in this game, so it kinda forces you to have a battery on your team, like an SF2 character. And I hate to say it but I think the game needs to be 3 of 5 in order to make things interesting and to allow the matches to fully play out. Of course, one of the problems with CvS2 was that the matches were too long.

And I love that Capcom finally had the balls to give Zangief’s SPD the massive damage it was always meant to deal. No more, “OMG I just got SPD’d…oh wait it did nothing!”

This game may look like crap and be super lazy but its great fun, its probably my favourite SF to date, need the xbox live version like now

The game seems pretty balanced so far, especially since most of the characters have each been called broken.

AS i played this game a few things became very obvous to me.

The game does not feel like it done by capcoms tier one game designers. It has a big feel of CVS1. It was ok but not traditional of a a capcom fighter. It was a test run for CVS2. It had a better feel and better engine behind it, despite what some think.

I think that this was a hold over and a test run for a better game. It fels like they were testing the waters for a different idea. Everyone is a fan of the VS seriers games but not a multiple VS game.

I like it and feel that capcom is looking to change the idea a little and see what ppl think. Yes it is striped down and yes it is rehash but look past that and notice that the engine is tweeked but most capcom games do on each version.

They have to find a way to get ppl to look for new ways to “break” the designed engine and it keeps from the same old tricks from being used. This is something that the SF community is known for doing.

Yah, it’s been done. Just really really tough and everything has to be super tight in order for it to all combo.

It’s pretty darn easy. I can do walking 720’s with Gief too.

It’s mostly for punishment situations like a whiffed dragon punch or something. Or abusing newbs… :karate:

i agree. this is why CFE exist.

No, I played all last night with Alex, and the stomp knocks down every time. I wish Capcom would use a farting sound whenever that move connects…just think about it: You’ve got a damn-near 300lb dude jumping up and landing on your gut. What sound would YOU make? But seriously, Alex seems a lot more mobile, and does nice, meaty damage. If anything, he is now a bigger beast than before.

You say that as if it’s a negative thing. I wish SNK would put dinosaur and squid characters in their games.
