Isn’t down + MP in the air a tager style elbow drop?
doesnt the 2nd assist option change to whatever the last custom assist you did was? i think i remember mike saying that at some point? so wouldnt each character just have one default assist then?
on if cere is too good: remember, we have seen half the cast and very few people have gotten a real crack at the game. mike is basing the game off the old vs games which had their tier lists change dramatically over the years. she may seem good now, but just wait and see what everyone else can do and what people figure out how to do in this game. she may still be near the top or she may fall to the bottom! i just think its nice to see a grappler that isnt hands down the largest character in every dimension for a change.
on solo cere: shes gonna get zone zone zoned. super armor and projectile reflect will only take you so far. (remember all specials can be super canceled so you pull out a reflect or an armor move and then you get hit by argus agony or silent scope for your troubles). playing against a team will make this even worse as your opponent can use their assists to cover their gaps. imagine trying to close on a peacock that has a cerebella assist doing cere-coptor or rock-on? you are never going to catch her. [you approach, peacock calls out cere-copter assist you a) get hit by it and end up across the screen b) block it, peacock teleports behind you and gets away.] yes, cerebella solo will do tons of damage and be super scary but you need to get in first, and assists can cover a point character very well. now if you are playing 1v1, i think cere will do great. every zoning game has its holes. but thats just my opinion.
Yeah grapplers always seem really freaking good at first, but as the game goes on it becomes less and less so. Cerebella has a really good variety of tools though so I’m guessing when she does go down, her other tools will keep her from falling very low.
Edit: hellfromabove, this part is wrong I think:
DP+Grab - Excellebella - Extends big arm upwards, grabs and holds the opp upside down and Cerebella uses her hand to hit them 6 times. Is air-unblockable if you are on your way up from the ground, otherwise it is blockable. Excellent knock back.
IIRC mike said the first 2 frames or so are unblockable, but the remaining are blockable.
This was from a change from the most recent build.

I see. Did mike explain how that unblockable section actually works?
Yeah, it’s right in the portion you quoted. That’s exactly what he sent me after I sent him the first revision of the guide where I stated the AA grab is unblockable since that was what I was familiar with.

er what I meant was does the character jumping up have some special state where it can grab them or what? I was asking for details so we could know exactly how it works. “While rising from a jump” is a bit vague is all. If mike isn’t prepared to give out that info that’s fine.
does that mean its no longer techable? wasnt there some thing about that grab having a 4 frame tech window or something?
Going back to the “mike is making Cerebella top tier on purpose” conversation, just FYI it’s pretty much impossible for a developer to intentionally shape the tiers the way they want. There is far too much freedom in a game like skullgirls for devs to account for all the possibilities that a character can do. Balance testing certainly makes a huge difference since you can quickly find broken or braindead tactics and shape whether a character is fun to play (which is really what’s most important), but the fact of the matter is new techniques are always discovered after the game comes out that basically define what characters are strongest.
Hellfromabove, if you want to use emoticons for the directions/motions and buttons, just write them in small letters with : before and after it, for example-
: f : remove the spaces and you should get :f:
There is also an emoticon for 2 punches.
Now to get back to reading this (also thread title makes me cry as I am a Tager player ;.; )
This is exactly why I don’t like command grabs as assists…
I could just imagine that being a lot worse damage wise if it were a 3/3 match, it just seems like too much. The option select potential seems like it’d be crazy.
I don’t think you can OS assists in this game since using an assist means you have to press attack buttons. >_>
dude have you seen a single thing in this game that you dont think is too good? all you do is whine. have you SEEN mvc2? powerful stuff = fun.
WTF? It wasn’t even an option select.
Mike’s Cerebella assist simply connected before Jason’s Peacock could shoot. I’m pretty sure that the only reason Mike jumped over was to make sure that Jason’s Peacock couldn’t get out of range for the grab assist.
nice, the game is not out and we already have scrubquotes material :looney:
I just want to say I love the drumroll on her command grab. I’m excited to play her and make it clapwith instant overheads.
I’m not whining, god. The whole time, I said there were a couple things I was potentially worried about, and suddenly I think everything is OP And yeah, in hindsight it’s not an option select.
I really enjoy those drumrolls when you do a command grab, it’s such an awesome effect for the command grab.
Yeah, I agree. Along with the guitar riff that happens every so often it really comes together.

How exactly Bella’s reflector works? She reflects every projectile which contact her hitbox while it active, right? And beams will go through it nonetheless I suppose?
